hey is the graphite bo staff that you have for actual fighting? im new to weapons in martial arts and im thinking about getting a bo staff. i went to the link you put up and it said for "competition" does that mean its for competitive fighting or just competitions as in what looks the best? also, should i get a wood staff too?
Hi, can u tell me which bo do you use? I'm looking for a 2 piece bo like you have which is thinner at the ends. Is your bo a graphite bo which is red an blue? Is it thinner at the ends? Pls give me a link which bo you use, thank you! Your vids are great!
@Spasti01 It's graphinte. I got it as a prepackaged deal with other gear back when I joined a branch of ATA tkd, but I think this is the exact same one I got. Hope this link helps, thx for watching :)
@TrueHealthUSANA that length is actually one of the more common standard lengths. The closest to your height you can get it, the better. So the 5'6" are perfect for you.
i think you might be confusing traditional kung fu with modern wushu when youre reffering to the "chinese bowstaff the way it spins behind yur back...etc keeping it moving" that seems like wushu its very different
@atlmop66 Yes. It's recommended that you get one that is at least a bit longer than you are tall. This is based on fighters trying to make sure that the length of their staff would be able to shield their whole body when needed. Just about all staff technique has been developed around this ideal length. I'm 5'9'' and my staff is 6' tall. Thx for watching. Hope this helped :)
Hey what you're holding is not japanese or chinese particularly... its a tapered bo made for mainly more artistic forms and less combative styles. Even japanese and okinawa staff workers used non tapered bo staffs... except that maybe japanese used oak wood while chinese used rattan (rattan is yah a lil more flexible... but they were used by monks who meant to hurt not kill i guess). What you're doing is using a modern day tapered graphite bo staff or somethin like that. Anyway... neat post.
considering all kobudo weapons and japanese martial arts for that fact, come from okinawa 'japanese and okinawa staff workers' are the same. but you are right they are not taperd, and they used white oak for their bo staves.
great video for people that are already studying martial arts, but you shouldnt really be posting videos on how to do martial arts, you should put a disclaimer at the beginner or the end of the video and in the discription just so you dont get people coming to you saying my kid poked his friends eye out after watching your video, but great video man
i got mine from a website called legend martial arts but i think they've stopped selling them so i'd recomend looking elsewhere for one. look for graphite bo staff.
uknow greg vid y prictic ninjitsu toga kure-ryu and my sensi is teaching me bojutsu style u got a lot of years practic teakuando right? in what belt u got. I am white belt i am just staring. i just how is the style or rule idk of the belt rank i just wana know that ty
thx a lot. me and my friends have been messing around with swords made out of pvc pipe and foam (so it doesn't hurt) and i just made a bo staff! i cant wait for the look on their faces when they see how good i am because of this vid!
I like your style. What sports do you do where you learn Bojutsu?
Yeah in a real fight it is best to hold it like that. Chinese staff moves are not very usefull in a fight. Like your staff as well. Is it made of wood, or metal? How heavy is it?
I do Songahm TaeKwonDo, and that's where I learned this from.
Haha, yeah, totally agree! Mine's made out of wood, but I'm not sure about the weight though.... :/ sry. But like idk, somewhere around a little less than a pound... i'm not really sure...
