Okie-dokie, I gotta check out all these submissions. I feel so rotten that I didn't get my video done in time, but oh well. I was just so busy and I finally gave up. Still, I'm looking forward to voting. This will be fun!
Voting will open at midnight tonight (Eastern time), at which point the directions will be posted in the info at right. Thanks for remembering the date!
Please only post one. If you feel that your second video is better than the one you've already posted, you may let me know, in which case I can tell you in a message exactly what to do.
It's all right. I found the music online and I just played it as the music played, so it's the same effect. I recommend telling your viewers to do the same, or look for cover versions of the song. I believe Kerry Ellis did rock versions of some Wicked songs and stage-star com has a version of it. Maybe those ones would evade the copy-right.
Best of luck to you. And, if it's any consolation, I don't think the audio you put up is that crappy. It's better than nothing anyway.
Also, I've noticed that dementedsinger16 and Alonza0 have been doing something different - they put up links to audios in info if their videos are taken down. That would also work if you vidders are having trouble.
If I submit a video, then make a better one, can I switch them? I just have a million show tunes idea right now, and I don't want to have to wait until there all finished before deciding which one to upload for this contest.
Yes, that would be fine. Just message me when you do switch them so that I can figure out how to take the video you don't want off of the response list.
Yes, that would be fine. I'm pretty sure it's been on stage at one point or another. Or, if you'd like, you can save it for the movie soundtrack challenge, as it would technically fit both - your choice.
when we're done with the video do we post it as a video respose to this one?? if not where does it go! ive never done a competition before, sorry, so i dont know this stuff :/
That's fine, it's natural that you wouldn't know. Yes, you post your video as a response to this one whenever you've finished it. That way everyone who wants to vote in the contest can easily find your entry.
All in all, yes the music should be from a Broadway musical. Any stage musical will do, but most of them have been on Broadway, so you should be fine. Like I've said, nothing like Aladdin that that hasn't been on stage. Make sense?
Post it as a video comment. When you go to this page and watch this video, if you scroll down to where you would type a comment, right above the Audio Preview button is a link that says Post a Video Response. If you need any help, message me.
Since it's the first video contest and I probably wasn't as clear as I should have been, you may use it. But I really would not like anyone else to use movie soundtracks.
To tell the truth, we will probably be doing movie soundtracks as a later theme, which is why we'd prefer you not use them for this particular contest. So you may either submit your Lion King video now or save it for that contest. Your choice.
Oh wow! Coolness... sounds like a great plan. Cheers me up a little after the mini-tragedy of my everybody dance now vid getting disabled. Bah. Have to just keep pumping more stuff out.
So... when you say movie musicals don't count... could we still use soundtracks from movie musicals that are BASED on actual stage versions? Like, same music and everything, really, just... in a movie... would that work?
Yes, right, forgot to mention that. Yes, you could use soundtracks of movies, as they are adaptations of stage shows. For example, if you want to use the soundtrack of the movie Rent, by all means, go right ahead. But I don't want to see any videos set to Camp Rock or Oliver and Company just because there's singing. Not that there's anything wrong with those particular movies...
What a cool idea! This is so great guys, I'm going to have to come up with something. (Which shouldn't be hard with over 500 show tunes on my IPod O_o)
Are the results up yet?

My vid is a little bit shorter than 2:00 minutes
Is that okay?
ktCATSbone 3 years ago
Well how much under 2:00 is it? Why don't you post it as a response and I'll take a look at it.
CatsFanVidListing 3 years ago
all right
ktCATSbone 3 years ago
I'll put it up this time, but in the future I won't be doing that. But since it's the first contest and all, I'll approve it.

The same happened to me :(
I had to find a really crap version of the audio that was on youtube already, so they can't get mad at me right? Right?
*knocks on wood* I hope it works.

This should be a challenge. I have a couple of ideas though.

I was planning to do Footloose, my dad said its been on stage but I'm not sure. Would that be okay?

can i use one of the tarzan songs? even though the movie came first?
CatDancerGirl 3 years ago
Yes, that would be fine. We would prefer though, that you used the Broadway soundtrack.
CatsFanVidListing 3 years ago
sadly, i don't have that. all i have is the version we got when we saw it in disney world. so it's a stage version...
CatDancerGirl 3 years ago
All right, that's completely okay. Just so long as it's not the original movie soundtrack, it's acceptable.
CatsFanVidListing 3 years ago
Not the original movie soundtrack?
Crap . . .
My entry's finished (I used Lion king) , I guess I'll start over
ktCATSbone 3 years ago
Could I please use it?
ktCATSbone 3 years ago
I'll post it as a response and you can see what you think, maybe?
