  • Ive seen alot of videos for the golden nugget and cant wait to ride it this year at knoebles!!

  • I always found those (Tracy?) bats creepy as hell.

  • @CaptainCrane

have you seen the Haunted house in Ocean city. It is on the facade and I agree with you,it is kinds creepy.

  • love this ride

  • All I remember about this ride was it scared me as a kid. Till this day I don't remember why but I wish it was still there to find out. I also remember the Keystone Cops (which I loved) and a pirates ship ride. Wildwood was at it's peak back in the 80's and 90's. Now it's crap

  • Was this footage taken during the fan farewell day? Had I known about it I would have been there.

I love this ride and all the others like it that Wildwood had. Esp Dracula's Castle. That town... the world is not the same without these rides. These things had a very special moody (and musty) atmosphere that was just priceless.

  • I really miss all the old ride on the boardwal, since the nineies the board walk has gone way down hill, BRING BACK THE DARK RIDES!!!!!!!!!

  • Does anybody know what the LV stands for? What was the first season the ride didn't run, and why was it allowed to fall into disrepair? What the heck is a trashed mini helicopter doing up there?

  • I am an avid coaster enthusiast and a ride attendant at knoebels, i was excited when i heard that they purchased the golden nugget. I was a little disappointed that the high speed thrill coaster is being removed but this is a good coaster to replace it, i am just not sure where they will put it, but it is going to be in very good hands with the Knoebel family

  • All my friends were upset bout the HSTC when I told them that they removed it. It was a classic. R.I.P. I always loved the smell of it, and if the operator was cool and there was no line, you could go around as many times as you wanted..lol

Knobels does an amazing job of relocating rides, and bringing back classics!

  • The smell! YES!!! If I get cancer someday because of this ride it will be an honor!

  • Thats awsome news, thanks for posting, I'm thrilled to hear that the nugget will still be around, with the destruction of The castle and the Raping of Dantes inferno, it's nice to know one of the good old dark rides is being saved.

  • I was one of the first hundred riders back in 1960 .Proud to say that ,Thanks for all the fun memories Hunt Family ..I'll miss the Golden Nugget Ride on the Wildwood boardwalk !!

  • This has been my favorite ride my whole life. I've always been happy to at least see it still standing since so many other rides have disappeared. Now the last of the great Wildwood rides will become just a memory. I will be there on Jan 31 to say goodbye to a dear old friend.

  • Golden Nugget Purchased by Knoebels!

After much speculation Amusement Today revealed on January 26 that the Golden Nugget track was purchased by Knoebels Amusement Resort. yay

  • It really doesn't matter.

My memory of the ride is firmly attached to its original location. Eating at Joe's Pizza (renamed Hot Spot) and seeing the Mine Ride over yonder with the Tip Top next to it and the Huss Ranger behind it while I chomped down on some pizza.... Frikken Awesome!!! My whole experience of being in WW as a kid was just to die for!

  • The Nugget was full of detail and intricacy. The cutouts that let you to look out over the coastline as you rode up the incline. The way the train cars would brake to allow you to see a prop, then speed up, then slow down. The drops to total darkness, the props and sound effects were just continual as you rode thru. The track ride in itself was a work of art that made the journey seem so much bigger than it was. Thanks again Golden Nugget for we share many memories that no one can take away.

  • The rumor mill has it that Knoebles in Pa has bought this attraction. I never heard of this ride before I heard this rumor, but I am a Big fan of Knoebels. They are a top notch organization with a passion for taking care of historic amusement park rides. If they are indeed the "secret" buyer (this seems like it is right up their alley, they have a mining museum in their park) fans of this attraction have nothing to worry about.Golden Nugget will ride again.

  • Tell them how you feel. Do not let them demolish this ride without your voice being heard. Morey's Piers 3501 Boardwalk Wildwood, NJ 0826 Phone: (609) 522-3900 Fax: (609) 729-0788. There are rides across this country similar to the Golden Nugget that have been in operation since the 1920s. This ride can be restored, they are tearing it down to make way for a multi-level GoCart track.

  • Do you have any idea who bought the tracks and cars? It is so sad that this ride is going to be demolished. It was one of my favs a kid. I would never go on any pier except for Hunt's when I was a kid. I love the lady screaming at the end of the video. That part of the ride always scared me because it always felt like the ride had stopped at that point and it was so dark you couldn't see and then all of a sudden she started screaming and you saw the fake mine car come at you.R.I.P. Golden Nugget

  • @catdogcat05 knoebels in Pennsylvania they are remodeling and they might call it the black diamond??

  • demolished!

  • That just about brought tears to my eyes. I think I rode her every year it was open, and to see those pictures, well, you truly forget what an awesome ride it IS! Wow, I wish I won that 124m in the mega millions that was just picked up this week. I would have given the Morey's the money to bring her back.

    Thanks my friend.

  • My family always vacationed every June in Wildwood during the early to mid 1970s. I was only eight or nine then, but I clearly remember going to Hunt's Pier at night to ride rides. The Gold Mine ride was one of the best (besides the Whacky Shack), and this video brings back a lot of memories. I also remember the other Haunted House (which I think was on a different pier) that had live actors inside of it. It was a walk-through house -- scary for a kid like me. Great video of the Gold Mine.

  • Why are the cactuses on the track and boarding platform? It looks all intact in there. It would be a real shame to lose it simply because the Morey's couldn't afford to restore it. It would be a great ride to have with the new wood coaster coming in a few years which will fly over the former Hunt's Pier. I just hope with the down economy the Morey's won't be able to afford to TEAR IT DOWN and will leave it sit until they can make a wise decision.

  • Thanks yet again Ralph. Cant ever get over the mixed feelings seeing this stuff. Incredibly happy/obsessed, but also heartbreaking/eerie. A last abandoned artifact waits 24/7, a spooky shell holding everyone's memories! If only all could be restored: smells, colors, sounds. Vintage motels, eateries, boardwalk. It was its own kinda glorious, hard to let go. Haunting to look back, but rewarding to be part of a small community of folks who haven't even met but all share something in their hearts.

  • Fantastic - thank you, Ralph! We can't let the Golden Nugget die - it's the best attraction the Wildwood Boardwalk has ever had to offer.

  • Ralph: What a tribute to this great ride!

Great job, enjoyed it over and over...

  • EXCELLENT VIDEO!!!! How did you get in there?
