the main defining difference between mortars and howizters are as follows:

1. Mortars are typically made for shorter ranges than similar sized artillery

2. Mortars are never rifled, they are fin stabalized.

3. Mortars are never made to be fired at less than 45 degrees

4. Howitzers are never muzzle loaded, though mortars can be breech or muzzle loaded .

Mortars ARE artillery. the only real difference between name designations of guns, howitzers, and mortars are the angles of trajectory at which they are fired.

It's still firing at too high a trajectory to be called a howitzer. You can see the way the back of the barrel plants into the ground. howitzers dont do that
