it's not that gay couples want a piece of paper that legally says that they're in love, there are literally 1,138 federal benefits they are missing out on by not being married. and also, i don't think it's just the fact that they want to be married. if the country allows gay marriage, it means that it accepts gay people. that alone calls for a more peaceful society. i can't find a single secular reasonable argument against gay marriage.

Now here's where the problem comes in the government put out the marriage laws so that they can tax people who get married. When the USA first came about the government was not telling people who can and can't marry. In fact for 1000s of years governments had no say in people getting married. People can't find any real reason that takes into account every situation that may occur. The reason I say so is because for example.. Say there are two people in love who want to get married.. Both are born as girls however one in truth is a transgender FtM but is before the surgery and all of those such things needed to actually make the gender switch. Since medically it has been confirmed that there is such a thing as transgender.. Would that actually be considered "Gay marriage" ? People may point at the two and call them lesbians.. But then you also have transgenders and other such people.. There are also major arguments over those types of people, however it is a fact that most people forget when discussing gay marriage. Also, people can get drunk and get married and not even know each other. Another point I wanna throw out there. I think "Divorce" should be illegal rather than gay marriage. Cause It's "Death do us part" not "Oh, I was stupid I didn't love you so I'm going to leave you and do this again." In my opinion. If gay marriage is legal the only thing that will happen is its going to give closed minded fools one more thing to fuss about even though it doesn't even concern them.

I love how you brought up we are still going by the constitution that was written way back when and so forth. Yet we kind of aren't anymore cause I THINK (Might be wrong not sure, its something my friend told me one time) that interracial marriage was once illegal too. (Correct me if I'm wrong...) All the activists I know are huge partiers, jump from guy to guy in weeks, and granted there are some who are in that stable marriage worthy relationship but I just think that a lot of the ones who are for it and force it down throats are just going to abuse it. Um i totally have gay people's backs i mean no i'm not gay myself but my older sister is and her and her girlfriend have been together for almost 2 years now and i'm happy for both of them but she hasn't told our parents. My family thinks that her girlfriend is just a roommate but i think they need to know the truth cause my sister can't show her true self and she's scared of what will happen.
