@ashberry7209 - Personally, having only played that version so far myself, I would say I still found it very challenging (and I even had the luxury of playing alongside a Let's Play). Nonetheless, I find there is a lot to like about the Water Temple, including its excellent atmosphere, and the feeling of there always being some hidden, new thing around the next corner. It really was quite remarkable, imo, even if I wanted to pull my hair out half the time I was playing it.
I love this music. I FREAKIN' HATE THIS TEMPLE!!! Damn water dungeons trip me up every time, no matter how many times I play a game. Only redeeming thing about this temple is the battle with Dark Link.
this temple is over exaggerated. i only played this temple 2 times since the release of ocarina of time and it is sad how what i did in 2 hours(without guide) took you the rest of "your childhood"

@TheSean432 True, the temple was challenging but not impossible. I loved the temple. The forest temple, water temple and spirit temple where awesome to complete. Especially since it felt like you where solving puzzels of an old mysterious place, rather then a standard video-game dungeon.
man I hated the Water Temple, it would take me forever to beat it. @zupergozer well.... at the time there were no boots item it was an option thing on gear screen and when u had to go underwater (alot) u would have to pause. another problem could be the keys, there are keys all over the temple

Water Temple was the Hardest thing ever. it took me 3 years to figure it out 0_0. i finally made it when i was 8. the keys you guys probably got lost on was the key where you follow ruto and set the level to 1 then find a way to get it to the 2nd level then go back there and blow the wall up
4 Levels, too many fucking keys, got to have timing, the jumping spiders pushing you off things, the small bats, then clams, spiked ball things, switching from heavy to light boots and back, playing melodies 24/7, shadow link... fuck this temple man.
@Japancommercials4U2 Yeah I never found the water temple all that hard. It's actually pretty easy if you just focus. In fact, it's one of my favourite temples. I found the shadow temple hard, not in a confusing sense just the fact that at pretty much every corner there was some freak death accident waiting for you.
I really don't see how you lot found it so hard... it was no harder than the fire temple (my worst). But the again, I've only played it on 3DS, and apparently Shigeru Miyamoto made it easier on that platform.

You know that dungeon is not that hard with the compass. Its much much easier when you know where the chests are. But still, its a pretty hard dungeon even with the compass. The worst part for me was to find the boss room key... Even with the compass its still hard! WHo the fuck would have know it was hidden behind that stupid waterfall where rocks fall from XD! But anyways, Dark Link is pretty tough too, he is the first mini boss from the game I found hard to beat! Anyways! Still a great game!

Wanna know what's hard? doing the water temple on an emulator.. hardest thing I've done in A LONG time.. trying to aim the hookshot and arrows with your keyboard is a huge pain in the ass.. ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE ON TIMERS AND THE GATE CLOSES IF YOU CAN'T AIM PERFECT! took 50 different times me leaving to get more arrows....

Most people (I admit, Me to) Use the "Noob" way of fighting Dark link. Which, Is using Din's fire about 5 times. Since it hit's Him no matter what. Also, The Water temple was annoying and hard because You had to go into the same room multiple times, Adding to that, Equipping and Removing the Iron boots over and over again. Changing he water levels and of course finding the millions of keys.

@MrChadgage luckily the boss was pretty easy. I can't really understand why most people think Morpha is hard as hell. If anyone is hard, it would be Bongo Bongo(I swear, I came 6 times lose to throwing my controller at the screen, before I beat him)
@Theraiser2000 yeah, I mean it's bad enough having to get to the dungeon door in the 1st place with all those skeleton warriors attacking you and costing you vital health while on the boat. Whenever I froze one of his hands, the other hand always somehow managed to turn into a fist and punch me off the stage and cost even MORE health. Luckily by then, I knew how to take him out and then I breathed a HUGE sigh of relief when I did so.
Fucking Water Temple!!! I just completed this temple today. (I have this on my Wii) This time, I looked online for the walk-through because the last time I played it, it took me weeks to complete this temple. It was a bitch to complete back in 1998 obviously lol ._. I swear this is one of the hardest and confusing temples ever! I heard it's easier on the 3DS but too bad I don't have one :( Spirit Temple all the way!
you get a basic map as soon as you enter, the ocarina has a seperate button so you don't have to equip it and unequip it and you could equip more then three items so taking the iron boots on and off wasn't as bad.
This temple killed my speed run. Twice, I got so far only to realize there was tht one key I forgot to get. Even after I've beaten the game multiple times this temple never fails to annoy. -___-
@deryer The 3DS version is marginally easier due to: the iron boots can now be equipped without entering a menu, paths to places where you can change the water level are now marked beside the doors, and finally, the single toughest key to find is now very obvious.
They dumbed it down on the 3DS... stupid move imo... it was hard on the original N64 but not impossible... I enjoyed it myself as it took a good while to beat.
A splash of water to the face, a veil of mist...something so pure and essential that has become infused with evil and trickery. This songs truly help paint the picture of such a genius design...this hell hole we both despise and love.

@DevTitanwood - Really?? Fire Temple is annoying (esp. its enemies, e.g, fire bats, those blobs of postules, and the fire walls), but harder than Water Temple? Water Temple had like twice as many small keys as any other temple in OoT. Not to mention that it had easily the hardest miniboss in Dark Link.

I understand how people don't like the Water Temple, because of its tedious nature. What I found about the Water Temple that made it easy compared to Fire Temple is that all the rooms connected to one large room. The Fire temple had all these rooms and felt somewhat like a maze to me. It had more than one main room, and one mistake in the upper rooms can lead you do the ground floors. Water Temple also had easy Gold Skulltulas, Fire Temple's ones were pretty hard...

@LordMalice6d9 fire temple is the very easiest.I remembered the spirit temple being super long and taking forever and being tricky at times, but i got past it as a kid. Shadow temple is easy if you have the right equipment. if you dont know what youre doing, youre never gonna beat it and youre gonna be confused forever, which makes it second hardest temple. :d

you get a basic map as soon as you enter, the ocarina has a seperate button so you don't have to equip it and unequip it and you could equip more then three items so taking the iron boots on and off wasn't as bad.

This temple killed my speed run. Twice, I got so far only to realize there was tht one key I forgot to get. Even after I've beaten the game multiple times this temple never fails to annoy. -___-

@deryer The 3DS version is marginally easier due to: the iron boots can now be equipped without entering a menu, paths to places where you can change the water level are now marked beside the doors, and finally, the single toughest key to find is now very obvious.

They dumbed it down on the 3DS... stupid move imo... it was hard on the original N64 but not impossible... I enjoyed it myself as it took a good while to beat.

This temple is not that hard, If you have the dungeon map and compass it's a piece of cake!
The only annoying thing is that you have to keep pulling up the menu to equip and un-equip the Iron Boots

@DevTitanwood - Really?? Fire Temple is annoying (esp. its enemies, e.g, fire bats, those blobs of postules, and the fire walls), but harder than Water Temple? Water Temple had like twice as many small keys as any other temple in OoT. Not to mention that it had easily the hardest miniboss in Dark Link.
Sorry, I guess I'm stating this kind of forcefully; after all, these are only my opinions...
Would love to hear your reasoning b/c it's such an interesting perspective.

I understand how people don't like the Water Temple, because of its tedious nature. What I found about the Water Temple that made it easy compared to Fire Temple is that all the rooms connected to one large room. The Fire temple had all these rooms and felt somewhat like a maze to me. It had more than one main room, and one mistake in the upper rooms can lead you do the ground floors. Water Temple also had easy Gold Skulltulas, Fire Temple's ones were pretty hard...

@LordMalice6d9 fire temple is the very easiest.I remembered the spirit temple being super long and taking forever and being tricky at times, but i got past it as a kid. Shadow temple is easy if you have the right equipment. if you dont know what youre doing, youre never gonna beat it and youre gonna be confused forever, which makes it second hardest temple. :d
