  • I could never fathom how illustrious the art of Biryani must be, but, by some earthly miracle!, I too, can now perfect it! Also, are you, per chance, a Midlander? (your accent is tinged with a comforting sound that can only be attributed to Midlanders!)

  • @KianiKings I'm from West Bromwich :-)

  • @xXxLumesUplnFumesXxX

@mynaMoideen is right! its clarified butter, we call it 'ghee' in urdu and hindi :-)

  • i do love a good ruby murray and this is my faaaaavorite :)

  • Oh, Titli. If you only knew what "ghee" means in Ireland...

  • @xXxLumesUpInFumesxXx I think it's best if I dont know...

  • @TitliNihaan ghee means clarified butter

  • @TitliNihaan ghee means clarified butter

  • Titli your the best ;)

  • Very nice, I like strong flavours but don't have much experience with Indian food. Do you like Turkish food?

  • @Metsada007 I love Turkish food.

  • hey titli y u hav not fried the onions till they became brown bcoz for biryani fried brown onions r used

n they taste very well ur onions r not well mixed with curry

  • @saniyabg They ARE brown. Maybe you prefer yours black and crispy, but I prefer mine brown, soft and sweet. Much nicer.

  • You make it look so easy!! I can't wait to try it :)))

  • hmmm great

  • thank you for this biriyani recipe. man,now i'am hungry !

  • This was great. I am making it again.

  • I love ur style . U look like my aunty who lives in Pakistan so I respect u also

  • why do you put food colouring on the biryani?

  • hey Titli if you can cook lamb with the so called "dirt sauce" then why not with chicken ?Do be a liitle more mature and sensible.Spices are not "Dirt",so the next time you try to make a point try to do that without offending another cuisine

by the way I have eaten chicken biriyani with the so called "earthly spices" and they taste absolutely delicious!!!!!

  • @deborah4986 You can cook the chicken with the EARTHY (note the spelling) spices of black cardamom and black cumin if you wish. They are called "earthy" because they have an "earthy", rich taste to them, and the word "earthy" is a recognised term in taste phraseology.

I prefer to use this spice combination with chicken, replacing the black cardamoms and black cumin with their "lighter tasting" cousins.

  • Is it normal for plain yogurt to taste sour? :S

  • @SuperKnowledgeSponge To my taste I find that plain yoghurt always tastes slightly sour.

  • awoun akan

  • Titli nice one however if i may suggest if you use shah jeera (black cumin) it is much better to taste...

  • Respond to this video... I think jeera kala is too strong for chicken biryani. I use it for gosht biryani though :-)

  • awesomeness!!!

  • thnk u for making this clear

  • best biryani recipe

  • MUST. MAKE.THIS! O_O

  • what is the difference between mutton and chickem biryani recipe...ingredients looked the same

  • @Tyrosrocks Slightly different spices. Lamb can take the more "earthy" spices of black cardamoms and black cumin seeds. For the chicken biryani these spices are left out or substituted.

  • i just love you TITLI!! <3 <3 i tried this and it was soo nice:) :D

  • Your sweet style of presentation makes the recipe even more delicious!!

  • hi titli, you're saying that the rice should simmer for 1 minute, and then it gets cooked with the chicken for another 5 minutes, and im wondering if this time is enough for the rice to become soft?

  • you r cute

  • Salam Alaykum, this looks delicious! I will definitely try it!

  • i love how you make even the MOST difficult dish seem very easy for the average person to make. in fact I have made quite a few of your dishes and everyone thinks I am a super chef now!!!

    THANK YOU!!!!!

  • @emailchan11 Then my plan is working!

  • you should apply for come dine with me.. you'd do really well.. and it would get your face out there, people need to see more of you. favorite tv(ish) cook :)

  • @graeme4prez Thanks :-)

  • @TitliNihaan your very welcome :)

  • yummy yummy must try!!!!!!!!

  • salaam titli im hungry:)

  • Those South Asian breed, long grain rice look fancy, but tasteless... No matter how expensive the prices listed. I prefer Chinese and Japanese rice, a bit sticky, but very tasty.

  • @leontsiao Chinese rice goes with Chinese food, but Indian rice goes with Indian food the best!!! You don't understand!!! The basmati rice has a very nice soft texture. It goes so well with the spices and flavors!!! (I am Chinese too)

  • @leontsiao but it's healthy. :)

  • This looks like a tasty recipe, will definitely make this at least once!

  • Looks beautiful, i realy cant wait to make this :)

  • Mmmmmmmmmmmmm creamy goodness!

  • Hi Titli, I've just seen your video about the fabulous Lemon Meringue Pie, everything is clear except for the pastry, because I could not find a video where you show how to do it, can you help me please?

    Thanks!

  • @Giulsup it's on her website under 'basic techniques'

  • food coloring in water haha titli ur funnnyyyy

  • did u get ur kitchen remodeled?

  • Could you do the last bit in the oven? It is impossible for me to get my electric hob to a really low heat. I always get a burnt bottom! :-s

  • Titli tu veux pas m'adopter?

  • Hi Titli!! Love all your recipes <3 I was wondering if you could do a kashmiri chai tea. I know it's not cooking per se, but takes just as much preparation and is quite complex from what I understand. Thank you!

  • This looks like another fantastic chicken recipe! My kitchen will be busy this week...!

Quick question for you Titli, if using brown basmati rice, how might I need to adjust the rice cooking times (if at all)?

  • @Monchichito Where do you get brown basmati from?! I've never seen it or used it 8-o

  • @TitliNihaan In my area, one of the local grocers (Publix) sells it. As a chemist in training, I'll just have to experiment with it! :-) I imagine the cooking time is simply a few minutes longer to cook the thicker grain (maybe three to five minutes instead of one).

  • @TitliNihaan There's a co-op near my home that sells organic brown basmati rice. Perhaps you can order it? It's the perfect solution to having the healthy brown rice without losing that gorgeous basmati aroma and flavor.

My coriander consumption has tripled since watching your videos. For the life of me, I can't think why. :)

  • Creamy white goodness!!! Titli for the win!!

    \(^o^)/

    LOL

  • would this be suitable for children? as in not too spicy? i'm just getting into using spices and herbs in my cooking!

  • @chrissiemoda If you are worried about it being too spicy, just ease up on the chillis

  • Happy 2011 to you.

  • it looks yummy.. i will try it next time

    thanks for the recipe

  • ah Biryani, new year means new adventures and chellenges! thats why im gonna make your biryani tomorrow! till now, i was making mostly pulaos, but its time to evolve! :D thx for the recipe!

  • I've run out of ideas for chicken breast. I was on the verge of slathering them in buttercream frosting just to shake things up a bit. Thanks for the great video! : )

  • @heylookatmelookatme Did you check out my recent Adventures in Chicken???

  • I eat loads of Biryani's on my frequent trips to India.... its my favourite! will try this in the week as it looks well tasty.

  • deeeeelicious

  • OMG Titli!

Thanks so much for this recipe. It looks delicious. I'm cooking it as I type.

This is the kind of biryani recipe I like to see! I was thinking of making your lamb biryani but with chicken, but I thought that the red food coloring and all was a bit dodgy and didn't look like the biryani I know and love. This one does though. I'll comment again in a couple hours telling you what it was like! Smells amazing right now :O

  • looks yummy...a change from the usual curry..

  • this looks so yummyyyyyyy!!! thanks for this great recipe!!!!!!

  • @niokiniki It's a joke from a previous video. :)

  • I love chicken in yogurthy sauces, but I think I'll skip the rice part. I don't like rice at all, the funny is that I'm from the European leading city in rice production LOL

hope you had wonderful holiday time! :)

  • great recipe titli!

    this looks great =]

    x

  • finally..just what I need...thank youuuu

  • oh my goodnessss all of those onions, I'm drooling! That looked amazing!

  • Looks gorgeous! I wish you'd write a book Titli, I'd love to be able to know all your different recipes and tips.

  • About time. Someone who soaks their rice. The very key to great rice. And you mix cilantro/coriander. The latter is the seed.

  • @BeeRich33

i agree about soaking the rice! :D

my mum always soaks it and it taste yumyum! :')

  • @CutieNoorah Wash then soak. As if Titli's chicken isn't busy enough.

  • @BeeRich33

yeaaaah wash it a few times then soak it!! x

  • @CutieNoorah this could go anywhere at this point

  • you cook the rice like you cook pasta. I find this bizarre. But I don't judge.

  • @highflyer That's what I thought too! XD Maybe I'm too used of the korean way, because I just like rice if it's sticky. But that's just my personal taste :3

  • first

  • ...and a vegetable curry

  • i always love chicken and this seems like a great dish to try out.

so thank you titli i will try make it tomorrow :)
