  • I bought a capo just to be able to play this song. Looks like so much fun.

  • You play ggod. Man I wish that I stitill had my Yamama quitar!

  • Love it. I've got the harp part down but after watching you I need to capo It seems.

Sure wish you'd do Morning Son off of Burning Sky and tackle Thorn in My Pride.

  • @snovoice Already did Thorn in My Pride.

  • please pass me the chords and riffs fvro message

  • your shit is tried an true brother. you have this down. thanks what type and model guitar u have?

  • Thank you for posting this video.

  • one of my favorites of the album, ever since I was a kid

  • Sweet sound, and sweet sweet guitar. Brilliant !

  • Just plain cool. First time I ever watched a video of somebody playing guitar.

  • you should do Cocaine blues by Keith richards. please

  • Glad I found your videos man! I was sitting here playing Prodigal Son on my guitar: I always played it in std E. Tried the open E..Works great! Now I found Sweet Virginia and although I played it semi-correct in std E, it never sounded quite right. I've never tried using a capo very often. Big difference. Keep up the good work!

  • what's the tune you used?

  • @colojoeramone It's standard tuning. I posted a separate lesson on how to play it.

  • @colojoeramone did you not read the title?

  • I put my guitar away 15 years ago - frustrated and defeated. I don't read music, and I can't translate tabs to save my life, but I stumbled on your Factory Girl lesson a couple of weeks ago and decided to give it one more go. I can't believe I got it and I'm getting there on Sweet Virginia. I can't thank you enough!

  • @ElChalsa Keep playing. Every time you put down the guitar, you're a better player than when you picked it up.

  • @privettricker That's a great piece of advice and true. Last time I picked it up (about 3 years ago) I amazed myself at what I could do, all of a sudden. I suppose it's got something to do with the fact that you know you're never going to set the world on fire and hence, you just play for the sound the the thing makes - or something like that.

  • @ElChalsa Shit, you've got me thinking too :-)

  • I love this song and was looking how to play it with all the little fills. I noticed this while playing ur wearing a shirt that says Eastman school of music right??!!?? well i know this is going to sound weird but my last name is eastman haha where can I get one of those!?!?

  • @littlejim13 It's the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester. I didn't go there, but I have a relative on the faculty there.

  • stones songs, and folowing keiths playing patterns, have taught you enough to be able to pick your own stuff pretty dam well. and i do the same. iv only been playing for two years but iv picked up on it quick and primarily i follow keiths style to learn from it too.

  • dude id just like to say i think youre awesome. we both share a love for the same band. Keith Richards is amazing on guitar. matter of fact i bought his book not that long ago. if i had to choose one band to listen to for the rest of my life it would easily be the stones each song is like another mental dimension (so to speak). i read on one of your videos you commented to someone who called you amazing guitarists, and you said you werent,, well regardless of if thats true, i bet learning all

  • Que grande eres!!!. Lo bordas...

  • A woman I work with saw this posting and thought the song was

'Sweet Vagina"! Hey who would know better than the Stones!! Now I love this song even more!!

  • @andy65guitar Well that would a whole new meaning to the song! LOL!

  • @markwalker1965 When you get down to it, isn't that essentially what all Stones songs are about?

  • you are an inspiration

  • @MultiTyeDye1 No -- Keith is!

  • @privettricker You both are...I really would love to see a lesson this song..The intro is SO sweet and mellow.

    Keep it up, man.

  • @privettricker keith is

  • Very nice...I love this song.

  • is that an epiphone or gibson? sounds nice!

  • @FRIJJMONSTA A 1985 Gibson Dove.

  • Whats the LP hanging in the background?

  • great work!

COULD YOU TELL ME WHAT STRUM PATTERN ( UP / DOWN) YOU ARE USING?

    thanks a lot!

  • Come on, come on down sweet virginia

Come on, honey child, i beg of you

Come on, come on down you got it in you

You got to scrape that $h!+ right off your shoe

  • @tunahound I guess I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue. (There are probably a handful of people old enough to get that joke.)

  • @privettricker surely you cant be serious

  • Fantastic!

  • this is my favorite song of this album, which is truly great, and i tried to play this off the record and it wasn't sounding right. I'm kinda still starting out on guitar and this video helped me a lot thanks.

  • I just started playing a little while ago and I've watched a lot of video on u tube, I gotta say yours are very well done. I'm a BIG! Stones fan and your video's are by far the best for learning. Just wanted to say thanks, Don't know if you teach but if you don't you should.

  • This kicks ass!

  • 1 a very well ,good man

  • i have the same capo!!!!!!!

  • Wow, I don't understand why you don't have more views...This is really awesome.

  • can you do a little video showing the embellishments? if not thats cool ill try to learn off of this one and thanks for the great videos

  • How long have you been playing guitar bro I just started to play like 8 months under my belt I originally wanted to play Bass but just learned the guitar instead I love it ... This kicks ass.

  • Thank you so much for posting this, now i know how to play such a great song. Thanks again.

  • I just wanted to say hello and thank you for your postings. I know a lot of chords but never put them together except for the most basic songs. I have a strat and an Ibanez acoustic that have been lonely for far too long. Thanks to you I have them out again. I hope you have a great vacation and look forward to future posts. You can count me as a friend

  • great songs, nice picking, and beautiful guitars...you run your acoustics thru the

Marshall amp..!!!...I saw Mr. Lightfoot this past April in Montreal(my 4th) and I

noticed he was running his Gibson 12..and his Martin thru an old Fender electric

guitar amp..and I asked the soundman..and he said..." yeah Mr.Lightfoot likes it that way.!!..Love in Vain...is a really cool guitar song...thanks for all the songs and

    info...R.

  • thanksfinbar eng uk

  • I challenged a friend of mine to play this song at one of his live shows- he agreed if I played with him and sing back up-

You've just rescued me from a huge embarrassment-

Gold rings on ya- as Keith would say!

  • love the demos mate. im looking for a lesson on the track 'i aint lying' from the 'exile demos' ? sure a fellow stones fan will know the one. love mick taylors blinding lead. its on youtube but its of very poor quality. i am a n ameteur so cant figure it out though i think its in the key of A. need this to get to the next level man. thanks

  • spot on man

  • Really great. Thanks for sharing!

  • Hey, great job. What chords were you playing?

  • The only chords are G (and a G7), D, C, and A7.

There are a few embellishments along the way, but you can get by with just those chords.

  • this is great! specifically the gf has made a little deal so thanks for helping a brotha out. seriously though, your videos are some of the very best on youtube. keep up the awesome work!

  • It's the guitar players' code: If you can share knowledge that will get another player laid, then by all means, share that knowledge.

  • @privettricker Perfect reply! ;)

  • @privettricker love you dude

  • @akv3 I totally agree. You, @privettricker, are THE best guitar-player on youtube, and, trust me, i have seen a lot! You are the only one who can play a song identical to the record. Just awsome! :)

  • nice job great sound is that a hummingbird?

  • It's a Dove. Hummingbird is mahogany back/sides and the Dove is maple. The Dove is a bit brighter sounding.

  • epiphone or gibson? i have a epiphone ej200 and the sound is beutifull

  • That's a Gibson. I've never owned an Epi, though I hear they're wonderful guitars.

  • @privettricker

My kid has an Epi acoustic. It's a great guitar. Frankly, I didn't expect it to sound as good as it does. Plays well, too!! About $370. ( we have about 25 axes) You on facebook??

  • That is one sweet, sweet sounding guitar you got there ; )
