  • he spent all his money on the cesium

  • that wasnt cesium.

  • what a waste of a really expensive metal

  • @nickcorn93 how is it a waste? there really isn't much you can do with it. And by your standards, the science department at schools waste this metal when they demonstrate this.

  • @NamesROverated Cesium can be combined with nitrogen to make optical glasses. Cesium salts are also used for strengthening various typed of glass. It can be used to boost the performance of metal oxides. So cesium does have a use, maybe to make people see better. But we drop it into water. xD Maybe everything's a waste from a view.

  • my house had a blackout when this video ended

  • anyone tried c(a)esium deep underwater? i wonder how long it would continue to explode

  • There's no way this is cesium. That's about as strong as our class' potassium reaction. Plus, Cs is a bit expensive for a home video version.

  • for some reason im doubting thats cesium... potassium probably though...

  • nice slide show

  • dude watch it slowly,it like jumps out stays in the air for a sec and dart diagonally o.o

  • He was too scared to hold the camera... so he used a mini tripod.

  • k so its a bad camera guys what if this kids poor.... lol shut up x.x

  • it's caesium

  • erm....is your hand still intact? just kidding :) thats a nice vid of cesium

  • Holy-Terrorist:>*=* Please, try it with cameras high quality !

  • the man can get cesium but cant get a better camera.. lol

  • @ed1vanjr cesium is really cheap

  • I CALL BULLSHIT NOOB!!! That was obviously 12 g of K, LEARN YOUR SCIENCE!!!

  • omg it was so fast we didn't even see what happened! oh wait, no the camera is really crap :P

  • Recorded with fridge?

  • Isnt cesium like.... radioactive?

  • @lopy78

No, Francium is radioactive. From Polonium and on, as well as Technetium and Promethium are all radioactive elements so far.

  • @MasterTonberryV1 more radioactive that uranium, just so ppl know.

  • @TenteixSaigo

Oh yeah. Cs is also radioactive, depending on the number of atoms.

And yes, Francium is just as dangerous in radioactive rays as Actinium or Thorium is.

  • @MasterTonberryV1

Close, the word you looking for is the number of neutrons.

  • @crazydave303

    oh yea

    wiki/Caesium

it's worth a look if you had question about it.

  • HAHAHA we actually saw what happened. sick shit!

  • Get a crapper camera. That'll make the viewers happy..

  • so i see you turned you calculator into a camera. lol!!

  • Is this camera from your Great-Great-Great(x100) grandfather's?

    Get a new camera! >:(

  • @Kaeleido

That camera is from 1892 - I saw a HUGE ASS splinter of wood sticking out at 0:09 from the top left.

  • ***** SPECIAL REQUEST ALERT *****

Please can you drop approx. 20g of FRANCIUM into 2 litres of WATER please.

    Much appreciated.

  • Comment removed

  • @Yawehplaneswalker616

Yes. That is why it was a JOKE.

    !!!

  • @Yawehplaneswalker616

Francium is a radioactive element and it's probably impossible extract itmaybe some femtogramms , what u mean is caesium u idiot

  • CESIUM FTW!!

  • instead of spending money on a gram of cesium

invest money instead on a new camera

  • HD......:P

  • To make an interesting video of a fast-acting chemical reaction, you need a camera capable of more than 3-4 frames per second.

  • imagine what would happen if you told somebody cesium tasted good and they put it in their mouth

  • next time try another camera!!

  • You can't get pure francium, but you can get it combined with other elements.

  • @roadrace456 but can't you then separate it from the other elements?

  • @ivche13 yes, but it is so unstable that it would be gone before you did anything with it.

  • @roadrace456 well what if you put it in water while it's ccombined with another element?

  • It won't react, because when it is combined with another element it has a completely different set of properties.

  • @roadrace456 not legally ;)

  • @Kaden970 ik. Im just saying its possible to get it combined

  • ur camera sux

  • Very surprising ...

  • You can't get francium, it's about as radioactive as the elements numbered 100 and above, so practically, you can only make a few atoms of it at a time. It can't even be extracted from ore, there isn't enough of it and by the time you've processed it your sample will have already decayed.

  • Whoa man that was dangerous!

Don't do that in the bathroom, its not safe.

  • GET A NEW CAMERA.

  • do even know how they get francium?

  • did you use a webcam to shoot this video?

  • check out potassium with water instead of red it turns purple its pretty cool

  • woow this is truly amazing

  • plssss more frames per second next time

  • Pity the picture quality is so bad

  • Cesium explodes when it comes to a contact with the humidity...

Because of that you must keep Cesium in vacuum... understand ?

  • @sanktmang42

But, because real vacuum can't be achieved, that isn't the way it's kept. In stead, it's kept in oil.

  • @EbiTron

yea you are right but the artificial vacuum enough that cesium dont explode :))

    (sry for my bad englisch)

  • argon atmosphere is used because argon is highly unreactive

  • do frankium please

  • its called francium but you cant. its impossible.

  • ive seen it done before but they had less than a gram of it so it only barely exploded

  • you cant get pure francium.

  • Learn your chemistry.. Francium can't be handled UNLESS you wanna get cancer .. lol and its very rare plus radioactive mate ,,

  • That's just what I said. Cesium is MUCH more reactive than that: I've seen it shoot flask pieces like a frag grenade

  • that cant be francium because francium would react with the water in the air

  • casium isn't radioactive if it's would be radioactive why it's in the chemierooms of my school? :D^^

  • Learn to speak and spell.

  • yes sry your rigt.

  • sure cäsium

    haha

    xD

    its radio active^^

no one would be so dumb and risks to be near to that thingy

  • Cesium is not radioactive. The only radioactive alkali metal is francium.

  • You are correct, however Cesium has many radioactive isotopes.

  • Every element in the periodic table has a whole bunch of radioactive isotopes. The reason you only find stable or very long-lived isotopes in nature is that all the other ones have decayed away.

  • Well his not talking about an isotope and of course it would have alot of radioactive isotopes.. it has a very high periodic number

  • more water and a better camera would be nice, if you could score some francium let me know..... I will pay big moneyzzzzzzzz for it!

  • you must keep cesium in vakum or it will be explosion

  • No u dnt r tard thats francium

  • 1st Francium is hard to extract thus YOU CANT GET IT.

2nd - Francium is RADIOACTIVE, AND CAN KILL U IF U GET In CLOSE CONTACT.

  • I didn't say pure francium

  • Theres one teaspoon of pure francium in the world "R TARD"

  • god shut the fuck up your wrong

  • no it won't !

  • @RandomDota

    yes it will !!

  • how so ?

  • Not a bad vid, would be nice if it were actually cesium, though. Judging by the reaction, it's either potassium or rubidium. I just find it to unlikely for someone to be able to afford cesium but not a new camera....

  • Shut the fuck up, that was cesium.

Stop being a fucking retard know-it-all

  • I know right... I hate people who like to act like that and they end up being asshole cowards...

  • I apologize, I must have been mistaken. I was probably thinking Francium instead. Still, there is no need to curse. And as for the coward bit, the only reason I didn't reply to these comments before now is because I typically don't really care what other people think. Now, I hope that has settled this argument. I don't mean to come across as a know-it-all, so I apologize if I did.

  • lmao nathan i agree with you. It wasnt cesium, cesium has bluish purple explosion, this one was red. Im not a know-it-all but these guys are just ignorant and retarded becuz they cant accept the fact that someone is smarter then them.

  • It is blueish purple, the camera just sucks...

  • No you were right the first time Cesium creates a much bigger reaction: this is deffinitly rubidium

opps need to work on my spelling ;)

  • Don't be rude, Dusk3030! And, it's annoying that people can't accept the fact that other people are smarter than them by calling them "know-it-alls". If those people can't accept other people for what they do, then they're just plain insecure. =I

  • but wouldn't one gram only be about 30$??

  • it was cesium.. rubidium is less reactive

  • true true.. but the reaction is very violent .. one which is very close of cesium on the periodic video ones .. potassium usually doesn't explode like that not like ones ive seen. THey usually explode with alot of gass produced.. but thats my idea lol but then again that much of cesium i guess your right lol.. cesium is VERY VERY EXPENSIVE!

  • great explosion, FUCKED UP CAMERA QUALITY

  • didnt daddy love u get a better video racorder (say in russain voice)

  • your half right firstdumass, cesium can be stored in noble gas atmospheres as well, but they have to be pure

  • WOW ALL of YOU Are Stupid

    this fake

Although cesium is a VERY reactive ELEMENT

there are a few places in the world that have The element Cesium (NOT COMPOUND)(RAW)

This guy just fucking put fire and like sugar

    (i dunno really)

Cesium is very reactive and needs to be stored in a VACUM, MIneral Oils and THATs IT

    Gr 11 chem

    thank you>.

  • You are stupid because you don't realise that your "mother", is a man.

    Second, THIS IS REAL

Check out his page on the description (you know what that is)

He got lots of cesium samples.

And you CAN buy cesium everywhere,

    Here's onesite: smart-elements

  • read the earliset comments!

  • Are you taking Engrish as one of your language classes? It sure seems like it.

  • Read the earlist comments DIPSHIT

  • rolf ur so dumb??? this isnt fake and DONT forget he used ONE gram only???? if it was 1gram of francium as title then id say its fake cuz 1gram would blow up the whole place.. dumbass im 14 and knw more than u.... ur dumb.

  • There's only 1 gram of francium that can be found on Earth. You're the idiot.

  • there is actually about 20-30 grams of it at one time on the earth

  • this is the first time ur seeing a cesium explosion

    so STFU

    BTW the older the wiser

AND Respect your god damn elders jezzz

  • Maan das gute Glaß^^

  • Just to everyone below me, you don't eat pure cesium for breakfast. It IS extremely reactive with water, just as several of the other elements in group one of the periodic table are, such as lithium, sodium, potassium and rubidium.

  • It is not fake,

Even though you eat this for breakfast, everyday, it is in form of a compound, and how many grams do you eat of it?

  • stop acting clever "cesium" is not a compound, i eat it in raw form. ermm i eat like 1 kg or so of pure cesium everyday.

and on a good day i eat francium too

    hahahha

  • fake

i eat this shit daily for breakfast and nothing happens

  • you eat daily shit for breakfast? LMFAO

  • no i eat your mum's genitals everyday bitch

  • what an amazing comeback...

1st, my mum doesnt have genitals, dumbass

    2nd:find some better combacks

  • hhhhhhhhhhahhahahahahaha your mum dont have genitals?? lololololol

how can you rate my comebacks when they were against you??

its a bit obvious your judgements are biased you doughnut

and it took you 2 weeks just to say that wow

your'e the one who needs "comebacks" let alone good ones ;)

  • what shit quality

  • Francium and fluorine are the most reactive bro

  • he probably meant the most reactive non-radioactive ones.

  • Wait, you got bored and decided to dump cesium in water while recording with a cell phone (looks like it, though I'm guessing). You are either RICH or must really love explosions XD

  • use an eyetoy camera please, its cheap, and has better video quality.

  • did u die

  • ok... recently i was at my grampas house where he has a box of old chemicals from the 30's and 40's and 50's, essentially when saftey wasnt an issue and as i opened this box for the first time(he just told me) i saw something that literally made my heart stop...It is an ampuole of a goldish metal which melts when i hold the ampuole in my hands, he says he got it from a lab that was closing, but has completley forgotten what it is... it weighs 72 grams...Could it be???

  • Mercury probably. Liquid at room temp, heay, metallic. Sounds about right

  • Probably Gallium.

  • Murcury! Nice man

  • Don't play with mercury, it's dangerous and poisonous :P

If you were thinking it was caesium don't get you're hopes up. Caesium can only be stored in a specialized argon atmosphere. Meaning you can't have held it without it reacting.

  • This is correct. It would react gradually with the air to form a layer of caesium oxide on its exterior. All alkali metals do the same at different rates.

  • i didnt take it out of the ampuole, and it isnt too heavy, but it has a definite gold colour, and melts in my hand, but when not hand-heated is solid

  • Question: Is Cesium legal in the United States?

  • Cesium is pretty much legal almost anywhere, except in a few countries for some reason. If Cesium wasn't legal then they wouldn't sell it in the popular United nuclear site.

  • Where in the hell did u get Cesium?

  • what would happen if you put some of this in your mouth? XD XD XD

  • bye bye mouth.

  • can i try it on u?XD

    i'll pay ya 50 cents

  • it will taist like rock candy, then fizzle min your mouth, try it

  • The taste of poisoning in the morning ^,^

  • what poisoning silaiva is water dude...

no poisoning neccesery when you havent got a head :D

  • This must be twue :O

  • crappy quality, but its a sick reaction

  • Guys, as a chemist lover, i know that Cesium is highly reactive with H2O. So, please, do NOT play with it. It is, in fact, a dangerous metal.

  • really... i just thought that it doesnt mean a fucking thing when you throw it into water and it EXPLODES. so you know what? ima get some cesium, and chuck it into a lake.

  • I was just trying to warn the idiots out there, like yourself, to not blow their arm off. But, my views have changed, you should get some cesium and swallow it, the world would be better off without you.

  • youre the idiot here, cause its kinda obvious that cesium is highly reactive in water... and air cause of the water vapor... but you seem to think that nobody else knows that after watching a video of it blowing up in water

  • Cesium is expensive, i doubt you can.

  • ya i now, isnt it like $100 per gram?

  • 30 dollars a gram buddy and they have a chemical compund around the cesium so it doesnt react with water vapor, but when put into water it dissolves and exposes the cesium to water

  • hmmm.... thats not that expensive.

  • It reacts with the air itself, not the water vapor in it. It oxidizes in air.

  • Oh... ya.... I kinda forgot there oxygen in air lol.

  • You guys are hopeless. Your warning people about getting there hands on Cesium ? It is unfortunate for anyone to obtain any at all unless they have lots of money to spend it on a store that might even have cesium, Cesium is pretty rare to experiment with as well.

  • cesium is only 30 dollars a gram AND very abundant so u kinda seem like an idiot right now

  • I am an idiot ? wait one moment, 30$ a gram ? are you insane, have you seen the prices go up very high lately on cesium in the stock market ? I don't think you have, you are still behind time, look at the market stock on cesium, you will be surprised.

  • :P SHIT

  • wth hw u get your hands on Cesium

  • with a lot of money and a license (to chill).

  • what do you need to do this like hot water and cesium or something?

  • just water and cesium

  • Cesium is a highly reactive metal. It will react strongly with hydrogen (seen with the dihydrogen monoxide here).

  • dihydrogen monoxide? Cute. And redundant.

  • I'm just trying to sound smarter than I am. :)

  • lol Don't we all? :) But you are smart, so don't worry.

  • awesome 5/5

  • where did u buy the cesium?

  • How did you get hold of the caesium???

  • Where did you get the cesium from?

  • haha how did that container not shatter

  • Made of plastic ;)

I started using plastic containers after a cesium explosion that was close you threw alot of glas into my face :P

  • so could you make cesium ion batteries???

  • Cesium does not diffuse into the solid electrolytes like lithium does, so no.

  • could you use really acidic or basic electrolyes to cause diffusion??

  • it doesnt break! legend!

  • loooooooooooooooooooooooool

  • there are only a few grams of that stuff on the world. how the hell did you get any?
