You didn't hear the full story. The little boy's stepfather lover/girlfriend told him to put the needles in the boy. The mother of the boy was clueless to what was happening to her son until the boy started complaining about the pain. Apparently the man's lover/girlfriend wanted revenge on the little boy's mother. Basically the man was cheating and tried to kill his step son because his new lover/girlfriend told him to.
