  • I just purchased my 4th 944 and I'm done. This thing is in perfect shape and frankly, I deserve it baby! (Having kept the previous 3 cars from certain destruction:) The 944 is a brilliant car and very under appreciated.

  • I graduated from a 1977 924 to a 1983 944, back in the early 90s. Raced the 944 to two consecutive championships, then retired with back troubles. Drove that car for five and a half years and sold it to a buddy. It was one of the best cars I ever had. He drove it another five years and then found a 1987 951. It hasn't been as reliable and trouble-free as the 944 was.

Now I have another Guards Red '83 that I'm in the process of restoring. Great cars, they are.

  • I love my 944 :)

  • I bought my 1985 Porsche 944 late model for only $420 dollars. It has 235,108 miles on it and it still runs like a champ. This is my first car and I can't wait to restore it completely and keep it for many years to come... hopefully. After all, it does seem like I find something else wrong with it everyday, but luckily it's mostly cosmetic, and without problems along the way, what is a restoration anyhow?

  • it also look much better in every angle than some of today's porsches

  • Alpine Weiss (alpine white) 1984 naturally aspirated

  • love my black 84' 944 everyday, all day!

  • you guys need to stop being bitches and buy a porsche in need of work for ~500 dollars and breathe into it a new life.

    I'm about to do a 1984 944 stroker project.

  • @brianvan09 I have a 1983 944 non-turbo sitting in my garage in need of plenty repairs. The only good thing is that it still ran but that was at least 2 years ago. It needs a lot, including sunroof and center console gauges to be installed.

  • @TheGoGoSquirrels1 how much do you want for it? and where is it?

  • @brianvan09 I'm in Compton, CA. I haven't decided yet if I want to sell the car or not. I know that I'm just a YouTuber and people talk all of the time about what they have and won't/can't prove it. I'm going to take a pic right now and put it on YouTube. You can find me as Glenn C Turner, Jr if you want to see it.

  • What about the blue ridge parkway

  • My one's on the way. Can't wait !!!

  • I 've already got one! 944,black,all original from '86. The coolest car ever. Love.

  • oh yes, im gonna get one

  • I gotta get me another!

  • Got the '87 944, £1.2k. Absolutely beautiful.

  • Too bad it's fugly.

  • @clark1wd the 924 and the 944 were pretty ugly but if you think the turbo or the s2 are ugly id like to see what your girlfriend looks like.

  • I love my 85.5 N/A in guards red (the exact one in this video). I have 78k miles on it and it's still kicking hard.

  • @derbydog07 hahah same here just got one about a week ago, hasn't let me down ! <333

  • me and my friend put one of these in the local enduro in our state. piece of shit only lasted 50 laps.

  • Underrated car.

  • i miss mine..... snief... ;-(

  • I've had my 1984 944 for 3 years now and it is going on 300k miles. I hope I never have to get rid of it . By far the best car I've ever owned and very reliable as long as you stay on top of normal maintenance and do as much work as you can yourself. If I had to rely on a genuine Porsche shop for my work I may feel different but the car still turns heads and is a blast to drive.

  • the 88 honda prelude was just as good at handling as any car in the world at that time.....impressive for the money

  • @coandcaiv i doubt it and it had a lawnmower engine

  • @Stridersng1 well one repair and you should be good if you put a good clutch in, as long your not dumping it all the time right? lol

  • the reason i own a 951 1987 is because those phone dial wheels beatiful wheels

  • @klnava1 really? i think ther the ugliest put on the 944, my fav is the ones i have the cookie cutters, they dont stand out so much, ther more set in...the 86 951 a guy owns that might be sellin it has the phone dials, i want it soo bad..

  • these cost like $5000 for a nice one now

  • yeah i just picked up one in holland mi for just under $2000 rust free new clutch and rubber.. just needs interior work like all others though... granted it is winter and he had no room so it had to be sold i got one hell of a deal on one bad ass ride, (I currently own two now, a 84 and 87)

  • @ikankoroi And even sometimes less. I think it's a lot of car for the car today.

  • @ikankoroi do you think the prices will go up later?

  • @alexzracer2008 the prices of the later model turbos and s2's will appreciate in value because there were so few built, and the 3.0 litre 4 is highly desirable, short lived engine, producing amazing numbers for the day.

  • @ikankoroi got mine 4 2000

  • The 944 is built out of rock and very reliable. They are getting on a bit now, but good service history will get at least 200k+ miles out of one. Dont use main dealer servicing, but a specialist Porsche service garage, and the bills should be no more than for a Ford or Subaru etc. Ive owned many Porsches inc 944S2 which was brilliant!! For cheap reliable car with decent performance and style, that will hold its money 944S2, Turbo, or 968 is well worth the money!! Brilliant cars!! last forever!!

  • @coltsuperocean10 Second that, mate! At Comeau Racing, we do nothing but 944's. We've been racing our 944's in the 944 Spec class since 2003, and with some great success. Please see Comeau Racing .com

    San Diego, CA

  • @coltsuperocean10 amen brotha !!

  • @coltsuperocean10 minus the gear box isuse

  • ARKANSAS THE OZARKS

I always enjoyed that road but I didn't think it would be one of the top roads in the US

  • Which C&D issue mentions the top driving roads?

  • Anyone think i can get a good one for around 7k?

It would be my first car too and i am well aware that it is a high maintenance car

  • You can get a good one for 3 000 US dollars. ;)

  • Really? Where at? I know most of them are going to be high mileage but i want one that at least has had some of its parts replaced with newer ones. I don't want to buy a car and have to spend more then the car itself just trying to make it run.

  • I bought a Porsche 944 -85 two days ago for 30,000 Swedish Kronor (3920 US dollar) that was like new and had only been driven 13,000 Swedish mil (1 mil = 10 kilometers).

I bet you can find one even cheaper that have been driven a lot more but still runs fine. Note that this was without the turbo, if you want turbo you are going to have to pay like 3 times more.

  • sorry, i forgot to mention that i would want to get a turbo

How fast is a normal 944 with no turbo?

  • Its not really that fast, it got about 160hp, my dads saab is faster. :P But then again he got turbo. ;)

I'm not sure about 0-60, I haven't really driven it fast yet. But its a well balanced car so I think it is fast around a track, its almost hard to get it to drift. ;)

  • Yeah.. 944 turbo is the car for me =)

Just hope i find one for a good price..

Another question, what about the 944 tends to require the most maintenance?

  • I don't know really, all I know is that if something breaks on it its really expensive. You have to order the parts from Germany.

But the person who had it before me never had any real problems. But then again she only drove it like 100km per year. ;)

I would love a turbo but I'm a 19 year old student so I don't have a lot of money, I been working on 2 jobs to afford this one.

  • I hope i can afford the maintenance once i get a job :/

Could i use this car as a daily driver? It isn't too impractical is it?

  • I would suspect it takes quiet a lot of gas, but you live in US right? Your gas is dirt cheap compared to the prize in Sweden. ;) I'm only using/going to use mine on does nice sunny summer days. The rest of the time I'll use my Peugeot 405GTX. :p

  • Yeah, it's cheap for now but prices are starting to hike back up in my area. It's still no where near as bad as europe though.. i feel for you bro ;)

  • The gas is cheap in the US, compared to our income in scandinavia that is. ;-)

In june we were on vacation mainly in Florida and we payed around 3,60 dkr. / liter, thatd be like 5,00 sek.

In Denmark at that time the gas were around 10 dkr.

But u gotta bare in mind, that wages inthe US are far less than ours, i talked to this priest and he said he made like $3000 a month, thats what u get in Denmark from the union when youre unemployed. LOL

  • forget about other cars hp, power to weight ratio is what you need 2 look at, I have a 944 turbo , parts r expensive, but not all parts, i get a lot of engine tune up parts from a local car parts shop as a lot of parts are the same as a Audi, which Audi i do not know but he always comes up with the parts, except a accelerator cable which i had to get off the internet.

It is a extremely fast car, i put koni suspension on it and it is unstoppable now.

  • i can buy half a housr for 30k

  • Not 30k dollar, 30k Swedish kronor and if you can find even half a house for that your lucky. ;)

  • you obviuosly dont own one...

  • You guys that love 944's should check out the 944 Spec racing class. Do a search for racing videos here.

  • I own a 924 and I love it. I kinda have a grudge against these because they replaced my car, but I would love to own a 944 Turbo S (951 S)

  • my '86 is a pile... for now. destined to be a track car.

  • I had a black 1985 1/2. It was one of my all time favorites!

  • well i dont know who they is but ive never heard that before...

  • If "they" are right, I'm moving into a dumpster!

  • I hope you know someone who mainly knows how to fix porsche's because this car will eat your wallet

  • That is so not true. I have an 83 944 race car, and all I do is change the oil...these are bulit proof. Now if you buy one that has not been taken care of watch out... but fix it right and you will love it!!!

  • true, but if its taken care of then itll last a long time, mine was very neglected before i got it, so of course i gotta fix stuff...

  • Great!

    I love my Porsche 944.

    (1983 in LZ7Z Gemini Grey)

  • love my 87!

  • I love my 944 in guards red.

  • What a coincidence, so do I!

  • They are great fun aren't they!?

  • I want one so bad

  • Hahaha I already have my 944 losers

  • i have mine now, its awesome !!!!!!

  • got one too, gettin a turbo soon after i sell the one i got

  • Me too, im getting one this spring... an 944 85, i cant wait.

  • Im getting one this summer :)

  • carrerra 4 is the best

  • rich mtf.

  • I thought Porsches sold themselves without the need for car advertising!
