it does look to me that God does something to get ppl to believe in the first instance. but this calvinist idea of "once saved always saved" doesn't seem to stack up with the bible.
If what Dave is saying is true, there would be no need for the the Spirit to descend on those hearing God's word preached in the book of Acts, which removed the scales from their eyes....
Rom 8:5a,6,7 "Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires;" "The mind of sinful man is death...The sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to GOd's law,nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God" (read chpt)Jn 8:34 Jesus says anyone who sins is a slave to sin. Eph 2,col 2:13 etc free will?
Whether or not God owns man anything is obviously not the issue here, and I am not sure why so many Calvinists never seem to get that. And it is in fact that Calvinist who does not understand grace. It is not "gracious" to force something on someone.
Dave simply doesn't understand the nature of man, the nature of the fall nor the nature of grace. All men stand condemned of sin, God's saving ANYONE is a gracious act. Dave seems to believe God OWES men salvation.

And it is in fact the Calvinist who does not understand grace. It is not "gracious" to force something on someone. A gift (such as eternal life), BY IT'S VERY NATURE, must be RECEIVED.
God doesn't force anything on anybody. He changes hearts in order for the rebellious sin loving man to see God for how beautiful, awesome and loving He is and then FREELY choose Him. (Ezek 36:26) Before man believes in Christ, he has to be born again (1 John 5:1) Being born of God is passive perfect tense, in other words, God "fathers" the person IN ORDER for him to believe. He does not do this for everone. He does it to those whom He has elected. This is GRACE. That He would do this for u
gift is gift has to be received accept not force grace is grace how can you receive grace when you dont want to ,,,,,salvation is received only by faith faith comes to hear the word of God and obey it wicth any one without acception is able to do
It sounds like you do not understand grace, your emphasis is on natural mans understanding of what a gift is. Grace is unearned, unmerited favor, of which thier is nothing meritable in you or me, including faith, which of course is a gift also.
Dave Hunt is a man who is not afraid to say what he means, and no where does he say that God owes us salvation, he said that it is God's will that we come to Christ. Dave Hunt has a love for the Truth of God's Word. The end is very near. 2 Thessalonians 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. Pray that you receive the love of Truth.
Yes your right but how is the gift received? We do receive Christ or choose Christ but NOT until God removes our heart of stone and replaces it with a heart of flesh (Ez 36:26)other wise you're saying that we have a will that can choose Christ.

Dave wouldn't understand the verse about Judas. Jesus said Judas' apostasy/damnation came about that the scripture might be fulfilled.....
