So much influence by the band Von in this song...An epic song...the 2nd half the drummer just holds back and lets everyone do their thing and is so god damn epic...my favorite watain song ever...not too many people can do an epic 14 min. song...So much talent in this band...WATAIN FOREVER!!!!!
That chord progression towards the end is really nasty, painful, and I think it's only by the guitar solos that it's made more "fun" for listening. What an intense fucking band.
After hearing this song I am left completely emptied and completely struck back by the immense ammount of emotions portrayed at the end. Best song I've heard in a long time!
haha! ey, sorry man, didn't know it was your period. all i'm sayin is that during them long verses, it would be nice if they could spice things up, not playing exactly the same for two minutes straight...but maybe thats what you like about it....
@MrBigwhiteballs Don't worry, it's not said with any kind of anger...
By the way, yes, I like it this way, but only when it's well done. That's their case in my opinion. And it's exactly the same for the opposite. For me, 90% of the Norwegian scene sucks simply because they are much more "repetitive" in their song structuce, and that it's not well done.
Man man man, seriously, this song is absolutely amazing in all aspects. Been listening it today again, and has been on repeat for like 90 minutes now. Actually gonna play it once more right now hehe. Thanks for this great piece of artistic work, Watain!
@killswitch3ngag3 Then maybe you should just leave your computers a little bit and go in the real world and you will see that "FTW" was primary used by outlaw bikers as a sign of rebellion against the society.
@TombViolator dude relax... Maybe you should stop cribbing and get some humor into your life instead. I meant that as a joke. Didnt find it funny? too bad. Jackass
@scatpornpooboy For sure not only, but I was saying this because most of outlaw bikers wear a FTW patch on their jacket, and also because E., P. & H. are bike lovers and that the link between the biker way of life is close to their FTW.
@TombViolator Yeah, Watain, and a lot of true Anarchists/Satanists align with people of similar ideals. Some of the true rebellious biker gangs around the world have share a similar whole FTW mentality.
Wow Fuckin Great!!!!! A lot of thrash and classic metal influence. This is true black metal. And I don't mean true as evil and Satanic. True is a band that holds their roots close to them and are true to themselves. That is true... Something sincere and honest. Does`n't have to be from Norway and doesn't have to be satanic. Only honest.
I think this track is absolutely perfect. It has everything. Power, dissonance, melody, atmosphere, clean guitars, distorted guitars (naturally) - same for the vocals and, quite honestly, one of if not, THE best solo I have ever heard in all my life.
You can really feel the love from 12:02 - 'Lawless Darkness was made with love rather than with hate' See the Terrorizer interview.
@DreadnoughtMetal2006 finally someone who understands. I have been trying to tell people what I mean, but they can't understand what I am saying about this song, but you know. "I give you my soul to devour.......a truth that in life I am doomed to search...but shall die to find." sheer fucking brilliance followed by the best solo known to man. that is why Watain is so good.
@9t6b6d6m9 It has a magic about it. Even people who HATE Black metal (or somtimes any kind of metal actually), openly admit that the writing is phenomenal and musical. The solos are just appreciated by them as well.
Greatness transcends all boundaries. I can play it but, not with the same feeling that they give it.

can see why its so raved about, but this song isnt actually all that atmospheric. burzum pisses all over watain for atmosphere. this is almost like how black metal would sound if kerrang channel got their hands on it. not sure what all the hypes about with this band tbh but whatever
@SmashedUpFetus You know I listen to a lot of classical, so, patience for music, I know what it is. Burzum is just boring except two or three songs made in the beginning of the band.
@TombViolator classical music varies more than most other genres, and doesnt take much patience to listen to or get involved in. if youd said you listen to a lot of house music, or ambient music, or something similar, then it would have made sense, because they use repetition and build slowly
@SmashedUpFetus as a burzum fan I know exactly what you mean. as a watain fan I dont know what the fuck your talking about. But as you know, burzum is best through headphones yes? try that with this song full through and you might hear it, if not at least you have burzum, which I have to admit is nothing compared to watain.
@TombViolator Depends of the compositor you're listening to...
And I do listen to a lot of ambient and dark ambient music, and industrial, also... And so Burzum is boring, especially the ambient period. Burzum is "cult" only because of the acts of Vikernes, not his pretended musical genious.
@ncawadias well, that's E. you know. And that's probably you too. But to me the first Burzums albums are not bad but they still pretty much boring compared to A Blaze In The Northen Sky or De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas for example.
@TombViolator I like those albums too, but I don't see the need for comparison -- especially when you consider that Varg was playing bass in Mayhem for De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas.

@nargwinth88 It's another way to say "Chaos", in spiritual words for sure... Chaos is the absence of light (darkness) and the absence of the laws of the universe (lawless (the laws of god)).

@nargwinth88 In ancient greek mythology it was the symbol of Poseidon, god of the seas. It represents a trident, a weapon primarily used for fishing. Later the Romans called him Neptune (although it was pretty much the same deity), this is why today we still use the symbol for the planet Naptune.
It's also associated with the Hindu deity Shiva. And of course, in Christian mythology the trident often was associated with Satan.
