So I've got to write a report on Victor Grignard. 30 seconds or so of a biography which I got done, then about 4 minutes of explaining the science that lead to his Nobel Prize. Which I would do but cannot not understand this at all... Everyone else in my class got people with easier stuff.
Wow! So glad I found you, chemprof98! I love this video, and your style of teaching. I'm so glad to hear a teacher finally use the word stupid. It's a great word! And I also love chicken/chick!
These lectures are really good...they are easy to understand, clearly and concisely explained, informative and most importantly fast paced. I can learn the information I want to know, but not be bored or feeling like I want this to be over with. I've seen many a lecture where I wanted to turn it off in the first few minutes because of the pace.
Tom mate, you are a life saver even in Australia! :D
As if no one laughed at ur palette thing :P I thought it was hilarious!
Go for the DVD's - you're great at teaching and you should sell well once people find out about ya. Not to mention, u'll save alotta poor second year Uni souls!
Thanks, this video describes grignard reactions well. I found it while looking on youtube for some examples of grignard reactions taking place (unfortunately didn't find much) and it helped quite a bit :)
You should make more chemistry videos! Teach us more plz.

Kicyoaz,
Thanks for the kind words. Glad that you liked it. My students have these bits available to them to supplement their text. They seem to like them.

This is super interesting. Almost makes me wish I'd majored in chemistry instead of music.

Thanks for the kind words. Remember in the "good old days" the best chemists were musicians.

@beal270 Why's that? I've been considering going back to school to study a hard science; why shouldn't I?

where can i find additional video's ? sick lecture

this reaction should be flame dried, cuz the gringard easily reacts with water so you gotta make sure you are working with dry conditions.

Funny you should mention the DVD option.
I am currently discussing that possibility with a publisher now.
