  • omg this is really crazy mike acts just like arthur , why would he try to mimic him to honor him

  • this looks so boring way of training

  • @livadica321 lol just becase your watching it, doesnt mean your doing it... yes it is slow and looks boring. but when your actually doing it, it is so much intensity. i tried this for chest, and i felt every single muscle fibre working, and is one hell of an intense training. i tried for back as well, and i felt all my muscles that i was working, biggest pumps. try it for yourself on a deload week.

  • Looks like he's in more pain then what working out should be , Why is this guy working with so much weight anyway , I would love to be built like him

  • He natural?

  • what's mike recommend for traps? i see delts, bis, tris..just wonderin, this shit is amazing i can't wait to get into the gym and try it on leg day tomorrow, just found this today

  • @steevojackass

Probably dumbbell shrugs, 4 second positive, 2 second hold at top, 4 second negative.

  • looks like he gonna break some shit

  • Sz that is a wrong idea. For muscle growth you have to provide intensity for that. Mike mentions that. Overtraining is continual high intense trainning without 100 recovery of the muscle. You will get weaker because of this not stronger!

  • Sometimes I think God allowed Mike Mentzer to be a bodybuilder only with the purpose to make Mike previously feels what he was bound to discover later: the real truth behind the bodybuilding art. You were a genius, Mike. You were a genius and we miss you a lot. RIP.

  • The way I look at it, if it takes you 8 days to recover you overtrained.

  • this video should be called how to train like a boss part I

  • I went to the gym with this video on my itouch and performed the same workouts I was dead for 4 days

  • hahah i love how he looks at mike @ 6:32 hes like " wtf this guys training is crazy!"

  • HAUSE: What do you fear the most?

MENTZER: That anabolic steroids may have somehow altered my personality. Many people fear that taking steroids will adversely affect them physically. I’m more concerned about the way they might have affected me psychologically or my personality. Scares me to death!

  • you know i look at mike and i just think, its a shame that he's dead

  • @fasteasydone Absolutely. Whats more sad is that he left no one that big and popular as him to pass on the legacy of HIT. Big shame.

  • the most motivating video i've seen. total gets you pump to work out.sounds kinda weird working out only 4-6 days. but he looks like he total drained markus.

  • there is one more guy who motivate more while your training dorian yates partner

  • legend has nothing to do with sciene... i love it!

  • if you count like"onethousandone" 2 seconds are over

  • Wow, he's really good. Him and Vince Gironda are my favorite.

  • 2001. He died of a heart problem. He had issues with that in his family.

  • I worked the front desk when they filmed this. Mike paid me 100 bucks to stay open an extra hour or 2. He was very nice to me. But i remember his crew being upset with him for smoking. He died the very next day then his bro ray died a day or two later. Very sad

  • @patdogg1978 so why did he die?

  • isn't he resting a whole month until hitting the same muscle group again? i couldn't train so infrequently.

  • @Orion8888 yea it seems crazy at first, but if you read his book "High Intensity Training the Mike Mentzer way" he explains why in complete detail.

In the book he recommends 96-120 hours. So this guy is taking a little extra than that off. But he generally says to rest 4-7 days. I always like to keep it between 4-5 days

  • @Clayton8424 I'm more of a 5-6 days guy myself. Glad to see another HITer.

  • do i use same weight for both exercises in super set?

  • the whole video was made in one day. they just changed clothes. Poor Markus was in hell. I feel bad for that poor bastard having to do a full body HIT workout.

  • Rest days depends on the individual. Simply monitor your progress with a simple, accurate diary. If you aren't progressing, you didn't leave enough time for your body to adapt to the stress you put it through last work out. You "short circuited the growth period." Increase your rest days and continue until you find your equilibrium. You will need to constantly record, monitor and adapt accordingly. Just remember never leave your HIT with anything left in the tank!

  • the fact that i will never have a chance to meet Mike is trully....man, i dont even have a word for it...just to meet him and to thank him for what he has done for my life (not too mention countless others) would be the greatest honour i could think of.

Mr Reinhardt, you are one lucky bastard

  • When are you supposed to train abs?

  • you need a 5-7 day recovery because this is heavy duty! One of the most INTENSE training styles! INTENSITY is the key

  • Is that 5-7 days rest per muscle group or total rest from training alltogether?

  • @mitjakaramatsov per muscle group.

  • @mitjakaramatsov The other dude was wrong. If you watch part two, Mike tells Markus that he'll see him in 6 to 8 days.

  • @mitjakaramatsov I have the same question. Anyone? thanks

  • Head back..head back...elbows higher!!!

  • "If you believe that, I sell you a used wig"- Mike had a great sense of humour.

  • I am pretty experienced but I would fucking die if I tried that.

  • He was left handed!!

    that´s interesting.

  • what's the music please?!

  • @Manuelcr7 : Paul Van Dyk; Tell Me Why, from Out There And Back. Enjoy ,)

  • "THERE YA GO, YA GOTTA WORK YOURSELF UP IN AN EMOTIONAL LATHER"

  • @yolk17 motivational lather lmao

  • did anybody record the workouts that Mike Mentzer put Dorian Yates through? I would love to see those

  • Well I asked on other videos about the amount days trained per week. I assumed a M - W - F type workout.

This is sounding like he's coming in 1 time per week.

I just don't get it. I keep assuming they are saying 6 days between a particular workout not ALL workouts.

  • @Chad01234 IT IS only once every 5-8 days between sessions not mon/wed/fri. I have been training this way for years now and i will take up to anywhere from 6-9 days rest between workouts as it is real brutal. I know its hard to take in that you will be doing each bodypart once every 4 weeks but i still grow from month to month and my workouts last 30-40 minutes but you are totally wasted after i shit you not! Try it you wont be dissapointed.

  • @theringmonster so if i kill myself every workout but i still follow 48-72 waiting period of rest. not a whole week, i havent heard or seen anybody grow tremendously like a volume workout while doing a hit routine and resting a week at a time.

  • @afterthefact15 If you train to the letter and push yourself to the limit and only take 48-72 hrs between sessions you may burn out after a few weeks or so, but everyone is different so try it to see how you go it may work, as for myself i need more rest days to fully 100% recover.

  • @afterthefact15 the purpose of a 7 day+ rest period, is for those who are heavy and lift very heavy weights, as more pressure is put on the body and an increase in over training becomes more apparent due to the tremendous pressures of lifting very heavy weights and a heavy mass. Therefore, more rest is needed to avoid overtraining and stimulate growth and rest.

  • @theringmonster Thanks :) I'll try :P

  • i love Mike,he really understood how the body worked..he knew how to train, and train smart at that.

  • i would like to train to that gym

  • Markus, you were only training 1x in 6-8days? So only doing chest once in a month?

  • excellent form

  • if u want to gain muscles-and weight-mike's proposes this kind of exercise plan with a 6000 calories diet.He said that litle fat is no wrong. If u want to lose fat, change the cal intake. The exercises are very stricly and slow always to failure.I think he preffer machines bcs the intesity is the same all the way up or down and u cant cheat.

  • if u beleive that i will sell u a used wig .RIP mike.

  • Please what is the name of this song music???

  • remember people if your still growing dont change it if you have stopped then you need to change it iv been doing less down the gym i used to workout 5 days a week now only doing 3 and i tell you i feel so much better now and im getting stronger to my muscles look more pumped :) if you aint doing steriods you will take alot longer to recover from a workout

  • How long does Markus rest between his Chest/Back day and his Leg day?

  • I guess 6 days. that means he does the whole cycle in... 14-15 days! Man! I wonder if he does some other sport in those rest days

  • 4:43: "sometimes i do miss judge, not often, every once in 100 000 cases" haha LOL

  • One time i trained right of him, in LA.

  • dam he struggled in the last few reps.. that looks like such good resistance training lol.. was he breatheing properly? myt of been hard because of the weight but ye..

  • Mike Mentzer is a Legend,

  • Whatever happened to Angel City Fitness?

  • Nobody could ever motivate me like this man! - RIP MM

  • how could you rest so many days and stay that ripped??? I don't know if this workout would work for me. I loss muscle very fast.

  • @ivanasv cardio

  • @ivanasv It takes months of not working out to lose only around 30% of the muscle you gained just from working out. You would have to starve yourself or be in a coma for years before you lost more than that so don't worry about resting 8, 9, or even 10 days before working out again. In his book he actually doesnt recommend daily cardio because it uses up the resources the body needs to grow. If you want to get ripped, stop lifting, and do nothing but cardio for a few weeks and change your diet.

  • @greendude9321 Stop lifting? Surely that's wrong?

  • @benniturd He's right-Mike mentions it in his book all the time-even in the beginning of the chest and back video he says that aerobic activity uses up too many resources needed to recover for weight lifting. He wrote that right before competitions he would focus on nothing but cardio to burn fat to get "ripped" or look more defined. I'm sure greendude didn't mean permanently stop working out-more like a break for cardio =)

  • @greendude9321 I would deem this according to my experiences inaccurate. I lost 50 pounds of muscle in 6 months of working an intensive labor job.

  • @InferiorThanYou u didnt eat enough food mate

  • @mrhighintensity Do you train chest and Back once a month ?!? :|

    I'm lost here...

  • @mrhighintensity Markus, I'm a huge fan and just done done reading HIT the MM way, and I was just wondering whether he had you on this type of routine when you trained (the ideal routine) or the more simplified "consolidated" routine. There seems to be some confusion online as to which type of routine Mike himself recommended. Thanks!

  • @mrhighintensity markus you're a beast, I love these videos
