You need to realize that Kirk is above the field, towards the top portion of the stadium. The earthquake is going to shake the stadium and seem more intense the high up. To him, it probably felt stronger than a 5.6.

I live in Norman and it rumbled a few seconds then started a 30 seconds or so swaying about 4 miles from him. It shook my house and cracked my ceiling and knocked over studio lighting I have set up. I'd be freaked out if I was up in the press box. It was a 5.6 -Largest recorded earthquake in Oklahoma History.
