@cliffthelightning How is it better than the B-1? The Tu-160 only carries up to 12 cruise missiles. The Tu-160 only has 2 bomb bays while the B-1 has 3. The B-1 carries a much greater payload. The Tu-160 may have a slightly better range & fly a bit faster, but it's lack of payload is unacceptable.

@ubrbzkr not really the russians came with the tu-22 which flew a few years ealier than the b-1. the tu-160 is a developed tu-22, you can still see the similarities.

The two are not even in the same class. F-111 is comparable to Su-24. Tu-22M/M3 are maritime strike aircraft. Tu-22M3 carries 47,000lbs payload, F-111 only comes in at 30,000.

@bittemeinrammstein The most the F-111 could do (the F model being the latest) was a 12,000lb load with 4 MAU-12 wing pivot-pylons with BRU-3A mounted under them. Each BRU-3A could hold 6 500lb Mk-82 weapons of various configs. So that's 4 BRU's with 6 bombs at 500lbs each. That's 12,000lbs. I know this, as I was a Weapons Systems Specialist for years on the D and F models. All this does not include the weapons bay, as it wasn't used for many years before all of the USAF inventory in 1994.

All Soviet bombers got a codename beginning with "B". Helicopters got "H", fighters "F", ballistic missiles "S", and so on.

The Blinder was originally named "Beauty" but was changed because the USAF thought this was too complimentary.

backfire, cause after attacking, it can return on the Base in Russia. 7000 km.. to blow up bombs on the territory of usa. Else, it has powerful guns in the tail. AND behind the plane nozzles warm air up to 900 C. it is very hot. every plane, that will be behind tu-22 - will be burnt
