I LOVED Bucks Fizz but my Mum banned me from watching tiswas so I've never seen this, I'm crying laughing, this is the funniest thing I've seenin a long time, thanks for posting. I was never a fan of Making your mind up as a song so now I have a new version to sing too lmao xx
lol at Mike chucking the custard (sounds rude) over Bobby at 1:31! When Sally interviewed them briefly afterwards, Mike said that was even more thrilling than winning Eurovision, and some of the pie went down his throat! They had jackets they were going to wear to give away as a prize but took them off, so Mike gave away his gunge and custard pie soaked t-shirt instead lol!
Unlike many of their contemporary Saturday morning kids shows tapes of Tiswas were very rarely wiped. However the saddest thing is that the library was subsequently sold off, split up and poorly stored resulting in the fact that very little of it is now of broadcast quality and even with today's technology, attempts at restoration are difficult and expensive.
TISWAS was, and still is, a wonderful creation. Long before the reign of 'PC', this show was all about being young at heart. The world today could use a program like this that allowed kids to be kids and have messy, mucky, innocent fun. No PC's, no XBox's etc, just great, bloody good, honest fun!
Have I really been watching hours of Tiswas & OTT clips on Tube? Damn right I have!!! The most brilliant kids show for adults ever!!! Nothing will ever come close, especially now with the crazy H&S execs and their mamby pamby softly softly approach. Tiswas was pure raw talent, no holding back & in your face, Literally!!!!
Yep..Tiswas was the best kids show on the planet..it was non rehersed and totally off the wall zany humor..Even the camera guys had a right laugh along with all the guests on it..I'm now 45 and still think it's so funny..I mean everything from Bucks fizz to Motorhead..What a mixture ay..
@russkinruss The final series after Chris left featured a game called Pop Personality Pass The Pie. In one edition, the last two contestants were Cheryl Baker and Phil from Motorhead. Phil won, and got a bucket of mushy peas courtesy of the Phantom lol!
@DrBeatmusic I agree with you entirely, there's been nothing like this on telly since. Poltical correctness and health and safety wouldn't allow this today, mores the pity. Tiswas will always be in my heart and soul.
Yes, that's correct. I was never a fan of Tiswas, it was a behind-the-sofa effort to watch it, but it got this cult following which it still has to this day and indeed it was, as Rick Wakeman said, the show everyone wanted to be on (is that Cliff Richard, of all people, in this clip?). It certainly broke the mould as far as Saturday morning TV goes; you couldn't have had Dick And Dom or Ministry Of Mayhem without Tiswas.
I remember watching this, used to love saturday mornings and this clip is still funny today.Trust mike to wear a white shirt though.
