I APOLOGIZE IF THIS BOTHERS YOU, BUT CAPITALIZATION IS USED TO EMPHASIZE A CERTAIN POINT, OR TO SHOW EXPRESSION, U KNOW, LIKE PPL DO WHEN THEY ACTUALLY TALK? duh
For example, if you are making a speech before a crowd or on YouTube(haha), you have the asset of utilizing body language to stress certain points and/or to ***slightly*** raise the octave of your voice volume to narrow the audience's attention span that you do not, unfortunately, have in written communication.
The fact of the matter is that the usage of capital letters simply help the writer to compensate for the "perks" that are at the ***natural disposal*** of non-verbal communication.
Case in point: have you ***ever*** read any of the most important scholarly works in world history such as "The Federalist Papers" written by Alexander Hamilton & James Madison as well as the pamphlet "Common Sense" written by Thomas Paine??? They used capital letters--[the proverbial "CAPS"]--***all the time*** to stress certain points and words.
@Csavage472 lol, it's an old post I know but I can't resist. You're using a Ad Verecundiam fallacy here - aka appeal to authority. Just because Alexander Hamilton and etc did it, it must be right! lol
Hello, thank you for your video response. However, I believe that you are sadly mistaken if you are asserting that it is "unprofessional" to use capital letters to emphasize or stress a point (or word).
However, I am fully aware of the fact that the "Academic Elites" frown on the usage of using capital letters as it is--in their view--"yelling" at the audience. Nevertheless, this is further from the truth.
What is this exactly? Is it a title or a grammatical error? And of course, he was referring to the capitalization of the ENTIRE FUCKING WORD. Admittedly, I sometimes use capitalization, BUT, I speak with volume emphasis. I do not actually yell but I raise the volume a bit.
The veracity of this well thought out statement is exemplified by the frequency in which I laugh my figurative posterior off when I see it used against myself in my own videos.

once you drop your balls, You're voice deepens as your body matures.
this is due to the strengthening and slight tightening of the vocal cords that occurs during the time of puberty and growth.
Also, I'm sure everyone is sorry, but not everyone in this world has as colorful a voice as you.

The "T" in The Truth is not for emphasis, but ignorant, lil' you wouldn't understand that. ^^
HornPlayer983 4 years ago
Truth is one of those words that actually loses its meaning when capitalized. Another is P.A.T.R.I.O.T.

I ordinarily just use italics to emphasize a word, though this is impossible on YouTube, hence: Unnecessary capitalization.
You're correct in saying that the use of adjectives is a better form of emphasis, but I'm lazy, so nyah.

Under Which definition of fallacy are you working?
This doesn't strike me as fallacious, simply unappealing.

Illegitimate was to persuade someone.
Void890123 4 years ago
I don't see it as a method of persuasion at all, but rather a stylistic faux pas. Difference of opinion, perhaps.
