I have a feeling if Dalton had been in this, it would have been considered one of the best 007 movies. Roger was looking his age but apart from that it is worth your time, plus Zorin is a great bad guy. And it has this wonderful music.
superb music, made this a good Bond movie despite the weak points already mentioned, Die another day is easily the worst bond ever, closely followed by Quantom
@halifaxboyns Quite so, It is a solumn day for fans of the James Bond Film Series and the music world as a whole. John Barry's works gave the series style, direction and distinction. I'm sure his works will always live up to their great reception they gained upon original releases.
@LightStijn if you ask me it should be sean connery roger moore pierce brosnan daniel craig then timothy dalton and george lazenby in that order but thats just me i thought tomorrow never dies was ok in terms of the whole cgi thing which was a fail for other bond movies.
I used to play out this scene with my friends back in high school with a stick as an axe and a tree branch for the bridge. I played the James Bond and my friend played Zorin.
He landed back-first. While water can negate falling if you land on your feet (which Zorin didn't) the water will still make an impact and that will kill you. Zorin's dead.
@FanboyRehab When you view Zorin's death as not so lethal, I see that at that height splashing into the San Francisco Delta, and whatever unseen obstructions lie below the surface i.e., sharp rocks, would be the equivalent of being hit by a Mack truck going 86 m.p.h.
Many people rate this movie as "the worst Bond", and I disagree. I think Zorin is a great villain, Mayday is a great henchwoman, and the soundtrack is second to none, including the theme song. The fact that Moore is older than Tanya Roberts' mother is insignificant (though Moore said he didn't like it). It is actually a newer version of Goldfinger, with silicone instead of gold. I still like it.
@10kenbank 4 words: the fire truck chase. Much of the rest of the movie was ok but that fire truck chase which involves Bond dangling from a ladder making the least Bond-like sounds a person can possibly think of does not make for a great Bond film.
@gruntora I know what you mean. I had to watch QOS at least twenty times before I could understand the movie. I could practically drive a truck through the plotholes in that film.
No way is it worse than "Die another day" (the final nail in the coffin of the old Bond franchise) or "Moonraker" (despite it making a load of money back in 1979 and being rather entertaining).
@McLarenMercedes I think AVTAK is one of the most decent swansongs for a Bond actor. Ok Sir Moore was too old, but we had perfect villains (the ruthless Grace Jones and the insane Chris Walken), good stunts, memorable soundtrack ... what did we have with Diamonds are Forever? A tired Connery, crappy special effects, laughable villains...
Die another Day? Madonna (just meh, and her soundtrack sucks), an icy villain (did he really act?), a CGI overweight (invisible car, WTF?)...
@McLarenMercedes Agreed! "Quantum of Sh%t", "Tommorow never Dies", and "Please Die Today" were all worse than AVTAK. Old Bond is dead...enter RamboBond!
I remember re-watching this scene over and over and over again when I used to rent this as a younger kid so I could hear this epic music, wishing it was available. Now thank God, I have this song. People often criticize AVTAK, but regardless it has one of the best Bond fights ever with an excellent villain and better than perfect music for that scene.
It does. I've always thought the music was great even when i was younger. It shows to me how dangerous the fight is. The music takes it to the heights of where the fight is based
verrry nice, yeah i'd almost agree with you to the exact, except in my personal opinion switch Dalton around with Moore, just loved the seriousness in Bond with Dalton, however loved Moores charasmatic entertainment he potrayed within James Bond
This is the same music as the other video - A View To A Kill - He's Dangerous.
And that's why I didn't remember where that music were from if there was a other music for the fight scene on the golden gate. but it wasn't XD hahhahah

The movie could've been better, but I don't see why it's considered one of the worst bond films.
Moore was great for his age, the score was phenomenal, and Zorin was quite possibly one of the most memorable bad guys of the series.
