  • they, klf, technotronic, and some others were inovators

  • i agree their best song

  • love this video.....

  • a mi parecer la mejor de este grupo innovador!!!!

  • even without drugs the masses are sucked in to the vibe :)

  • there's just no-one around that makes proper music like this anymore...just so AWESOME!! The rythm, the words..the fun..the everything.. i'm in melancholic tears.

  • A good Song but the Playback Shows are so messed up. The Band behaves like someone burned their nuts

  • Wow, i completely forget about this song! ;o

I fucking loved this track way back in my teens in the 90's.

I also love Com'n On Strong, thats a classic! ;)

  • WOW! blast from the past

  • Way ahead of their time.. this song should have been release about right now :):) unbelieavable how great this was

  • @emko75 no, it's US that are behind!!!

Everything shut down after mid nineties

what happened to VR and holograms and all that shit?

Instead 15 yrs later all we got is some shitty HD tv THAT EVERYONE PRETENDS THEY CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE and some touch screen shit come on now don't stand for that

    Yes I appreciate the irony

I'm replying to a 9 month old message

    ; )

  • unbelievable song, even better on e

  • Embarassing seing them on Smash Hits. Fuck off Smash Hits.

  • my greatest regret in life is that I was not there in person

  • Can you believe that it was 17 years ago.

  • Very very groovy tune. Like this.

  • but i must confess - it´s so poor seeing colin "playing" the guitar although there aren´t even guitar sounds in it! *lol*

    nevertheless their best single ever!!!

  • Actually there is guitar in quite a few Shamen tunes, but it sounds like they've used some synth effects on it, or they've played sampled guitar. But it's definitely there, quite a signature Shamen sound.

  • Actually it is a guitar sound in the background the whole time in the song. Just that it is emulated.

  • great song!

  • This is the Beatmasters remix, I think it was only released on the singles and the Different drum remix album. Only thing that bothers me is why has the ULTIMATE version (Justin Robertson Lionrock Dub mix) been lost in the sands of time... there's absolutely no way of finding it.

  • I know the Different Drum LP has a Lionrock Remix, but I can't remember which particular song it is. By the way, how rare is the Japanese Version of the Different Drum LP? I have it on CD and it just totally rocks from start to finish. I'm not going to part with it, I just am curious.

  • dunno about the rarity, but my (european) version has the last track that is Justin Robertson Lionrock DUB mix of 'Boss drum' ... but what I am searching for is the original Lionrock remix with vocals, the best Shamen track ever :) if you'd be so kind to check if your japanese version has any bonus tracks... like the aforementioned remix :)

  • well...i got the justin robertson lion rock mix on the european cd-single-release of "boss drum"...:o)...

  • watch?v=tebvD-YQW98

  • Tune.

  • they performed well good with this i saw them in brighton dome in 93

  • soooo peeved they took down the official video.

    -sigh-

Still this is better than nothing.

Never got this version of Boss-Drum in Toronto.

    Only domestic "normal" CD release.

  • boss drum, stinky bum!

  • One of the best songs! I LOVE IT!

  • the crowd are avin it..frontman hasnt changed atall, just met him last weekend.

  • Wtf you tit!.

Its Smash Hits. Twaty girls waving banners all over the joint. Smash Hits was mainstream crap love.

  • its wierd but this mix of boss drum reminds me of my grandad - it was xmas and i had got a walkman(cassette!!) and the shamen remix album and i remember sitting in the back of his car listening to it watching the snow out of the car window while he was driving - good memory with a good tune :)

  • I was lucky enough to see The Shamen live at Feile in 1992...they did a brill gig !!

  • this song did not arrive in the states until 1993. good thing that it did, it was a great dance hit and we loved it.

  • I have the album Different Drum. It's pretty damn solid from start to finish. I would put it in a Top 100 albums ever recorded. I don't have the original Boss Drum album, though. I want to compare the two.

  • In my opinion their best song. Anyone has the video for this?

  • I think I may have the video I ripped from an old Chart Show - it'll not be the full vid, obviously - the Chart Show tended to cut off the end of the vid quite early. If I have it, I'll post it up in a few weeks.

  • Cheers mate. That would be great!

  • The vid is now online.

  • Seen and commented. You rock, man! Thanks a lot.

  • Still Rocks!

  • The year is 1992. I was at this SH Poll Winners Party and had an utterly brilliant time.

  • Thanks for the year, Dizzybees - I'll change the text.

  • I don't suppose you've got any more videos from that show?

  • I'm not sure. I have about half a dozen tracks from Smash Hits Poll Winner's Parties, but they're possibly from different years. Keep popping in to view my vids - I'll try to get them all online just after Christmas.

  • So cool....ahem...back then I mean.....its all I played on my walkman for ages that year!!

  • what was the name of the band where two guys play electronic drums like crazy and the song that was #1 dance hit in europe?

  • that was a danish group, i think their name was "Safari Duo". If you ask me, they suck...

  • yes! thats it...its been driving me crazy. its "safri duo" actually. but thank you.

  • Do you mean Safri Duo?

  • I'm gonna guess 1993. Good stuff!
