These trains set the STANDARD, they were so comfortable and inviting (no florescent tubes then). There are still resistance controlled trains still working on the UndergrounD viz "A", "C", "D" Surface stock and 1972 stock on the Bakerloo and the very good 1973 stock on the Piccadilly line. The door motors used on the Bakerloo and Piccadilly stock are refurbished 1938 stock items! So there is a part of these old trains still in service today!
Can these trains not be upgraded so that they can be run with the new signalling? It seems a shame that these old trains are consigned to sitting idle in the LU museum at Acton and not transporting passengers around on special excursions.
What kind of camera did you film this with? It seems to have this effect of stretching the picture around the edges, like an effect lense? I'm dying to find out what is it that gives this effect!
But doesn't a fish eye lense make the image like it's in a glass ball? I always thought that's the effect it gives. I thought the wide angle effect is due to something else... is it really fish eye? Does it come for many different cameras? Even the amateur ones?...
Haha, so I was right ;) I asked a professor at my school about it, because I was dying to know. He actually mentioned a Fisheye lens and I thought it was not what I was after, but maybe some lenses do give this effect too. I'll try to get both, so I will really know how Fisheye and Wide angle lenses affect the image :)
Nice shots and nicely done video too. Has anyone noticed how the hand grabs don't swing about a vigorously as they used to? I remember as a kid in the 60s watching the row of dangling hand grabs dancing about all over the place. Mind you I suppose the track work was a lot bumpier then too.
I'm watching all the vids of yesterday's run on Trip 2, as I was being interviewed by BBC London, LBC and London Transport Museum! I think my shirt with the tube map on it caught their eye!

@Dustie1984 It's A fish Eye lens, Google it, i use mine all the time, it makes you able to see more from a closer distance. Good luck!

it was not a fish eye lens, it's a 10mm wide angle lens :)

Finally I got an answer from you! Thanks ;) I was thinking the same, and luckily I booked a wide angle lens to rent from school today.
