  • about your answer @mrhenderson I know you dont have a hd tv but do you have a hd computor/laptop? thanks.

  • "awwww yeahhh" :D

  • how much was it when you bought in 07

  • @ilikesunneedee97 Around $1,200.

  • 3 Years Later I watch this video and I remember why I liked your blogs. You talk in manner that people can relate to. On a side note, we can look back and say to ourselves, .TOD files aren't compatible with regular editing systems. It is basically a failed launch from .MOD files. Thank you for keeping this video up!

  • @Npeo Wow, thank you so much for watching all these years. I'm glad you enjoy my videos and this video. I just speak as normally as possible on video as if I was talking to a person in front of me. I have no trouble editing TOD files in Sony Vegas. Same with MOD files.

  • it might be a little late telling you now, but if the JVC saves files in .MOD extension, you can rename the file with .AVI at th end, and itll automatically convert. I had a heck of a time converting my files for a college project, and was lucky enough to find a converter, but all I had to do was change it to .avi!

  • @mrhenderson The camera in this video actually saves files in .TOD files, because this one is HD. I don't need to convert them, though. They open just fine in my Sony Vegas timeline. Just drag and drop, that's all I need to do. No renaming, no converting. :)

  • hahahahaha you look exited hahahaha

  • I played a lot of it up for the camera.

  • for "8stars2states" if you have Windows movie maker on vista it does an exelent job! if you check out my channel (i know everyone says this) you will find on the homepage there is a fight scene i filmed with that camera!

  • I have a question what format does it record because I want to get another editing software its called pinnacle studio 11 and does the camera come with a converter

  • Its saved as .TOD and it comes with a converter called Power Director Express, as soon as you drag and drop the video files into his program it converts them into a .mpg

    I hope i helped :)

  • The software that came with this camera crashed my computer really badly, I had to uninstall it.

  • Arrrgh!

Worked fine on mine..what do you use insted?

  • I just drag the files directly into my editor, Sony Vegas, and start editing the videos.

  • Ok, Cool

  • what a herb! i love this video. i know that brand new toy feeling for sure though.

  • Now Shane, tell me, is there a tally lamp on it? A tally lamp is the little red light that comes on during recording time.

  • I don't remember, I don't think there is.

  • yes there is one for sure. i just bought one yesterday.

  • first of all, congrats on the new camcorder.. i was interested in that one actually, hope to hear how it turned out and what not.

oh and for the douchebags telling everyone to go buy a studio-quality camera that costs the better half of 5,000$.. shutup please.

  • i recomend it its a very good camcorder.the editing software could be better but thr camcorder its self is awesome. but you need a Pc w/ 1gb of ram at least and an intel pentium 4 processor at least and a good graphics card

  • I have the same camera, I can't figure out how to upload the video files onto Quicktime, I drag & drop it, but on the camera in the filefoler, PRG002, it shows, PRG001.MOI File & PRG001.TOD. so i open it using quicktime after installing the software it says improper duration. So i'm just asking could you make a video of how to upload files from the JVC Everio to computer, it would help me to figure it out.

  • Have you tried contacting tech support from JVC? I suggest doing that or go to videohelp (dot) com and ask the folks over there for some help. I transfer the files onto the computer and just drop them into my editing software, Sony Vegas. If Quicktime won't open them, try downloading the free VLC player, that player works great and plays everything. I'm too busy to make how-to videos, though. Sorry.

  • nice

  • Listen i want to start making movies, and I have a good $5,000 to spend on a camera, What camcorder is good for movies? With WideScreen, Great Quality like HD. I wanna make it so it looks like a great movie. What do you recommend? Thanks alot

  • You are asking the wrong guy, sorry. I don't make movies, just home videos.

  • Ok sorry to bother you..

  • im starting to make videos to and i recomend you start slow. i started with a small jvc gr-d350u and entered contest placed 2nd in most of them. start small save your money and get good friends.

  • The best camera to buy is a JVC GY-110U HDV camera. I think it runs about 3500 dollars or a little bit more. You don't really need to buy the new JVC HDV camera. you can still buy the old one and get the same qaulity.

  • Are you saying you get the same quality with a non-high definition camera than with a high definition? No way, I don't agree with that.

  • That camera is a high definition camera. But, the JVC GY-110U HDV. shoots in 720p and it has a better resultion then most cameras. it is even better then 1080i cameras.

  • The quality from this camera totally blows away the quality from my miniDV Sony Handycam.

  • dude if you got 5 grand go withgt the sony hdr fx7 thats a great camcorder it has lost of cinema effects too. but if you want lots of money on equipment the jvc everio gz-hd7 is good..

  • Hi Shane,

Excellent demonstration! Thank you for sharing your experience while you go through them. Ever thought of doing some documentary with it? It should be interesting! Cannot wait to see your creative juice on YouTube!!!

    Mezza

  • hey what website was this on and would u recommend it?

    thanks

  • You can Google it for the best website, I don't recommend the website I used. I don't know if I would recommend this camera either, I'm having some problems with it.

  • what kind of microphone is that?

    **please reply

  • Just some Sony external microphone.

  • Also Would You Recommend That Camera?

  • It's Funny That I Was Looking At That Same Camera Online. I Didn't Even See This Video.

  • Thanks so much for that! I think I will be getting this exact model very soon! Are you still happy with butterflyphoto? I'm thinking of buying through them. Thanks again!

  • Just be careful, they try to upsale you extra stuff. Just be firm and stick with what you are buying. I did in fact agree to by the $99 two year warrantee.

  • Hey shane hos do you put the strap on i cant figure it out

  • I don't know, I haven't figured it out either. LOL.

  • dude , you get 5 stars from me , nice camcorder and nice review ;) good work

  • Thanks.

  • full hd?

    1080i isn't full hd

    sony says the same shit

  • I dont understand how to get the actual video clips onto my computer. All I can do is backup the .TOD's. What do I do? Send me a private message please!

  • The software that comes with it is garbage for viewing. Videos dont review very well directly from HD, need to copy elswhere then they play great.Havent tryed night yet. Suks batterys bad, especially if lcd is on. Already got a charging base on order. Dont like having to use camera to charge batt.

46mm filters wont be found at Best Buy. Got those online too. A wider angle view is also another good online option too.

    overall 5stars

  • Hey moose jvc if your going to call someone retarded, don't mess up you spelling after it ok, retard.

    i like the vid anyways.

  • are you retarded auto focus fucks up everything turn the outo shit off you get better results

  • So you don't have to go and insult me over it. What's your problem? I use the auto stuff because it's too much of a pain in the ass to figure out the manual stuff. When you are walking around with the camera I would have to constantly be focusing it. Forget that.

And next time, don't insult people for things you don't agree with. Okay. It's not polite.

  • shane. this was like 4 months ago. i was hella imature. dont take offense by it no more.

  • So you matured that much in four months? Okay. That's good.

  • yeah man. high school took its toll on me.

  • Do u still like the JVC. I see you got one in June. Just charged some batterys yesterday for the first time myself.

  • niceeeeee

  • Alright man appreciate the reply. Thanks

  • I just haveone question cause ive messed with this camera alot at best buy trying to decide on whether to get it but the thing stopping me is how good is this camera at recording at night time? Thats all i need to know since it doesnt have night shot or anything

  • I haven't really used it much at night time, sorry. If a video comes out a little too dark I just brighten it up in my video editor.

  • wahh no fair...i want one

  • Just ordered one.. UK PAL. 834 gb pounds.

  • nice you are the same as don't like others hear me talking to myself

  • Yeah, I've always been like that. I just get too self conscious about that kind of stuff, it sucks. Thanks for the comment. :)

  • Thanks for the video. It made my mind up to buy this camcorder. I found it for $549.

  • What about of NightShot?

  • There is no nightshot.

  • I asked store what add-on mic an tripod it used and got a blank "dunno" answer? Need a wide angle for long scene shots, whole room.

  • what type of lenses can u add on?

  • I don't know.

  • hey in four years when it's a peice of garbage can u send it to me?? pleaseee!!!

lol I'm dieing for it...i tested it out at best buy... (holy sh*t) I got a little happy in my pants lol jk. Nice camera... thx for the review...

  • ive seen its a small camcorder... u think it works for professional broadcast television? or it just get short?

  • I don't know.

  • nice vid does it work as well as it's advertised? do u make movies or did u just get it for home videos and stuff like that?

  • I mainly got it for home videos, but I do record some programs as well. I think it works as well as advertised.

  • ok thanks

  • Hey, its psphelper but i made a diff account, are u going to send me that raw video from ur camera?

  • Oh, you never got back to me to tell me you wanted that or not after I suggested it.

  • ohh well um do u have AIM, or Skype?

  • I have both actually, but I don't use them for transferring files. I use megaupload for that. I'm leaving for church now and won't be able to do it until later today.

  • it seems to be a very nice camcorder May I know whats its price ?

  • It's always changing. Do a Google search for the JVC GZ-HD7 and see what prices come up. I paid just under $1,200.

  • Too bad that compared to the HV20 it sucks big time...have a fun time with a defective image stabilizer and no 24p!

  • Sheesh, what a diss your comment is. Look, the camera works, it takes videos and plays back the videos and totally blows away my old camera. Sounds to me like you are just knit picking big time on small details.

  • Ur a really nice guy! ^^

  • thats almost exactley how they packaged my jvc, i have the g-r700 mini dv cam and i was actually not that pleased with how they just rap it up in that plastic instead of putting atleast some styro foam around it because it seems like it could get damaged easily but i dunno

  • get an xha1 or xl h1!

  • I'm not getting any other camera now, I already bought this one.

  • smart boy!

  • tu sei handicappato, ma la videocomera è davvero una figata!!!

  • English please.

  • if only it was mini DV...better quality than pixils

  • I disagree. I've been using MiniDV with my old camera since 2003, I'm sick of tapes.

  • well i like them because they cant be accidentaly be deleted and easy to keep track of .....for me.....and fast uploading to pc with fire wire, and more lines of resolution

  • This camera is full HD, so it has all the lines of resolution that a full HD camera, miniDV or or otherwise, would have. You can run just as much a risk, if not greater, deleting video from tapes. It's too easy to recorder OVER existing footage on a tape. With hard drive cameras it makes a new video each time you press record. Very very cool.

  • ya but for wat im filming i cant accidently film over anything,,, and idk how the actual quallity of ur camera is cuz youtubes playback quality sucks, if u wana upload HD videos to youtube convert to Quicktime or WMV 1MBPS

  • Yep, that's what I do. WMV at 1 Mbps. :)

If you want I can upload a raw file from this camera if you would like to see the actual quality.

  • no because youtube will distort your quality. and i relized somthing...i saw ur camera at best buy.....MAD SEXY! but is it really $1,799? or did u get it for cheaper? i got the new JVC GR-DA30US with fisheye lens!

  • I didn't mean upload it to YouTube, I meant sending you the raw file. The camera was listed at Best Buy for that much? This is why I never buy electronics from that place, I always buy online, always MUCH cheaper than Best Buy. It's a great store, but seriously they are a rip off.

  • when you open it your like a kid on christmas but nice cam!

  • LOL... Thank you. It's still exciting even though I'm the one who ordered and paid for it. :)

  • ohh....you can send me the video over AIM or skype(send me a message for my screen name), ya i only buy from best buy if i cant find a lower price

  • Also, it's MUCH MUCH MUCH faster uploading to the PC with hard drive cameras because there is no capturing. Since the footage is already finished files all you have to do is transfer the files and it takes a third of the time than real time capturing. Big plus for me.

  • hi..but if i use the camera for hang glide you think the hard disk will disable it-self? AND if i make a dvd, can i see it on EVERY dvd system?

  • Very funny.

  • which do you think is better the canon hv20 or the jvc GZ-hd7

  • I've never used the hv20 so I have no idea how it compares.

  • does the image stableizing work or is it bad and do you really need it

  • Just like all the reviews say, the image stabilization does in fact suck. It doesn't work at all when enabled which is a shame because this is such a good camera otherwise. It matters most when you zoom in, that is when it looks very shaky. I would suggest using a tripod if you are going to be zooming it with it.

  • ok thank you

  • i heard thats these types of camera like the one you have its hard for the files to go on the internet is that true?

  • It depends how you render them. I just rendered them to WMV files before I uploaded them to YouTube. If you have no problems rendering the files from these cameras then you should have no trouble getting the video online.

  • OK thanks so much!!O_0

  • how long is the battery life

  • The battery that came with it only lasts an hour. I have to get another one that is larger.

  • is the video quality good like is it what you expectedor is it ok like a regular camcorder

  • Oh no, it's not like a regular camcorder. It's a much higher quality image and the resolution is much larger. It's the most crisp and clear image I ever seen from a consumer video camera. It's good stuff.

  • So wonderful camrecorder!

i will buy a JVC to for my birthday but it will not be expensive like yours!

    greetings from the rainy Paris

  • u had me more excitted then u were. u didnt show the footage ):

  • I did show the footage, it's in another video. Please go look.

  • If you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay for it?

  • Around $1,200. It's months later, so I'm sure you can get it for much less now.

  • yeah.

    1 grand.

Im getting a $500 HP laptop instead.

  • very attracted introducing, I wish to buy one.

  • i love you

  • dutchboy

I had ordered also this camera via internet

only was not satisfied with the image quality

thus I had bought someone else camera with the

    brand canon xm2.

I was more happy with mine canon xm2 than that

    jvc camera

  • it's never gona be rubbish in 4 years! more like 100 years! this camers is amazing..

  • Only time will tell. :)

  • hey is it a good choice or not bis it a good camera altogether where you looking for this specific one or just sort of found it

  • how is the camera altogether was it a good choice or could you have done better? and did u just find that one when u were looking for it or did u Just go Oh i like this one?

  • I guess the camera is a good choice, I do like it. I didn't look at any others in comparison before I ordered it, I was time pressured because I had to film a video at work and I needed a new camera right away. I found out about this camera from someone else who had it and I didn't want to deal with tapes anymore. So, I think this camera was a good choice.

  • you should make a video on how to use the camcorder and show everyone what all thr features do

  • I don't think I have the patients for that.

  • LMAO !!!!

play for like 1,54 to 2,03.

but dont watch the video, Minimize it

    LOL!!!

yes opening new things is very exciting

  • Huh? Why, what are you talking about? O_o

  • where did u purchase it from im getting a great deal on ebay where ther is one for 1,420$ and comes with 2 differnt lenses 2 tripods 2 cases and a cleaning kit as well as 3 filter lenses all seller included

  • I got mine from butterflyphoto dot com. Sounds like you are getting a good deal.

  • wow i really saw the difference between the video on ur other i think webcam its a lot better

  • You are so lucky give your self a dab/pat on the back. I am getting this camera for about around £700. Yes, that's right. Where did you buy it and how much?

  • I ordered it online for $1,187 or something like that.

  • this video is never gona load propperly!!!

  • Great camera, I love it!

  • Me too. :)

  • dutchboy

what is the different be jvc gz hd 7 and the sony high difination camcorder.

  • I wish I could tell you, but I don't know since I never used the Sony high def. Sorry.

  • dutchboy

friend is this an proffesional camcorder i mean the quality off the lens

  • I just got this camera last week, its awsome!!! I went to best buy and the guy working there said that he was going to ucf which has one of the best video production schools in florida, and he has this camera to. I got mine from buttrfly photo for really cheap.

  • Yeah, that's where I got mine. Butterfly Photo, pretty good. Congrats on the camera. :)

  • I just bought a HD7 camera, I can´t wait to open the box, it´s already at customs!!

  • Do you know what camcorder is best for movement for like sports or running, jogging?

  • Its already a piece of garbage Shane. JVC is screwing all that purchased it, including myself. "OIS is working to factory specifications" my ass.

  • I agree that the OIS doesn't work, but that doesn't make the camera a piece of garbage. You just have to learn to have a steady hand like the days before they came out with image stabilization. I don't even know if pro cameras have it.

  • You mean the old days like 1995 when I purchased a Sony hi8 with OIS that worked flawlessly. OIS is old hat and standard equipment on this price range camera.

  • JVC didn't expect it not to work on this new heavier lens but they were wrong so they turned it off due to high noise level. This is false advertising on JVC's part. Shane, run to your trash can and grab your packaging, rap it back up nicely and return it before it's too late. If not will you return yours and I will sell you mine for $900.? I'll take the hit and wait for another year when no Dramamine is required. Don't take this personal, just trying to get the word out.

  • I'm not taking it personal, I understand what you are saying. I'm okay with it, though. I have a steady hand and already have a steady cam tool I can use with it. No problem.

  • My first camcorder, Sharp Viewcam VL-E37U, I purchased in July of 1995 didn't have OIS.

  • I totally agree. I have been working camcorders for years and when you work with cameras that long, you sort of develop a steady hand.

  • It is, but the full raw footage is even more beautiful.

  • how much did it cost

  • $1,189 plus the $99 extended warranty and $9 shipping. I forgot to mention that in the video.

  • where did you get yours? i got it from prestige camra (dot) com

  • I got mine from butterflyphoto (dot) com.

  • Cool Shane!

  • hey nice camera is it high def?im thinking about geting one myself can u recomend something holla back

  • Yes, it's high definition and it's the very first consumer video camera that is full high definition.

  • I have the very same camera and I love it. The OIS isn't as bad as some people say. Automatic mode is quite decent but its real power is the manual mode. This camera makes very sharp high def footage and kicks serious ass when using a tripod. Nice preview, I'm sure you're gonna like your new cam.

  • So far I like it. The files are enormous, but the quality is AMAZING. Yeah, I heard a lot of bad things about the OIS as well, but I can have a pretty steady hand and I'm going to be using a steadicam or tripod a lot of times, too.

  • Hey Shane nice camera buddy and btw I love it how you get the viewer interested in something you are showing you are a pro at that :)

  • Ha ha, yeah. Opening packages on camera is fun, Mikma and T2Darlantan do it when they get packages, so I borrowed the idea from them to do the same.

  • The box says,

No Tape, No Disc. How is that possible? Cool camera from the looks of it. I like it how you show us when you get things and unwrap them. I can't wait to see the videos you're going to make with it, Shane!

  • It has a built in hard drive, that's how it doesn't use tapes or disks. I'm working on uploading the video that I shot with the new camcorder right now. That will be uploaded in a few minutes.
