@DesertSafire Thank you so much hun......Hope all is going well with your new journey in life....May God Continue to Bless You and Your little ones.....
@K0R3619 My canner calles for 3qt. of water...But not all canners use the same ammount, read you manual, and if you do not have it then google you canner and the manual....No it does not....
well i told my wife that when we can up some deer meat if any jars dont seal up right them are the jars that get turned into mince meat for pies and cookies just a idea for the ones that dont seal up
Everything looks great Yall sure did get a lot of deer meat this year Here in Missouri we had nasty winds and rain just about our whole rifle season always have next year :)
@2024JayZ Thank you, yes but I sure hope we get more.....It started here Nov. 19, and is open till Jan.1st...And we are allowd 3 bucks, and 3 does a day till you get 12 of the....Better luck next year...
@mmlrc6atgmailcom Thanks for the info. I kind of suspected but wanted to make sure. How do you maintain the proper heat and pressure for the caner on the wood stove? I would imagine it would have to be like an art rather than a science since there are no temp knobs.
@subtac You are welcome....I guess you just learn how to use it, sometimes it is hard to control the right temp, espically when baking a cake.....It helps to be able to put something over the top of it to make sure it cooks through before the top browns......
Good video.> How to can safely> tell people the problem, point at the problem & explain the problem. =A lot of people are taking-up canning or at least to have supplies on hand to 'save' the food they have in a freezer if the power goes out.
+ "Put in frig for sandwich or we'll have it later on"> often means Mountainman will eat it for lunch tomorrow. (It's not meant to be personal> it's just women have been saying things like that since the days of Adam & Eve.)
@rdnkrfnk NO i did not got a late start .had to carry some people to build fence .was a pain in the ass . got put on a new spot 500 ac in the middle of nowhere .set in a ground blind from 9.30 to 4.00 . wind blew 25 to 35 in my face 57 deg but felt like 37 .this place is cover up with deer .was there by my self . loratabs run out .hole body feels 90 years old .makes 775 ac to hunt this year . got toi make best of it . both farms will be up for sale soon . great place no houses for 7 miles mm
@mmlrc6atgmailcom sounds like a great place i know the feeling when them pain meds wear off theyve got me on hydrocodone im only huntin on a cpl hundred acres i seen a doe this morning bout 45 mins after i got to my blind she was following me same doe that was with the buck i shot last weekend i think she may be stalking me lol hope she brings another boyfriend by my stand
@rdnkrfnk LOL......I would have brought her home with me....The licence I have here lets you bring 3 does home a day every day till you have 12 of them in all.....and 1 Buck a day ....She wouldn;t be following me long, except in the back of the truck!!!
@mmlrc6atgmailcom she would be in the freezer by now iffn i had that many tags fer deer here im allowed 2 bucks and 2 does all season n aince the rut is just starting im leaving the does until after i get my other buck i usually have this all taken care of before thanksgiving weekend and then hunt does out on the govmnt land instead of my lease but i get to shoot all the hogs i see
ive never tried cooking a turkey like that i usually just put em in the deep fryer that canned venison looks good id prolly rather have the venison than the turkey lol
@mmlrc6atgmailcom they are good and not hard to deep fry ive got a turkey in the freezer i may try yer way as we always cook one between thanksgiving and christmas anyways
I use to use Vaseline in my American canner. The lid always stuck and I had to use a screwdriver to pop it loose. Also the jars always had a skim of Vaseline on them that was kind of gooey to get off. Katzcradul suggested using olive oil on the rim of the lid. It has never stuck again. It also doesn’t leave that gooey film on the jars.
hey misty a few Q's for ya im not a real big deer meat fan but with the way things are going i can get use to it. Have you ever used the bones , to cock in pinto beans like a ham hoc, it that any good? i have some friends that are going to be bringing me a few deers im thinking of having made into hamburger and summer sausage my next q for you is that sausage mix were can i find it what was the name ty
@canfaller Yes you can use the bones, I would boil them down and get all the meat off them I could and can it like broth, the extra jars.I use "Leggs Old Plaintation" They have it reg, and spicy....if you will pm I will send you there link. I buy it from our local grocery store, for $1.99 a bag that does 25lb of sasuage at a time.....It is the best I have used.....
@curlybobz It really is good ,it gives it this wonderful taste...i use a whole jar of it, and several big spoonfulls of butter.....It makes it moist, and a unique flavor.....Thank you!
@goingoffgridblog I would give this double thumbs up if I could....If I could find turkey for this price, I would be canning some too....In a heart beat! Thank you!!!
@mmlrc6atgmailcom if i could afford to mail them to you i would... but our local store..Hannaford's is the name... they are a chain... has HUGE turkeys..40c a lb..we just got a 35 lb turkey for i think around 12 or 13 bux!!!
