One thing many people don't get: Condoms are not the solution to getting rid of HIV and AIDS. If someone has been infected, they are just going to have to suck it up get over their sex drive. The only way to eradicate HIV and AIDS is to quarantine the infected, as in prevent that group from coming into sexual contact with the general population, not to mention giving blood transfusions and other exchanges of bodily fluids. God bless the most reverend Pope Benedict XVI!
Why can't people in Africa use common sense and not have sex? I am by no means agreeing with the Pope I agree with birth control but people are so hungry for sex that they think a condom will solve everything.
@justforflag2 Why did not your parents use common sense and not have sex? I know this comment is 4 months old but I was so appalled by your racist and religiously bigoted comment I could not pass it by.,

Why I don't see anyone mentioning HPV which your can contract through skin on skin contact. In this case condoms cannot prevent the spread of HPV. People educte yourselves. The pope stance is that couples should be faithful and sex should be an act of love instead of lust? Is there anyone here who can proof that condoms are 100 percent reliable in stopping the spread of HIV? Some people who use condoms wrongly still contracted HIV.
@hetismij21: Correct! Finally I'm seeing some common sense wisdom. Think about this for a sec: The U.S alone has 3000 abortions PER DAY despite the wide availability of birth control devices. Orphans, disease, etc. is prevalent even though condoms are available. The root of the issue is people's ATTITUDE towards sex
Clever trick. The Church teaches that all unmarried persons should not engage in sex. So if unmarried persons obeyed, there would be no AIDS. The Church tells married couples not to use condoms. They certainly are not going to get AIDS if they remain faithful to each other. So the Church wants to increase life, and the condom promoters want to decrease life. So they concoct a ridiculous scenario of someone getting AIDS by obeying the Church on the condom issue, but not on extramarital sex.
@rock9711 You do realize of course that the same progressive people that want to normalize birth control among even Catholics, are the same that would allow (prefer) homosexual priests right?
With all due respect, do you know the data from Uganda and Botswana? In Botswana Bill Gates and Merck spent 13 Billion $ for condoms and condom promotion and the AIDs rates went up to the highest in Africa. In Uganda they listened to The Popes' message of monogomous relations and chasity and the rates went down from 22% of the population to 6% in just six yrs. Uganda has the lowest rate of AIDs in Africa now. The message of monogomy is working in Africa and the Philippines.
The program implemented in Uganda was called ABC: A for abstinence, B for be faithful, AND C FOR CONDOMS. Promoting monogamy is fine, but to brush off the fact that condoms helped reduce the spread of HIV in Uganda is dishonest at best, and malicious at worst. If you believe that condoms are immoral, and will keep you from living a rightous life that is your business; but in turn you have no right to impose your views on others, nor hinder medical progress that saves lives.

@MrAlexanderMadison No having sex with HIV positive people spreads the disease. Do you understand that? If you give condoms to HIV positive people they are having sex, right? Wouldn't you be more likely to get the disease with someone who has it even while using a condom than not having sex at all? The condom is just "masking" the problem and making it worse.
the Pope is right, the laws of God are not to be changed by simple men...so therefore condoms are a grave sin and never a solution to HIV/AIDS problem. the solution lays on education and abstinence. simple as...you either a catholic and obey Gods Laws or you follow satan...your choice !!!
Condoms or any type of contraceptions is allowed. There are absolutely no exceptions. Abstinence is the answer, for aids, and for a life in God or with God. Sex is not important, sex is from this world, sex is a brainwash given by all the media, ultimately, sex is a satan tool...
@luis1coelho Sex is a gift from God. Male and female bodies compliment eachother for the sake of procreation. But contraception perverts sex because it makes it more likely that people will be used and you are not open to God's will, you are saying "NO" to God like a little child, when using BC. I once heard a wise saying that went: "Things are meant to be used and people are meant to be loved, but all too often things are loved and people are used". One reason for this is because of BC.

Yes the Pope is a dick, he is also homophobic, sexually repressed, a harbourer of child rapists and has fascist views regarding sex in general.
