  • LOL!! .. He's from Dyson? What is he 17 years old? Look at that Douchey popped collar. Ridiculous. Anyway, un-pausing the video from that rugged distraction.

  • Looks like it shuts off 3 inches from the tip off your fingers. So you still stuck with wet fingers and still need paper towels lol

  • This kinda makes me reconsider buying magazines from you.

I've seen smarter disabled children than you

  • I don't get it, were other high-powered hand dryers not effective enough? Is this really technology that needs revolutionizing?

  • @PristineSneakers Try it and you'll understand.

  • Have used the Airblade many times. It's putrid. I've never been able to use it without my (small) hands touching some part of the top area. And the other person I saw use it was cursing it because her hands touched it too. They need to make the spacing about 3 cm more at least.

  • HAMISH AND ANDY!!

  • What a stupid test. Did you major in marketing? Also you touched the dirty-ass surface of the dryer. Time to wash your hands again and retry.

  • haha this prick is so fuckin funny

  • @achzdck next time i see one and im the only one in a bathroom i promise you im gonna try it

  • I absolutely hate this dryer. If you're not getting water drops shooting up towards your face you're playing "don't touch the sides" like the game "operation" for fear of the germs the many people have left from touching it before you. Dryers that point down are much better for hygeine and use (what if it's raining out and you want to dry your backpack, pants, shoe a bit?).

  • @FenrirLupus Not everyone uses soap, sadly; not everyone cleans thoroughly enough. You got it right when you say they're "assuming".

  • Okay, so it was designed with a "sanitary" flow of air in mind, but what about when your hands rub up against the plastic surface that a hundred other chaps have also touched...

  • @apologiate07 i used one this weekend here in vancouver and that actually happened. the plastic on the top was sticky and stained as if people had spilled drinks on it (this was at a bar). not to mention its A LOT smaller than you would think. My fingers touched the bottom when my hand was in about and inch over my wrists

  • i used one of these in the cinema toilets at butlins skegness last year and was very impressed, my hands felt fresh and dry rather than burnt and stale

  • That's power; right there.

  • I used one of these in an airport. It worked very well.

  • It takes a gay lazy man to invent something like this..

  • James Dyson invented it , he is not the sort of person you are describeing.

  • James Dyson is gay and lazy, what're you talking about? Well maybe not lazy, but he's gay.

  • Or some one far smarter than your self!

  • Encountered one of these at a theater in NYC. Almost impossible to not touch it as you put your hands in. That's gross. Fatal flaw, IMHO.

  • the dryer is made out of a polycarbonate material that has antimicrobial properties...thus also making the actual body of the dryer hygienic, so it doesn't matter if you touch it, stuff cannot grow on it

  • So if some guy gets a little poop on his hand, doesn't wash very well, then gets the poop on the dryer, the antimicrobial properties of the polycarbonate will instantly destroy all the bacteria in the poop? Of course not. This thing is gross.

  • you've got fat hands?

  • Better than having that poop on the handle of a standard paper dispensing unit.

Secondly, you're not going to touch this dryer with your own hands - if you're smart, at least, so no worries about germs at all.

  • there would still be more bacteria in the air after flushing than you'd have to worry about when touching the dryer.

  • You must have fat hands, mine fit in perfectly with out touching

  • Or shaky hands, or big hands, or I'm drunk, or I'm old, or I'm a kid who can't reach, or whatever. Doesn't matter. Bottom line is that it's very difficult to put your hands in there without touching it and that's gross. Period. This Dyson guy is a quack. His vacuum cleaners are grotesquely overpriced. This thing is just poor design.

  • OMG! First day back to school today. They had these in the newly refurbished toilets, along with Dove Hand Soap. Made my day? Of course!

  • Man, I was just at an AMC theater with these, and I can really say, I like them! Yes, they are very loud, but They didn't make it to be super quite, they made it to dry hands quickly, because traditional dryers take that simple process forever. Dyson did a wonderful job these, and I would love to see them everywhere.

  • what a stupid demo. He should have focused on the machine itself. sigh.

  • I totally agree! This presentation sucks. But the machine really is fantastic!!!

  • Loud as FUCK

  • GOOD THING IM NOT WATER! HAHA They just installed these in my school. figure about 800 dollars a piece. times 2 bathrooms per floor times 7 floors. = waste of money. paper towels are much better. but these things work great!!!

  • you have to cut threes(the thing that filter the air around) the product paper

  • Yeah, but schools have a set budget to spend. If any money is left over, they loose it out of their next budget. Thats why they strive to go over budget so they can show the tax payers they need more money. Ohh BTW these puppies cost over $1400.

  • Even if it is used in Japan, that country is the technological superhighway. To us they're quick, clean and efficient.

  • You must be a fool. The man and his company revolutionised the entire vacum cleaner industry. Hoover didn't want to know about his invention, and then they copied him. He took them to court and won $8 million in damages.

  • yes mr dyson is truely i great. for some reason last year i wrote a biography about him.

  • @volatileacid

Ah yes, he did all his research in the UK, used UK people to do it, then took it abroad to get it in production, yep, back stab your own countries work force.

  • Dyson unveils faster hand dryer...

even the Japanese dyson vac cleaners are better than the original uk models, so i would say this is a blatant copy and cash in by dyson, maybe the 10 year patent was up for mitsu. they have had these airblade style dyers in japan for over 10 years.

  • how much does it cost?

  • the dyson airblade cost $1400. Great because it saves the envirenment.

  • Only if it is solar powered.

  • it uses 80% less power than traditional dryers, moron.

  • I used one of these at the Universal City walk. Really cool, it does everything it says it does. I was surprised how quick it was.

  • when i first used them, i thought it was a washer and drier, like the ones they have in most fastfood places. and i stook my hands in dry. i looked like an idiot.

  • LOL! I did the exact same thing, I thought it was like a sink/dryer all in one so I stuck my hands straight in after a piss!

  • I used one of these up my local shopping center.

I didnt know what it done, it terrified me when i put my hands in.

    So cool.

  • Nagelixin says it - we've been using these in Japan for YEARS!

  • I dont like them because they are too loud.

  • I've used one of these & they are a lot quicker than the hot air drier.

  • yeah i saw these in japan 4 years ago - bad luck mr dyson.

  • Can it cook stuff? lol..Check out my video wherein I blow dry my tongue and then eat a cracker all while acting like a surfer dude...

  • does it hurt

  • Heard Russell Howard talking anout an "airblade", I thought it was like gun or a beach buggy car until they mentioned the name dyson. WHAT A NAME!!!

  • WHOA LOL

  • I think you'll find that whilst the desgin and concept is already in use, it's the motor inside that's different.

If i'm right I think its a digital brushless motor which generates heat through normal running, so it does not use a heating element and a fan, which is what's generally used.

  • they have this in japan already in public restrooms everywhere - we're a little behind.

  • The Japanese ones are awesome. Mitsubishi units are terrific. I want one at home.

  • airblade=most badass name ever.

  • Oh my god!!!

  • Oh my god, why do your hand have to graze against everything? That is just gross!

  • This coming from someone who has uploaded a video of a cat licking your hand. Hardly a germophobe, are you?

Everyone washes their hands before touching it and the air is HEPA filtered. Your hands will get dirtier touching the faucet than they will from the drier.

  • Yeah, but who says everyone washes their wrists well enough? No, the fact that your hands come into contact with the machine is a real concern, and a step backwards from regular hot air dryers.

  • Unless your a limp wrist, you don't touch the machine with your hands. You just place your hands into the Airblade and remove them slowy. It's really that simple to use.

  • But with a clearance of less than an inch on either side of your hand, it's still fairly likely that a good number of people are going to touch the sides, especially when they're in a hurry. If the clearance was larger, I'd have no problem with the machine.

  • Keep in mind it's the first generation of the hand dryer. I am sure there will be tweeks and fixes to come.

  • nice invention it splashes water everywhere around you to dry your hands off

  • Tell fruity Dyson that all dryers (all dryers) blow. The effiiciency drops when the room is humid, and the dryer makes no attempt to dry the wind. It needs adsorbents like silica gel and charcoal foam in the stream, a window, and a sunpipe to drive off the soakth--not more power.
