I was on the bus that day and the coach ended up where it did as a result of directions given by a police officer. The reactions by band members was as a result of the treatment at the hands of local residents and so called even handed police officers. Why do I say this? According to various sources the total fertility rate now in Northern Ireland is 1.74 births per woman of child bearing age ( 2.1 is considered replacement level). Unfortunately I could not find birth rates broken down by religion, but most likely the birth rate is even lower than 1.74 among Protestants.
