  • 6 dislikes?? seriously?? 6??

  • Holy Fuck Balls what a classic... I watch this fight at least once a week and still get chills... just like when I watch round 9 of Ward v Gatti

  • ippo vs mashiba hahahahahah

  • la grande classe respect a sais 2 grand champion

  • impresionante, al palo por palo, al golpe por golpe, dos monstruos de la categoria welter

  • This is what boxing should be

  • poprostu utworek mistrzostwo świata

  • greatest first round i have ever seen. i remember being in a crowded bar back in '85, and when this fight came on live, everybody's eyes was glued to that big tv screen up in the corner of the room. that first round was an unbelievable exchange. it was boxing history in the making.

  • Hagler never showed much respect for Hearns!

  • waouuu this is the legend Marvin

  • .........WHEN BOXING WAS A GREAT SPORT

  • HoW COULD ANYONE NOT LIKE THIS

  • lesson...

  • The definition of a brawl.

  • ke rocky ni ke undefined, this is real!!

  • brutal!

  • one of the best fight ever

  • If only Tommy would have boxed him..tommy would have won that fight easily.

  • Best round all time. Two all time greats

  • its easily one of the greatest fights, id put the final meeting of lamotta and robinson, castillo v corrales 1 in front of it though.

  • has anybody else watched this fight like 100000 times or just me

  • Best 1st round in boxing history

  • UFC has rounds like this every show.

  • @tonyvalente No it doesn't.Maybe with C level fighters.

  • @tonyvalente fuck you bitch the brawls in ufc are of fucking bums who dont know how to swing punches, I bet the first fight you will say was a brawl was "jung vs garcia", garcia is a fucking bum who swings punches like hes throwing a fast ball, Hagler and Hearns are masters at throwing punches and had the most skillful brawl in fighting history. UFC fighters are just fucking wild

  • @burkey218 this proves my point. your fake profile and empty life living in the past watching some old shit that is boring. Even Mike Tyson said MMA is more exciting. Your master boxers got tired and Hearns cant keep his hands up and chicken legs stumbling all over the place. try living n 2012. time moves on loser.

  • @tonyvalente ufc brawlers have no fucking skill throwing there hands, and the rest of them just take people down and hump them on the ground like gsp and jon fitch.

  • @tonyvalente yeah with no skilled graphlers...lol

Boxing is a sweet science dude.

  • @tom11zz884 you spell like hearns, brain dead loser. your mom is on red tube in the granny section.

  • @tonyvalente UFC or MMA whatever you want to call the shit sucks...so STFU and go somewhere moron...lol

  • without a doubt the best first round ever .

  • The true sport of boxing doesn't exist any longer. For well over a century, the combinations of (1) corruption, (2) fixings, and (3) marketing giants like Don King and Bob Arum (please refer to 1, 2 and 3) had been the norm. The advent of Mixed Martial Arts and various other federations have doomed boxing forever. The fact that the most anticipated boxing fight in the last two years has been Floyd Mayweather, Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao, and they don't want to fight each other. Boxing's history...

  • The greatest first round in boxing history...

  • true warriors....best 1st rd i ever saw

  • Holy shit these guys can fight.

  • I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS FIGHT, THIS IS WHAT BOXING IS ALL ABOUT. IF THESE 2 MEN WERE IN THERE PRIME AND FIGHTING TODAY , THEY WOULD DESTROY MOST OF THESE FIGHTERS. WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE SEEN A HAGLER VS HOPKINS OR A HEARNS VS SUGAR SHANE FIGHTS.

  • This is perhaps the wildest round in boxing history. I think Hearns never hurt Hagler.

  • Clinching should be illegal. People should be imprisoned for clinching, not for causing brain damage.

  • Amazing fight.

  • hearns broke his hand in the first round

  • This was NOT the fight that people said it was. It was over after 1:30 of the first round.

After Hearns initially staggered Hagler and couldn't finish him, it was simply a matter of Hagler chopping down a tree.

Hagler NEVER took one step backwards.

  • Hagler's chin was so solid, Hearns fractured his right hand in the first 15 seconds.

  • Hagler must have the best chin boxing has ever seen. If not, this might have been a fight lasting about 17 seconds..with Hearns the champ!!!

  • Hagler is a beast. God the 1980s was a golden era for boxing!

  • P.S. Hearns had a mallet for a right hand and in all the fights of his career this is the one where he unloaded it with the most fury. And yet the force in the other corner walked through it as if it wasn't there and put the Hit Man down. If Mike Tyson in his prime, got hit with these same shots that Hearns unloaded and Hagler took to get close enough, Tyson would have yielded. Ali would have yielded. Maybe Smokin Joe would have pressed to stand, but not been able to turn it in his favor.

  • @ditkoasmpages The brutality of the Hearns right hand can be seen here. He Hagler with a right which actually hurt the guy, a primed george foreman, sunny liston, mike tyson, jack dempsey wouldn't be able to hurt the guy. Lol! The guy was a fucking building with legs.

  • It doesn't matter what era as you don't know what an era apparently is. The earth is 4,500,000,000 year old. Talking about the difference between boxers 20-25 years in negligible with regards to time. The point is Hagler has and will always be the greatest fighter, period. He was a warrior.

  • Hagler beats anyone. End of.

  • The point is if Maywether could deal with this guys or any boxer with real skills. Pacquiao has nothing to prove he's already an all time Great.

  • @foreverland100 Floyd is an atg as well. If you don't think he is then you know nothing about boxing.

  • @TheRexrapper Well, maybe I don't know nothing about boxing.

  • @foreverland100 No disrespect but its not a maybe, you don't know anything about boxing if you think Floyd isn't an atg. I bet you can't give factual evidence to prove that he isn't one. What is your basis for your assumption?

  • best first round ever!!!

  • Hagler would kick the living sh*t out of anyone today at 154-160, wouldnt even be remotely competitive.

  • hagler ate nails for breakfast!

  • wow look at the way heanrs walked up to marvin..he meant business! hearns wouldv beaten pac n floyd with ease cos of his lenght speed n abnormal power..he was just a freak of nature

  • They should take out the deslike button in this vid

  • i beat up Hitman Hearns son in elementary school

  • I have the luck to libe in Milan, Italy, where Marvin Hagler is living since many years now, and i got the luck to know him and see him training, he deserve the glory and honour to in the hall of fame of the best fighters of all time. A champion in the ring and out of the ring, respect.

    Sorry for the bad english

  • Thanks for posting such good quality video!!

  • how was this round scored? jesus

  • @baserocks206 I'd have scored it 10-10, but on the night judge Harry Gibbs scored it 10-9 Hagler, judge scored it 10-9 Hagler and judge Dick Young scored it 10-9 Hearns.

  • @Nayson thanks

  • @fairalways I still remember those days when Saturday afternoon activities had to be put on hold so I could watch "Wide World of Sports"!!!

  • Remember when "The Wide World of Sports" came on, and you knew you were in for something good?

  • One word - Epic.

  • hagler is the greatest middleweight ever. he had an iron chin.

  • @illyrian4life Yep, and in a fight like this, it came down to who had the better chin.

  • I watched this video many times. No one today could hang with either of these two guys very long. That right Tommy hit Marvin with @0:17 would have easily knocked most guys out, just shows how tough Marvin was.

  • there was more action in this one rd than most fights have in ten...marvin hagler, a true warrior and hats off to tommy hearns as well, they both left it all in ring...THE WAR!

  • These two were part of the classic fighters. For some reason, I cannot get into boxing as much anymore; maybe because they added so many weight divisions, it seems to be all over the place, but back in these days, I could name most of the fighters and their divisions. Classic bouts took place on World Wide of Sports, than came pay per view which to me started the downfall of this sport, but overall still watchable until the 90's. I haven't watched a fight since than. Thanks for the memories.

  • @P90X490104 Yea, good comments, I'm with ya man. Boxing today is nothing like it used to be. At least thanks to YouTube I can still watch some of the great fights and great fighters from the 80's and 90's.

  • @VinceNphilly I concur with you. In fact, I can honestly say that the last fights I bothered to watch was the Holyfield / Tyson series because following the career of both these fighters, I always said that despite the tenacious stalking and brawling aspects of Tyson, a brawler could be beat by a master (boxer) technician which I felt Holyfield was plus Holyfield was not easily intimidated by Tyson like other fighters. Yes, I can say that was the last of the greatest fights I witnessed.

  • Great fight, those retards at Sherdog were talking about this recently.

  • This wasn't a boxing match. This was a straight out fight!!! Best round of boxing EVER!

  • hearns don't get enough credit out of these fighters, just cause his skull wasn't ab normally thick like haglers don't he don't have as much heart, he broke his hand in the 2nd round but told manny not to say anything after the fight cause he didn't want take anything away from hagler, now thats a champ

  • whys every one gotta bash pac and floyd? just enjoy the fight

  • i agree that neither pacquiao or floyd had a chance with them. but they are both 126 pound fighters making it to welter. later on hearns won the lightheavyweight title. hagler the middleweight. they can't be compared fairly

  • What a chin Hagler had!

  • lol the first round of Mayweather Pacquiao would never be 5% as exciting as this.

  • Hearns and Hagler would make Manny puke before getting in the ring with either one of them...and let's add on Duran and Leonard as well....Manny would stay in the fuckin restroom and say his tummy hurts before fighting those warriors man...."I'm staying right here on the toliet...let 'em know man fuck that, I'm sick"!!!

  • Al Bernstein was such a goofy bitch...

  • I find it incredible that there are people who dislike this video.

  • @zenqimaster Could only be for the extreme amount of violence LOL.

  • uhhhh .....did either of these greats demand a drug test (outside of the commission's regulations) from each other before the fight? If no, then I wonder why ?

  • The only fighter to ever hurt Hagler. Hagler attacked & backed off real quick. It would not have changed the outcome, but too bad Hearns broke his right in 1st. Very few fighters would have survived the onslaught from Hearns in that 1st round, come to think not a lot of fighters would have survived the onslaught of Hagler in that 1st round either. He landed some bombs on Hearns and Hearns came right back. What these two men gave us 4 8 minutes will never be topped, don't let lampley fool u.

  • @sinusbradycardia maybe Mugabi hurt Hagler I'm not sure. Never to the effect that Hearns did.

  • Sta sve izdogadjalo u prvoj rundi, pa ovo nije normalno... Ovaj mec sam 100 puta odgledao, i uvek kada ga vidim ponovo se odusevim. Stvarno neverovatno.

  • Man, I miss these fights. Those were days when boxing ruled to world. I still love the sweet science and watch it every chance I get.

  • brilliant boxing........ out and out war this is what us boxing fans need

  • Best round ever, best fight ever!

  • Hagler was brilliant!

I loved his fights! Real 'edge of the seat stuff' !

  • Ok now this was the greatest fight I've ever seen. These 2 guys were true warriors in every sense of the word. Thanks for posting.

  • Hagler had a better chin, which made the difference in this fight because they both were nailing each other with knockout punches.

  • best single round in the documented history of boxing? for my money it is

  • omg this first round is more funny than Klitschkos Hays whole 12 rounds yesterday.

  • this and Ward vs Gatti (first fight) round 9 are the joint greatest rounds ever in my opinion

  • greatest round ever.

  • I thought Marciano trained a lot, 10 miles a day. But then Hagler came and ran 15 a day!

  • @carmodifire yer marciano trained very hard, how do you kno hagler ran 15 miles a day? not syaing your wrong just where did you hear that? andhagler was in serious shape for this fight as was hearns

  • @kingdaleclarke I read it somewhere. Maybe it's not true. But I know that he ran around 8 miles a day.

  • The stare they give each other at the end of the round gives me chills, they both wanted to kill each other right there, they'd have done the 3 rounds back to back to back if they'd have let them. Amazing fighters. Best round of all time.

  • Agreed

  • best first round of all times agreed?

  • To all of you comparing Hagler and Hearns to Pacquiao: You guys are fucking retards. You can't compare two completely different eras with completely different fight styles. WTF? Do you honestly think if Hagler or Hearns were born in the year Pacquiao was born they would fight this way? Or if Pacquiao was born in their era he would fight how he does? You can't. Boxing evolves infinitely. That's why the greatest of all time list will ALWAYS be controversial. Let's see boxing 50 years from now.

  • @MrCmurda526 Yes they would use those styles. RJJ used the style that Hearns popularized, much later.

  • haha the crowd was standing up from the beginning

  • Hearns was a welter weight orginally not a big middle weight,,he would have crush Pac man as a welterweight

  • @Icolby11...they are middleweight boxers not welterweight. Still MP is a great boxer today just like them during their era. I think you just don't like MP...so be it!

  • Great fight. I sure miss the days when boxing was relevant.

  • Jesus one of the greatest round ever, Hearn's breaking his hand on Haggler's head in that round!!

  • @totahstreetjhon

Dude, calling Marvelous Marvin a crackhead?? Why?

And why are you framing your hypothetical what if with Hearns or Hagler dropping down to fight Pac-man? What if Packi in this hypothetical scenario had to bulk up to compete Middleweight?

  • Comment removed

  • who hits harder? hagler?

  • @theog67 Hearns, everyone says so; Hearns power was what made him so good at ko's. He ko's duran in the beginning of the 2nd round, Hagler managed to win a decision.

  • @carmodifire thanks

  • hearns definitely had the first part of this round, if only by a bit, but hagler just barreled in to him in the last part of it. hearns still got in some nice punches even while being hammered on.

  • Hagler....probably the greatest middleweight of the last 30 years...just look at his record AND his style. This is the ONLY fight I've ever seen him get hurt in.

  • @totahstreetjhon No, hearns started at welterweight, and was considered his p4p best there. Hearns power and hand speed would be too much for manny, as well as his reach. Think duran-hearns.

  • What a round. What...A...Round...

  • they don t make them like this anymore

  • Best round of boxing i have ever seen and ever likely to see, it was just incredible to see 2 great fighters goin for the knockout from the opening bell

  • @donzie975 Watch Ron Lyle vs George Foreman 1976. Not as fast paced they're MUCH bigger guys but if you want to see guys looking to punch each other out (and succeeding multiple times) it's a classic fight.

  • @Gossage54 I just watched that fight there for the first time not knowing who had won it and u were right it was a great fight, one of the best heavyweight fights i've seen. Round 4 especially was just unbelievable and it could have gone either way that fight, thanks mate

  • @donzie975 Hey glad you enjoyed it, it's an underrated slugfest classic. I came across it in the mid 90s on Classic Sports Network when they used to play a lot of cool stuff before ESPN took them over. I had never seen it or even heard about it, real riveting fight because the like you I didn't know who won and it was either guy's fight. You don't often see big George hit the canvas that many times!

  • Pac man would end up like Pipino Cuevas if he fought Hearns,,he would not be able to hit Hearns and Hearns hits like a HEAVY WEIGHT,,,Hearns would KO him in 3 rounnds,,Pac man has no defense and he lounges foward with a lot of his combos

  • what a FUCKING fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hagler>Pacquaio

  • YOU THINK PACQIOUA COULD DEAL WITH THESE GUYS? NOOOO

  • @lcolby11 who, manny "steroids" pacqiaou? sure he can!!

  • @lcolby11 ..... PacMan may be able to go a few rounds with Hearns. Perhaps catch hearns in the later rounds as Hearns was prone to get rubbery. But Hagler would walk right into Pacman's shit and mow him down. Pacman is succeptible to the blind left hook (a hook over the top of the jab "or straight right in Pacman's case" when moving to his right. if you watch his fights, he get's hit with that shot more often than anything else...and you can tell that it stuns him)

  • @lcolby11 you want pacquiao a small welterweight to fight these massive middleweights?

  • @lcolby11 I hear you dude. See these were fights back then. Not this water downed crap we see now. That was the greatest round of boxing I've ever seen. Two dudes going at it like there lives depended on it. Pac-Man is a great fighter but he would get destroyed by both Hagler and Hearns in there prime.

  • @lcolby11 Mayweather won't be able to either.

  • @lcolby11 These guys are too big fot Pacquio so its not a fair comparison. Mayweather wouldve gotten killed by both these guys also.

  • @lcolby11 You're right because Pacquiao is Small Welterweight while these 2 were Middlieweight.

  • @clixnoj Hearns was a welter weight when he started

  • @lcolby11 Of course not! These guy were 160lbs. Dope.

  • Respond to this video... Roy Jones on the other hand...

  • @lcolby11 hahaha manny is gr8 but he would have a difficult time with these amazing p4p warriors. lol lets see a fucking mma fighter fight one of these guys lol No chance in hell

  • @lcolby11 YOU THINK FLOYD COULD DEAL WITH THESE GUYS? NOOOO

  • @fairalways damn floyd still on your mind i forgot all about him on this video hmmmm

  • @youngtap1000 "Still"? I just watched this. I've never commented on it before. Figures.

  • @lcolby11 did u see their foot work the whole fight the game evolved...yessss

  • Any idea when Hearns hurt his hand? I know it was in this round.

  • @BruceinFalkirk

I believe it was the 1st round.

Duran had also broken his right hand against Hagler in the 5th round of their 1983 fight. Hearns had problems with his right hand most of his career. A similar situation happened to Hearns against Benetiz in their 1982 fight and Hearns was able to compensate with his boxing skills and win the decision. Against Hagler it was a much tougher situation.

  • @77777johnnybravo

I know it was in the 1st round but don't knw when. I did know that Duran hurt his hand on the same head. Hearns had no chance once his hand went in this fight, especially as he had started a brawl with Hagler. If the fight had been a chess match, he might have gotten away with it but this was a real needle match, at the time.

  • 26 years ago today! what a round!!

  • what a fight!!

  • EPIC.......

  • Everybody thought Hearns would win by decision lol, but that 1 round was like 15 rounds of punishment for both fighters and resulted in Hearns being ko'ed in round 3.

  • how the fxxk do you score that first round? that was intense folks!

  • who won the fight though? (my guess would be Hearns by decision)

  • @killerbiller35 Hagler by KO

  • Nice, clear picture. Much better than some others here on YT.

  • @pnutbutrncrackers Thanks.

  • Amazing! The golden era of boxing.

  • Not looking for any beef dude. Just telling it like it was. Cosell interviewed both fighters and Shavers looked at Norton and said you've been ducking me for 7 years. I've seen fighters at center ring hundreds of times. Norton had a defeated look, he was a loser before the bell sounded for round one. Norton was a good fighter, just not in the class as the best, like Ali, Holmes, Foreman, Liston, and I'm leaving a few others out. Everyone has his opinion, I respect yours also.

  • @VinceNphilly

Shavers arguably was the hardest puncher back then &certainly 1 of the biggest shit talkers(even in loses).

Staying away from that big rite hand, ware him down to take him out was no big mystery for boxers.

Norton's record was 41-5 when they fought; a "bum" that does not make.

Granted Norton was never that good w/ big punchers; had he stayed on his bicycle & the game plan against Shaver he would of won.

Ali & company puts Norton in their class,so who's to say different?

    1love

    X

  • @farronx BTW..Nortons record was 42-7. Stats by BoxRec. Shavers was 75-14 w/an astounding 69 KO's. Based on that record not too many used the tactic you described to beat him and Norton could never beat him no matter what strategy he tried.

  • @VinceNphilly

recheck your stats son 41-5 was Ken's record

Ernie was always knocking out unheralded opponents, but he couldn't stop an over-the-hill Ali or, after delivering a shot that would've brought down an elephant, Larry Holmes.

It's true that he beat Norton, but Ken was a shell of his former self. Shavers also couldn't finish Ron Lyle after knocking him down. This is the same Lyle that got ko'd by a I-still-don't-have-my-head-screwed-on-straight-after-losing-to-Ali, Foreman.

    CYA

    1love

    X

  • @farronx Sorry to inform you again...but check your stats son. Norton was 42-7. Do you have a computer? Check it out because your memory is not working for you. Also, Norton was 35 and Shavers 33 when they fought, not much difference. If you want to pick ONE fight to downplay Shavers, I can do the same for that bum Norton. He got KO's by Jose Luis Garcia and Norton was in his prime. Garcia, hahaha!! Shaver was 75-14 and four of those loses was after he was 37 yrs old. (cont'd)

  • @VinceNphilly

Don't be a lil boy giving me your internet stats on something I watched & lived thru.

41-5 or 42-7 is a winning record in any sport so if U need to be correct there have @ it,it's all silly semantic.

I would never "downplay" my brother Shavers I'm speaking the facts; no need for me to repeat em.

But I'll repeat this If "ALI,Frazier,Holmes,Foreman put Norton in their class minus Shavers who are U to say different?"

U agree Ali is the greatest so show respect to his words.

    1love

    X

  • @farronx Grow up dude. I watched and lived thru it also. You can have the last word, I'm sure you will. I'll end my convo with this. Ali was the greatest and Norton was a bum. Amen. Have a good day.

  • @VinceNphilly

"when we were kings" go fetch it & watch it son.

you'll see Ali,Norton,Foreman,Smokn Joe,Holmes & a few others candidly summing each other up in their own words. guess who you won't see?

guys famous for knocking out bums like Shavers was. I'm not trying to sell a fool what I already know..

save your "Amen's" for your useless god & go kick rocks son or listen to the words of kings.

(Kings that have been teaching you idiots (respect) for far too long now)

    1love

    X

  • @farronx haha...your a joke sucka. If you knew ANYTHING about boxing I'd argue with you forever but you are not well versed about the boxing world. You continue to avoid what happened when Shavers and Norton met SON.

The better fighter won. I've seen "when we were kings". Sluggers/fighters like Foreman and Smokin Joe were good, but only good. The elite were BOXERS like Ali, Holmes and The Brown Bomber. So son, freshen up on your boxing before you try to convince me that you know anything.

  • @VinceNphilly

"sucka" hmmm, mighty classless of U;go figure.

Ur clueless;your name says it all. Philly fans have a statue of Rocky that U praise when a real living champ in Joe Frazier is living there & who deserves those accolades. what could U possibly know about boxing? The most classless, dumb fans in all sports live in philly.

I'm not a fan of repeating myself so if U need my take(again) on when "Shavers and Norton met",go reread it?

Ali is all you've been correct on so beat it.
