  • um did you use to keep the slate together on the pot? it looks cool and i want to use that idea around my wood cavern to make it look more rugged.

  • @targusspark I used aquarium silacone.

  • Very good series of videos, I will be setting up a planted tank next week, your videos are proving very helpful!

  • sweet videos

i wish i was your fish

  • love the series of u putting ur tank together check out my tank?

  • some stuff u put in there looks kinda of artificial but great job

  • Artificial ! Not in my tank. Years ago I used artifical but when I got turned on to the internet and youtube, I became like Coke...only the real thing will do for me.

  • @partyonman1959 i think he means the cave thing you built :)

  • looks good

  • what ballasts d you use? and where do you mount them

  • Ballast are GLO ballast and are mounted on the back of the canopy at the top. The ballast are about 35 to $50.00 depending on where you get them from.

  • what ballast would you recommend for a 5 t8 48inch bulbs, think theyre 40w each...im planning on building a nice light hood for a 200l tank. ..also planning on placing all five beside each other so are there external ballasts

  • man your filtyer is so sleak...all black and powerful...i was wondering since you have undergravel cable heaters isnt that enough to heat the whole tank already?...love the whole concept hope i could make my own super tank one day totally DIY...

  • The cable heater is only to warm the substrate and create a covection current. warm water rises to the top, the nutrient rich cooler water settles into the substrate delivering nutrients to the roots. Cable/substrate heaters arn't enough to heat entire tank

  • a 400 or 500 gal filter ona 130 gallon nice i have the fluval 305 and it works amzing imagine the fluval fX5 woah

  • Just discovered your vids, i hope your still up and running! You have an eye for detail and so far this is a MONSTER tank. I love this! Thanks for sharing bud. :D

  • hey how do you keep your aquariums clean like the sand? because you will mess up the layers with a gravel cleaner. can you let me know?

  • The plants and bottom feeders. There is usually no need to vaccume with a heavily planted tank. You can direct your water flow from your filter or power head to stir up any debre so it can be taken in by the filter. The plants are great filters themselves along with oxygenating the water.

  • thank you very much also your videos are great i watched all of them! You should make anouther video of what it looks like now :)

  • My daughter & her hubby moved in and I've kinda neglected the tank. I will try to get an update real soon.

  • great thanks XD

  • Backing off on steralization and will only use if I have an algie bloom. Bulb is probably old but with the contact time with the water I'm sure its still effecent enough to get the job done.

  • Great work

    some no-use comments-questions :)

    1. UV is not so useful after all, changes the DNA, but it does not eliminate bad bacterial, makes fishes sensitive living in a sterile environment, and without immunogenic system;)

    2. Is this filter enough for the monster tank?

    3. I didn't like this moonlight, too much light and too blue.

    4. Is this sand not cretaceous for sure?

If not you'll have problems with the hardness of water (kH & gH) and acidity (ph)

  • I tried to get info on ultraviolet sterile. I felt that some how it had to be harmfull but untill now, I never heard any negitive about it.

    2. This filter does 600 gallon per hr. Holds lots of bio media.

    3. Moonlight is much different now that the tank is planted. Dark near the bottom / brite on top.

    PH is 6.5 to 6.8 temp 80deg KH 3 GH 10-15

Pressure co2 causing ph swings but got it figured out. Check out video #4 & 4pt2 Thanks for commenting. I'm still learning and by no means a pro

  • video 4, already checked & commented ;)

    I don't remember, is there any ph-controller?

    Is it a big swing?

Mystery, kH over 3, gives enough protection to the ph stability.

kH in my tank was 0,5 before diy CO2.

After adding CO2 ((72 bubbles/min), i raised kH to 1,5 and the swing is 0,2 (day/night), same as before.

  • wheres #4 thats bad ass i think i need more room now

  • Part 4 is now posted as well as 4pt2

  • Just because the sterilizer turns on, doesn't mean that the bulb is still ok, an old bulb makes your sterilizer useless, are you sure it's not an old bulb?
