@jpinard You can cluster them - we've been calling such a cluster a Bramble. Lots more on our website - if you've got a question, I can almost guarantee it's answered there somewhere.
@raspberrypiliz I doubt Jason Statham is able to cater for a wedding for 50 people in under 2 minutes, but okay - lets just say all three look alike :D
@TheUnhivedTRUTH Is there Opera for ARM? Anyway, it's proprietary browser with no source available. The primary objective is not nettop, it has barely enough memory. Keep in mind you can't have multiple tabs of rich feature websites in 256 MB of RAM (which includes the system and video RAM).
Give it a Gigabit Ethernet Adapter. Last time I checked 10/100 NICs cost just as much as 1Gbit cards so this shouldn't increase productions costs dramatically, or am i wrong?
Would love to try out Arch Linux ARM for the first time with one of these.
@tjpld You are wrong. The ethernet is provided over the single USB interface that the SoC has (480mbps), with an Ethernet + 2USB hub chip. There wouldn't be bandwidth for gigabit ethernet, and a cheap NIC would use too much CPU power anyway.
If it was an different SoC, then maybe. I admire them for sticking to the original price point.
If you want something more, take a look at GuruPlug, PandaBoard, and other devices. But they are quite a bit more expensive.
@tjpld Yes, it's completely different. The board has one chip to save cost (and also space) which has USB hub and ethernet MAC + PHY all it one package. Other thing is, there is very little need to faster ethernet for the education target they're aiming for.
You my man are fantastic. I'm starting University in about 2 weeks and am going for computer science, I dream of being a programmer. I sadly have no experience as of yet programming, But I will for sure get a few of these (both models) to tinker with and have fun with while I learn. I just wanted to let you know, How great I think your project is, I support your cause full front and just wanted to say properly ... Thank you!
Make sure to verify all bids. I suspect there will be a lot of people placing fake bids for large amounts of money as news of the auctions spreads across the internet.
@raspberrypiliz I have a 16gb sd card reserved for my raspberry pi, can you upload the SD card image, so I can prepare my sd card for when the pi comes out?
@bobdotexe Not yet - we have legals to thrash through first (which is why they're not included in this auction - the auction winners will get a pre-release distro), but they'll be ready on our website when we launch.

If we purchased 10 boards, would there be a way to run them in parallel? Either via internal network or physical wiring?
