Technically.. "The Best of Both Worlds Part 1" was the last episode of season 3, and "Best of Both Worlds Part 2" was the first episode of season 4.. and Picard was still captive until the very end. I disagree that the deflector dish scene "fell flat" as the narrator mentioned... It was space, and one of the first times we've seen them walking on the hull of the Enterprise... you're going to move slow in space.. I just think they were keeping it real..
Didn't like the Borg Queen. A silly moustache-twirling villain. The Borg used to be unique in their utter lack of humanity, then they spoiled it by giving them a queen.
I also agree that trying to turn Picard into an action hero was a mistake.
I've noticed over the years that if the movie isn't set in some other country with pain in the ass subtitles than critics seem to hate it.And for the record Picard WAS assimilated by the Borg!
Critics are the worst for spoiling films putting people off with information that isn't accurate this is why so many people would prefer Star Wars even though Star Trek is full of Wars like stuff which I feel has more story rather glowing sticks and magic but then I am a Wars fan too and yes you can be both!!!
@TheDebrick2490 more people prefer Star Wars because it's a silly fairy tale nothing more and it has a much larger audience of kids. Star Trek had nothing common with Star Wars beside one word in its title
Yeah I love this movie! One of the Nex-Gen crews best movies, definatley one of the best Trek movies ever. Best bit when the massive armada of Star Fleet frigates going all out attack on the Borg. They should make another, one off Star Trek movie, with all the captains from the classic series DS9, V, and Nex-Gen, along together with other captains of maybe smaller various ships, in a massive war with some enemy, maybe the borg again. That would be a real Star Trek film
That was due to a large refit just before the movie. This explains also why the enterprise had so many more weapons in nemesis as compared to first contact
bad review, picard action hero is brilliant, it happens in the show aswell so its not like its out of the ordinary. Loads of your facts are wrong. Best ST film.
I agree, bad review. Picard a "muscle-bound, Rambo-like character"? When? Rather short-sighted take considering the circumstances driving his actions. It was clearly established that now, more than ever, he was driven by rage more than duty. And the climax "weak"? Not sure what film you were watching but it was as exhilerating a finish as one could have expected. Now I remember why film critics and those considering themselves to be one are so irrelevant.
No, the borg are collective mind meaning they are a whole, one life. If its "The borg is back" it implies one whole, where as "the borg are back" implies more than one.
One thing is for sure, our language can't handle this! physically there are billions of drone, mentally it is indeed one mind, so you can choose what to say based on you're reference
My Grandma had a friend named Borg, but I forget whether her friend was of Norwegian or Swedish descent. So I believe it really is a Scandinavian name.
The borg queen is not a "Nifty villain", Her introduction to the story has always been a contradiction (like data said). She is the quintessential JarJar Binks...
Possibly one of the best Sci-Fi films ever and don't just take it from me, I have read that a lot of critics said that too. Also it is graced with a Jerry Goldsmith master piece throughout the film, especially at the beginning.
mmicheal was right,(again not to be a nerd)but it was in two parts, the beginning was at the end of the first season and the end was at the beginning of the fourth season. Also, Star Trek Nemesis was way better.
Am sure they will, but this is only my humble oppinion. And, I just happen to like this the most of the Trek films I have seen. Also I like Picard's character. Am no hardcore Trek fan, but this was a great movie. It had all things entertaining movie should have. And I liked it that way.

my favorite TNG lines are both from the enterprise E.
1. First Contact- Picard: There are 24 decks
2. Nemesis- Worf: Weve lost shields on deck 29.

That was due to a large refit just before the movie. This explains also why the enterprise had so many more weapons in nemesis as compared to first contact
