We need hi more than ever. He´s a bit of a fool though. Lying about a dead granny. then lying again and again. He needs to get his head screwed on right. Either he´s being selfish, or just a big pussy. Maybe in the next few years or hopefully sooner, he´ll come round to himself and grow up. he´s a hell of a player for city. the reason i heard why he wont play is because the irish players bullied him. it was when he 1st shaved his head, that day the irish team had a team meeting but ireland was late for it. the management team warned the squad not to mock him coz he is a firery person. but when he came in the players mocked and laughed at him and pinned him to the ground and started giving him nuggies and calling him a baldy b*s*a*d

the team could be potentially strong even without ireland the back line is grand,, midfield our options are steven reid,duff,mcgeady,andrews,hunt and their are up and coming players such as darron gibson,owen garvan,and james mccarthy i expect at least 2 of the young lads to be challenging for a centre mid role by the time the world cup comes, as for stephen ireland i'd reckon his international career is over,

I'd love to understand his reasons as to why he won't come back. Nobody seems to have an answer to that question. I guess only Stephen Ireland knows. Regardless of what happens it's his decision. I just hope for his sake he doesn't regret his retirement in a few years. Although to be fair he has had a few run ins with managers in the past, eg Kerr. He seems to be difficult to handle. It might sound crazy but maybe the Irish team is better off without him and vice versa.
