I've come back to this again, New York Raw. I think the photographer is more enraging than the bus guys. He strikes me as the kind of idiot who would rant and scream about Ansel Adams having used inferior equipment, and never would understand the glory of the art has nothing to do with the equipment.
It would do well for this puke to memorize the words and intent of the old song "Inch Worm". Stop and see how beautiful the marigolds are, hot dog.
These stupid Asians are taking over the USA. As a photographer you do not need to explain why you are filming or answer any of their questions. The dumb Asian guys should be arrested for illegally detaining you.
I'm sorry but I must agree with MindCrime, and since you blocked him, you will probably block me too lol. Yes I read your description and yes you were recording a bus that was double parked but dude come on...how many buses and cars in NYC don't double park these days, you gona record all of them too? I'm sorry but it does seem to me that sometimes you just are looking for trouble. And yes I have seen some of your other videos and many of them made way more sense to record than this.
So, other than the vid for youtube of a bunch of pissed off asians, what was the original goal of shooting this again? What did you hope to get out of it? Yes, we have the LEGAL RIGHT to shoot anything in public, but c'mon people, how about showing a little respect for the people we point a camera at, ESPECIALLY when there is nothing happening worth pointing it at in the first place. If you had a shot in mind, a goal in this other than pissing ppl off, great, but I don't see what it was.
Document my experience being harassed. and how about their respect in pointing their (cell phone) cameras at me? I only started recording AFTER they start recording me, and I realized, damn, they may use that video against me, so I have my own video recorded as counterpoint. and also to PROVE to people that it is legal to shoot on in public, who cares fi they are pissed, or not pissed. the law is the law, don't try and strawman this argument.
@NewYorkRawVideos "strawman", is that your "political spin word of the day"? And the first 40 secs of your vid doesn't show anyone pointing cell cams at you, just people looking at you with an expression that CLEARLY says "Dude... WTF are you doing filming ME? Get that out of my face!" before anyone starts pointing cameras BACK at you, so if your goal was to "Document my experience being harassed" your goal was to GET harassed, and you are making photographers look bad to the public.
you are obviously entitled to your opinion. if you ever looked at my other videos--bus videos--i was there to videograph the buses, people boarding, etc. that was my original purpose of filming at this location, but then somebody objected to me filming. you probably did not read my description of this video, nor did you look at my other video. bye bye. blocked.
...plus the fact that the bus was double parked, and idling, loading up passengers was important to the (original) story idea. In nyc, there are several groups, cb1 chinatown working group, cb3, etc who are working on studies and possible rules regarding curbside bus pickup. there are already rules on the books regarding idling buses. just wanted to document this, but the original idea was hijacked by ppl who objected to my filming.
Good Lord! Photographers use entry level DSLR's with kit lenses? Who's full of BS??? Maybe he meant black cameras. Is your camera black. If not that is most likely what he meant. Dude probably spent as much on his bullhorn (so he can spread his bull farther?) as he did on his camera gear.....
"what kind of photographer are you, using a cheap camera like that?" If he was a REAL photographer, he should know that it doesn't matter what kind of camera you have. I think that part pissed me off more than the bus driver
Good supporting statements in the narrative. I believe that anywhere, particularly in NYC, taking photos and video in this setting will arouse suspicion. We couldn't see the initial encounter because you edited out. That raises suspicion for me for me at least. Given that many “reasonable and prudent” proprietors might be concerned about this behavior, perhaps you can plan out a more effective and reasonable response. Still it’s a tough spot to be in.
Excellent video and notes. Love the title. People are more and more crazed and I don't know where it will all end. I'm glad that photographers are standing up for ALL of our rights! Photography is NOT a crime! When did all this change? It's scary now.
Don't worry about that bonehead with the camera. He's compensating for a small dick with that big equipment, that I'd wager a thousand bucks he hasn't the slightest idea how to use to it's fullest capabilities. "Don't gimme no bullshit", indeed. I'd say that asshole doesn't need any bullshit because he's already completely full of it.
Give us the name of the company, man, and we'll inundate them for their shit attitude.
hi, no, this is not fung wah. fung wah, and its competitor lucky star bus (buses to boston) run a more professional operation as opposed to these clowns. this company on chrystie street run buses to florida. I'm not going to name them and give them any more publicity as there are few discount buses that go to florida.

Why did you not press charges against them, false imprisonment, assault, convince the officer to press charges for filing a false police report (what did they say to get the cops out there).
i wrote several emails to a few people who may be interested in this, the only one who answered back was a representative of the curbside bus team from the chinatown working group (of manhattan community board 1) he said to he would forward it to a council member for review, etc. also told me to mention this to the new precinct captain later on at the next police precinct community meeting.
while this is a big deal, i have to pick my battles carefully.
@SXEPOPTART Agreed. I carry a point and shoot 90% of the time when I'm photographing on the street. I mainly use my dslr for studio work, and don't like carrying my expensive equipment in public. That guy was an obnoxious douchebag.
@NewYorkRawVideos I'm glad you knew your rights and stood your ground. Screw those guys.
Love the "photographer" with the entry level DSLR

He Should Be Embarrased Of Saying A Real Photographer Uses A Big Camera When Hes Walking Around With A Entry Level DSLR.

These Chinese guys are probably illegals, maybe, and they definitely do not know the law regarding rights to film in public.

In my state that would be grounds to hold them criminally or civilly liable for false imprisonment. WOW
