Hello! I was curious how well this limited edition would work as a clean pedal platform that would sometimes play at lower home volumes. I ask this because I've heard the speaker is "less efficient". Is this a good middle groudn between a PRRI and the standard DRRI model? Thanks!
I have posted comments about your ViDs before, but I must reiterate that I look for Pro Guitar Shop ViDs FIRST everytime I am reviewing a piece of gear now. I personally think that you guys are the GOLD Standard of ViD gear reviews!
What did you do around 4:00 ? Your hand moved but the controls and pickup selector seemed to remain the same. Also - is there a master volume or does "tube overdrive" require a setting of 10? I think the levels must have been very carefully leveled for this video. Did not seem like real world levels. It would help to know what kind of actual dB levels you're putting out at each setting.
@jerseystringer The pickup switch went from bridge to a coil split setting, hence the drastic change in tone. Not sure what you mean by 'real world levels' but what you see on the knobs is what you get. We record these demos just as any studio or live venue would but no compression or post effects are added to fool anyone. Thanks for watching,
@UKToneKing It'll be a little too loud for bedroom use if you want natural break up. But so will the princeton for strictly bedroom use. Get the deluxe and use an overdrive pedal. I use an OCD with mine and it's pretty close to the real thing
Andy I see your a finger picker like myself, when this amp is on 4, what would the hot rod deluxe be on to match that volume, just so I can get an idea, thinking of selling th hrdx and getting one of these
Just got one. It's fantastic, except for the vibrato which emits a static ticking noise in time with the effect when it's engaged and you're not playing the guitar.
According to Fender: "The ticking is normal. There is a photo resistor in the vibrato circuit. It’s basically a light bulb that turns on and off... "
But I wish I'd known because, to me, it's a pretty unacceptable noise to have as 'normal' when paying so much. Fender should at least advise about this on the product page.
it would be inaccurate to say that it has 6v6 overdrive considering that majority of the breakup doesn't come from the power section, it comes from the preamp section. the power section adds very little breakup.
This dude(amp, and andy 2:)) sounds good, how loud will it get before it breaks up? I really am trying to scope out an amp mainly for cleans, but I want the overdriven sounds too.
@ProGuitarShopDemos Can you please do demos of both the Fender Twin Reverb and Super Reverb that you carry? I know you have Deluxe and Princeton Reverb demos but I'd really like to see the Twin Reverb (the 212 one) and Super Reverb! Keep making great videos!!!!
Other than size and power, how would you guys say this differs from the twin reverb reissue? Ive been looking into finally getting a twin reverb but maybe this is all i need right now.
Weird. On the pictures at proguitarshop the vinyl seems almost brown (maybe because of the red background?), while everywhere else it really appears to be wine red, which I think looks silly. Does anyone know what it really looks like?
@pergrenerfors It's a Fender Custom Shop Total Tone 57 Stratocaster Relic to be exact. We demoed the Surf Green model with the same specs as this black one. Thanks for watching!
@ProGuitarShopDemos where are the tone purists who would argue with PGS about black total tone 57 strat absorbing more solar rays / heat than the surf green model, therefore sounding "brighter"?
@ProGuitarShopDemos Is this AVRI 52 tele andy's personal guitar? it shows up on a lot of the amp demos. also, is it mostly stock? it seems like its got the joe barden saddles?
@pergrenerfors I recently bought a 56 heavy relic swamp ash Strat in Germany and loved it so much more than the Gilmour Black Strat. You need to compare them - very different guitars and the Gilmour Strat has a very thin neck and is lacking that vintage and open tone. Not my pair of shoes, though I really love Gilmour. I changed the pickups to Kloppmann ST50's and it really sounds incredible like an old Strat now. New Fender pickups are just harsh and bright in my opinion.
Problem with these old-school Fender amps - it's tough to deal with an amp with no master volume and a way to switch between clean and dirt. You're too much at the mercy of the size of the room and other factors to dial in your sound. My .02
So Leo Fender called the pitch vibrato on his guitars a "tremolo", and called the tremolo built into his amps "vibrato"? WTF? haha. Nomenclature aside, he sure knew what he was doing. That thing sounds fantastic.
@jackbetts1994 So true. Although it must be said that that is a '52 reissue tele and a special addition deluxe reverb reissue which aren't necessarily banging pots and pans together.
