The only exploitation was when the European/dutch/chilean people came over in ships and basicaly run amock on the island within 200 years the population went from est. 15,000 to 111 individuals, trees were clear cut for sheep farms and ranches, dont try to blame the victims thank you. It's exploitation alright. Look at all the other islands histories Hawaii,Galapagos, see a pattern? i do.
