Soviets may have been slightly screwed if the game was played correctly. Noone knows, did he call time out or not? Did he waive it off? But the way they did it, USA was severely screwed.
If Americans decide that they have won, then why do they have agreed to replay? Then they saw that the board broke and decided that the replay is possible! I just did not calculate and lost. Who will blame if they are lamers? Let sued Longines whose boards.

I just listened to her again. She's not saying, "Three seconds." She's saying, "Cheat!" "I think we can beath them if we put three seconds back on the clock!" "Cheat I said!" "Cheat!" I took Russian and believe me that's what she said.
Whether or not the man is lying about what she's saying, there was so much wrong with that victory that there's really no denying that the game should have gone to the Americans, or at least that the victory is suspect. Even you pro-Russian commenters have to admit that there's something very wrong with giving a team three tries to beat another, no matter who the two teams are. You do know the full story behind this right? The Russians had 2 start overs plus 3 seconds and they also called a time out when they didn't have one. But i wouldn't expect an idiot like to to understand that since you think they won and USA lost but good try.

simple: the soviet coach asked for a timeout between two free throws and it wasnt given so 2 more seconds should be played, beside the second that was left because the soviet coach left the bench area. then the horn sounded but it was programmed with only 1 second left. the game restarted with 3 seconds again and the soviets scored. fair victory.

IMHO: Americans won the match. The Electrical score-board had wrongly added 3 seconds. Somewhere in Wikipedia is full story.
And the woman (commentator)had said nothing about "cheat". Believe me - I'm russian.

That guy who did that, btw, was the secretary of FIBA--who had no authority at all to do so, by FIBA's own rules. That 3 soviet-block judges upheld this gross violation of the rules shows just how political the games were at the time; and that the US players were right not to accept those silver medals the USSR earned.

I just listened to her again. She's not saying, "Three seconds." She's saying, "Cheat!" "I think we can beath them if we put three seconds back on the clock!" "Cheat I said!" "Cheat!" I took Russian and believe me that's what she said.

Whether or not the man is lying about what she's saying, there was so much wrong with that victory that there's really no denying that the game should have gone to the Americans, or at least that the victory is suspect. Even you pro-Russian commenters have to admit that there's something very wrong with giving a team three tries to beat another, no matter who the two teams are. It'd be one thing if it was running out of time that made the difference, but it wasn't - it was two bad passes.
