Having witnessed columbine while i was in highschool half a country a way, I always heard that they wanted to round marylin manson up because of his supposed occultic lyrics. THat lasted longer than the movements against violent gaming. it still lasts to this day louder than the anti gaming sentiment
Bullshit, violence is in the human nature, deal with it. You could say the same thing about the previous generation and violent/action movies, before the previous generation you could blame the wars every so many years for violence.
I don't like these type of documentaries, this is one of the reasons I stopped watching Discovery Channel. They don't mention the safe guards like ratings&c (1) The game was bought by a adult, unless it was stolen,(2) the weapons were available. Like drunken driving there are many checks that could&should be reached before these type of things occur. If the person is underage or not find out how they got something they weren't supposed to be able to get,& do something they shouldn't have done.
Fact from recent research: most people (80%+) that play online games don't become unsocial and closed off from the outside world but started to play it because they had no social life or were closed off from outside. (it's not standard, there are always exceptions ^^ that'll be human nature.)
This was quit intresting to see, part two would have explained the above fact :)
These people are way off . Most gamers , like 99% dont pay intention to the violens at all , its the competition that draws gamers to games not the violens . Like in any other sport , you want to win , so you play to get better and win ! simple ass that ....
very interesting series, thanks for posting these vids. It is pretty amazing how far games have come in just a decade. I can only imagine what they will be like in another.
I saw this recently on T.V and while I'm not much of a fan for 1st person shooters I could understand why it's made a huge impact on the world, both positively and negatively.
Video games: scapegoat designed for politicians to use on people with no knowledge or experience of video games.
