of all the musicians of the past 20 years (if ever), is there anyone whose message NEEDS to be heard more than Micheal Franti's? It is saddening that he is not really well known, while half the country tunes into American Idol.

Can't wait to see him next month in Portsmouth.

Thanks for the comment jg141. It's strange that MF isn't better known in the US. In Australia (my home country) he is HUGE! A bit like Ben Harper 10 years ago when no one knew him in America, yet he was already a massive act in Australia, the UK, NZ and France. It seems to take Americans a little longer to recognize what they've got - perhaps a fault of the pop industry here - rarely pushing new artists...
