  • question dan, the speed you have here is quite fast i have gotten to somewhere near this level but the rifts that you use to seperate the chugs i just cant seem to get them to blend its as though im hitting a higher note but without going any higher than hole 6~? is it something to do with the blues scale !! and if so are you able to throw something at me cheers dan with what ever you have time for.

  • minkia bellissimo...very good

  • can you type out the tabs for this?

  • @ieatpilgrims hell no.

  • Dan, i must laugh when you say you cringe when you watch this video, i cringe just tryin to emulate it, lol, your one cool dude.

  • When you do fox trot and throw in licks, you are tongue blocking I'm assuming?

  • @mclovin1617 you can do both TB and pucker. I like the way i can get percussion out of tongue blocking, so much of this stuff is TB for me. It's all about finding and keeping rhythm, while mixing up between the clean and the dirty. it's tougher than it looks. I cringe when I watch this video. I've gotten much better at vamping and such, from practicing this a lot more. And, from Jason's videos.

  • @12gagedan Jason's fox chase video is excellent, I'm using that video most to learn the train method. It's pretty hard to start, but I suppose like anything, practice. I'm amazed at the resources online between you, gussow and jason, and I really am very very grateful. Thank you. Your low hanging fruit was very helpful for beginner licks as well.

  • Fox Chase By Blackfoot.

Hope you got some videos coming soon ;)

  • @tommror It's been a crazy holiday season. I have some ideas cooking.

  • Cheers Dan just got my first harmonica this week .Great help.

  • awesome job

  • Great ... Thanks Dan.

  • Fantastic!

  • I like to make it look easy. (lol). The harp really doesn't require much movement to play. Audiences like "body english", though. I move alot more onstage.

  • Thats amazing mate, keep on chugging

  • O_O oh my god

  • Awesome...loved it!

  • Check out Ronnie Shellist.

  • exellent video, i don't know the first thing about harmonica's, but i'm on my way out now to buy one, thanks to you for the insparation.

  • You've given hope to a 55 yr old who's just decided to pick up a harmonica and try and learn to play it. You're not only a great player but have a real calmness and clarity in the way you explain things. I'll be watching your videos over and over again...I'm glad you decided to make them.

  • I'm equally glad that you're watching, and learning to play. Thanks for writing.

  • that was awesome man. i wish i could train chug that good. im just startin tho

  • Just practice, practice, practice. It will come if you work towards it. Thanks for the compliment.

  • Jesus christ, I thought Sonny Terry was dead...apparently he's white now. Welcome back Sonny :) Sonny was the greatest blues harp (harmonica) player who ever lived, but you should know that :). Peace

  • why did you move across the country?, did they find out where you lived?, keep runnin' man......NO SERIOUSLY...been watching your stuff, brilliant, learning to play now after several previous attempts, you are a great help.......cheers from the UK, Mart.

  • man u are fcin amazing

  • Dan, could you do a video on the different vabratos? I've noticed that you use several different types. I particularly want to learn how to do the stuccato vibrato.

  • Good idea. I plan to make some more vids once my life calms down again. I just moved/holidays/work-travel etc. Thanks for the suggestion. d.g.

  • It's nice to see you play something freestyle; you get to open up and show how much you can rip! I've never really heard you chug before and you really turn it up around the 2:00 mark.

  • Hello D

It´s fantastic how one small harp can have so much music and rythm in it! OK! It´s up to the pearson will blow in it!

I will try a little Bb harp myself, but I´m a chrom player in jazzideom!

Thanks for Your fine tipz in videos!

    Johnny

  • I need to start wearing sunglasses to do this. Looks like I have a lazy eye as I watch the camera view finder. (laughing at self) Plus I'm sloppy as hell. (sigh)
