under the track matte option, you can select different matting options, the one I used was luma inverted, the matte layer goes above the layer you want to affect.
color matte, no, I used a track matte "LUMA matte" to solo the layers, no color/hue selection needed since I am wearing such a dark contrast to the wall in this shot.
thanks, I know what you mean. Everyone beats Kramer's tutorials to death on youtube. I must admit I've learned most of what I know from Kramer and other tutorials, but the talented people are the ones who can see the possibilities and create their own effects.
sorry about that. I used the CC_threshold plug-in and turned up two of the channels to max and adjusted the 3rd to show just myself... but it only works if the subject highly contrasts the background, like my black clothes against the light walls. Then you can de-saturate the footage to take all the color out and you have a B/W track matte.
I had to use the same technique for like 5 minutes ago, so I searched youtube for a while, and I found this vid again:D Thanks! Needed some blood to be behind myself on a wall;)

I used AE CS3, transfer settings are changed to track matte for that layer

you said you used a program to make the matte.. I already own AE7, but I though u used a different program/plugin for the matte.
