The Fierce Deity used a spell and forced it to dance for three days and nights, causing it to die from the effects of the spell.The tribe that was tormented by majora, took the Skull and carved it into a mask. Unfortunately, the Mask kept its powers. Considering that much, Yeah, I think that the templemakers actually knew about Majora.
