  • what a shame we don't hear the end of the song !!

  • YouTube: where the worlds greatest resource meets the worlds biggest morons

  • unlike many other youngsters i grew up with dylan and rock, dylan brings bck the good memories i had with my dad when i was a child.

Due to this song i rented "the hurricane" years ago and even loved the song more ^^

  • a black guy wrongly convicted of murder, sent his case to bob Dylan who wrote this song about it.

  • makes my face smile.

  • Bob Dylan is on the eqaul rights side hes not a racist

  • why can't african americans drop the whole slavery thing?

In africa many of them would have starved to death or been killed...

for all that oppression they are now living a hundred times better then many africans.

  • @atter0 no its fair for them to do that

i can see where your going but in africa it wasnt that bad, and here we tortured tehm

  • @atter0 how fucking idiot you are.and why don't native americans drop their complain of being robbed off their land?they should be happy living in the almigthy, richest and above-all united states where everything i so fine!where crime don't exist, where everyone is well fed and treated right!oh how much better new york is then those dirty forests in north-america or africa where people are suffering from asthma and cancer and allergies and all that shit!

  • yet denzel washington biggest racist of em all.!!! true..

  • @MrStevieb71 ya mayb

  • niger is the latin for the colour black i can only assume nigger is the modern word..??

  • @MrStevieb71 thats correct

  • wot a waste of life..!!!!

  • @MrStevieb71 shut up til you learn how to spell.

  • if people just opened their fucking eyes and even looked at the video...

  • does anyone know what the instrument at the beginning is called?

  • its amazing how the blacks were treated back then :(

  • before you call him racist learn what folk music is. they sing about real life situations plus it was the 60s in the middle of the civil rights movements

  • I love it! My favorite

  • before judge someone as a racist because he used the word 'nigger' try to look for the CONTEXT in which that word was used. clearly the song sides with a black man who was falsely convicted, mainly because of his skin color. so how the hell is this racist??? it's clearly the opposite!!

LOOK AT THE CONTEXT PEOPLE!! NOT JUST THE "BAD WORDS"...

  • Wow I really love it!! XD

  • Fantastic

  • Greatest storyteller thats ever lived. fact.

  • 5/5 because he said crazy and then the n word.

  • My favourite!

  • to me there is a difference between black people, who treat people with respect and niggers, who are ignorant

  • The Realness, Bigup's Mr. Zimmerman!

  • sorry but i dont like this song :(

  • Hit #33 in Billboard. God bless, brother Bob!

  • great song and who cares if he did or dint do it its over lets stop fighting over it and keep the peace

  • Comment removed

  • Great Movie :)

  • using the n word in this song is part of the context.

  • OK maybe carter did do but theres so much more to this!! It wasnt just about carter and the murders, its about how african americans were treated in the past!! I quote "If youre black you might as well not show up on the street" it didnt matter if you were the richest or highest class citizen you were still hated!!! It brought around massive change for the good!!

  • lll

  • such a stupid comment...

  • its quite stupid that your saying something about jews being racist but yet your saying something extremely racist saying they should burn. obviously you should look into how much racism and prejudice the jews went through...

  • what you guys are forgetting is this song was written during a different time were it wasn't racist to say the N word, plus just because a song is controversial doesn't make it vulgar in anyway. like tovariovich said its art

  • Comment removed

  • Hey

Calinn86 why dont you just complement the way that the song plays, not about the actual crime. Its a good song and a good movie.

  • @MiniMacaroni tell that to bob dylan who refuses from many years ago to sing this song anymore ;)

  • Comment removed

  • i like this song, i especially appreciate the fluence of the verses, but i still get a feeling of disgust, because the lyrics don't tell the truth.. carter was the one who commited those murders, there were tons of evidence against him, he didn't pass the lie detector test, 4 of his alibi witnesses admited they were paid to lie in his benefit, he had a background of crime and he often bragged that he stabbed and shot at people.

  • love this,Paterson,NJ,tough neighborhoods in this town,Love to play My EBO lines to this, can really Boom It! Is It True Carter really did it? seen someone post this!

  • Oh Man!! This is the best song ever!!!=)

  • Well it turns out, Carter did do it after all.

  • @Pattonash

Yep, Carter's guilt was never really in doubt, this asshole Dylan's song is what got him all the sympathy, but basically Carter was just released when he became eligible for parole after 25 years so who cares. The idiots who say he was "proven innocent" are retarded and don't know the facts.

  • what are the facts? I'm not having a go at you, I'm just genuinely interested, cos the media usually pours so much bullshit over anything like this it's really hard to find the real story, bit like the bullshit surrounding Princess Di's death. Speeding car hit wall. Simple as.

  • @mattbarclay

    Google it for yourself

  • @TheJomogogo well there are no "facts" on the internet, just plenty of propaganda from both sides. Thought you might have had a few conclusive articles somewhere explaining your point of view. Clearly not.

  • I'm a 58 year old GHFOG and am ashamed to say I've only just started getting into Bob Dylan -this is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard

  • Agreed. A magnificent job.

  • fucking great

  • Rubin Carter great fighter, great man. Dylan at his best. Desire quality album check out Black Diamond Bay,Sarah , Joey, whole album masterpiece.

  • Fucking great song

  • unrealhel, he wrote the song eejit

  • this is the best song ever writen.

  • How did he remember all of those lyrics? Blows my mind. :P

  • prehaps hes not thick?

  • Well that hurt. Happy?

  • @UnrealHel well i know all the lyrics lok

  • this song is for everyone of us, not only for Carter, this song is ART

  • @tovariovich aewsome song!! agreed 100%

  • Although the lyrics often make the flow of the song akward & despite the fact that I think Dylan was heavily pushing his own agenda, I think this is one of the greatest political/ rock songs ever made.

  • Its funny and yet sad how someone can enjoy a great song. and I soon as they hear the word nigger they freak out and call the artist racist.

If Dylan is anything he is not a racist but a musical genius.

A great story teller, a wonderful poet. unlike artist today.

  • If bob dylan was a racist he would'nt write this song!

He came up for rubin so he is'nt a racist!

It does'nt matter witch language our colour you are...

  • amazing song, great movie

dylan supports rubin "the hurricane" carter

    respect

  • he supports a murderer and that's wrong

  • hey doug ,im white, how the fuck does it make me look bad, dont generalize like that man, produces bad vibes

  • At 2:50 does Dylan say "Identify the guilty men" or "Identify the guilty bitch"

  • men

  • poor rubin carter...many years in jail for something he hadnt done...fuck racism

  • have you read anything about this??? or do you draw conclusions based only on the song? carter lied on lie detector tests, he bribed 4 people to falsely support his alibi, they found bullets who matched the caliber of those used in the murders in his car, 30 minutes after the murders, the car he drove was the same model and colour, his attorneys admitted there were tons of evidence against him, he had previous problems with the law and he never was proven or pronounced innocent by a law court

  • People are always trying to pin things to a big name celebrity....Dylan was under CONTRACT to COLUMBIA RECORDS TO PRODUCe ******* recordings per year.....He is innocent of anything and just wants to be a family man!

  • @countryboyjessiem

I didn't say that he was racist...the lyrics say something but if he didn't read it and wasn't listening to all of it he could have misheard rsum!

  • dylan dnt play dis no more cuz he tinks hes guilty rubin failed 2 polygraphs and refused to take another

  • is that true??!!

  • NO! HERE SAY.

  • A little more to it than Dylans song. Denzel Washington starred as Rubin Carter in the movie "The Hurricane". Look up Rubin Carter on Wikipedia for the complete story if you are interested. A good read.

  • Love this song. And apparently, this actually happened, and this Rubin guy was sent to court, etc. Once Bob Dylan made the song and the judge heard it, the man was sent free... Soooo this song saved a guy's ass XD

  • no thats not what happened man, bob dylan wrote song yes, but it took years after the song was released before a white family set this man free

  • dats wrong, when the judges heard it they gave his a re trail but he was found guilty again

  • @RyumeXSasuke4evr I dont know if you joking, but Dylan did not get Rubin freed. I really hope you are kidding around or just young and stupid. Rubin Carter was freed for different reasons and they had nothing to fo with this song. Its a very sad story that this man was imprisoned because of his race. It makes all white people look bad.

  • i have read the book about ruben carter and this song describes it to a tee, bob dylan explained it very well in the song, but the book is sooo much better

  • Comment removed

  • stop giving me thumbs down, you brainwashed idiots.. you have no idea about the real facts here.. Dylan himself refuses nowadays to sing this song... why do you think he does that??? just so some research before expressing opinions

  • How do you know? Were you there?

  • best song ever...excellent video...tells a story with the vocals and a minature video....well done...its one on my youtube hits....

  • this is the best song eva...its a vocal film

  • man thats a great video and an incredible song. its these kind of songs that make bob dyan the best songwriter of all time. i mean think about it, no single person comes close!

  • he was the american middle weight champion

  • actually, his record was 27 for 39, you fool

  • @raymercify = douchebag:)

  • bob dylan always was a genius love this song and love what you done with putting this video togther shame the hurricane was falsly accused for all that time tho

  • Comment removed

  • you really are smart...the song clearly says what the movie is about

  • you golla love bob dylan

    <3

  • bob dylan <3

  • amazing that a musician of dylans stature would risk his neck for a better cause

    something you dont see nowadays

  • good point! I think george micheal tried to protest against the war with 'shoot the dog'

he was completely lambasted for it.

it seems you cant sing about real things these days. You cant raise an eybrow or talk about gritty issues in your songs. they have no meaning.

well, the stuff in the charts anyhow. tis why i dont listen to that tripe :)

  • Some of the goddamn truest shit I've read all goddamn day.

  • @MrSweatyPants

I couldn't agree more songs used to be a way of expression now they're just about money, like everything else.

  • A classic show that at one time music was an art form. Now it is just a commodity like everything else.

It's why music and songwriting of the past was so good.

  • Rubin was found innocent so how? would that make nim a murderer ? do u even know the story? get with it bud.

  • @raymercify

ha ha. i needed a good laugh.

  • i luv this song!! i just saw the movie in my english class and i wanted 2 cry it was so powerful!! im so happy that they finally cleared his name and rubin carter was able to walk out of prison as a free man!!

  • please re-upload this track in full

  • ive been l to this song for about a year now and i still love it

  • why the song isnt complete?

i last something like 8-9 minutes

  • "i last something like 8-9 minutes" haha lol thanks for sharing

  • if your black you better not show up on the streets

  • whats that suposed to meen?

  • read the lyrics...either that or he's just a racist motherf***er

  • @bloodbrothers1313 Really? Your stupid. Why is Dylan supposivly racist? Because he said niggar? Get real.

  • I thought his name was Bob Dillon. This song was topical at the time, loaded with rythem and political dynamite. The violin/fiddle reflects the crying, wailing plight of the racial victim,as it was thought at the time. The pace of the beat reflects the aftermath of the event and if you listen to it with your ear up close to the speaker, you can taste the pepper spray of the time. I once drove through a strong wind, that was later declared to be a hurricaine.

  • No - Bob Dylan

  • Hadda Bra, yomalek. I am Irish and I love Norway. I have worked in Norway,on and off since 1983. I am Irish so I say from my Celtic Language "ga mbeigh Grasta De leatsa" May God's Grace be with you. Stavanger, Bergen, Kristiansund are where I work from now. I work in the oil business. This is Bob Dylan's best song

  • im danish :)

  • yomalek, my apologies :) I am not too familiar with the differences between the Danish, Norwegian and Swedish languages. I remember, years ago, when I and my Irish colleagues, when we worked in Oslo, used get the DFDS Ferry to Kobenhavn. The Tivoli Gardens was our favourite venue. Denmark (Danmark) is a great and proud Country
