Here's a good trick for both the wii and the gamecube. If you defeat an enemy, right after you kill it, press the A button, and you'll sheath your sword like you would after learning a hidden skill. You're welcome.

About that, GC and Wii versions are reversed like a mirror. I know this because I also own the wii version. About the wolf, I can't help you unless you tell me the howling stone locations you have already found.
