So, I have extremely curly& thick hair. I'm mixed with white Spanish and black so think really tight tight curls. The middle of my hair is so thick & the nappiest part. I was suggested to use this instead of a relaxer due to the coarseness of my hair. Im wanting straight hair as a end result. Suggestions?? Thank you!
@12jamiekelly With this product it will loosen the coarseness of your hair. If you leave it on long enough it will straighten your hair. Also, once you apply the product, you can blow dry and flat iron your hair, which will make it straight. The softener can make your hair curly but also straight.
Hey! Great video. I decided to get JFM after watching this video a couple of times. However, I'm really worried. My hair is a 3c/4a mix and it is virgin. I have not relaxed it since September 2008. I found that some people have ended up with straightened hair even after using it for the correct amount of time. I really would like to try a texturizer, I was originally going to do a texlaxer but due to the fear of leaving it on too long, I went with a texturizer. What do you suggest I do :(
@xMika03 Thanks so much. When you apply a softener, texlaxer, texturizer you have to watch what your hair is doing. If you see it curling up then its time to take it out. I think a lot of people dont check that and they end up having it end for too long and their hair becomes straightened. You should test a section of your hair in the very back of your head to see what the product does to it. :)
@icyunvme0912 thanks! I did this earlier today and it looked good wet...but when it's airrdried it just sticks up. :/ how long do you suggest I wait to apply this again? I ended up not having enough for the middle section of my hair.
@xMika03 I would wait at least four weeks. You dont want to over process the hair. Try purchasing some products that is for texturized hair. You have to keep your hair moisturized. :)
Natural.. Is natural.. putting a chemical makes it no longer ...natural. now Curly... that's a word that I think a lot of people can use. Wavy too. A hairstyle is just a hairstyle but once you say your relaxed or natural it says that you are committing to keeping your hair in a certain state regardless of how "hard or easy" YOU feel it is to maintain
O and you can keep the oil Sears twists in when you wear your half wigs too! Just take out a bit of hair in the front to style with your wig... I LOVE wigs as a protective style!
@diamondsweetful one way I have noticed that my hair stays moisturizer is that i deep condition... for like a whole day, detangle and section into twists ,rinse w/twists still in ,then put a leave in and seal with an oil. It sounds crazy but I would co-wash or use a shampoo with mild sulfates... [like with ONLY sodium laurETH sulfates] then deep condition,I wear a Scarf/turban/or Beanie with a showercap or platic bag underneath until next day or I feel to style my hair . Hope this helps :)
Thanks, I am licensed and have been for 10yrs. I saw some of the comments and they need to stop. lol. #1 rule in self education always confirm info...It's about helping one another and I Thank and Applaud you! keep doing whatcha doing I appreciate it!
OMG... thanks for this vid! I never would a thought to use this product. I keep trying to go natural but my hair tangles sooooo bad that I always end up relaxing again. I'm going to try this and the eco custard..whew I'm happy I almost gave up on the natural!
@mthompsonlloyd U r welcome Babes. FYI this product does have a chemical in it that is similar to whats in a relaxer. If you r trying to be 100% natural (chemical free) then I wouldnt recommend using this product! :)
@TheJonathanMontuma I think it will curl the non relaxed hair more than the relaxed hair. I had the same issue when I first used the product. It curled my ends a little and the rest of my hair was curled a lot. :)
hi was your hair blow dryed........what hair type are u......and how did u get your hair sooo curly..i watch a lot of theses and no one else has curls like you...thankyou
@livelaughlove4everr1 Before I put the softener in I wore my hair out. So I blow dryed and flat ironed it. I believe I am a 3C. My hair gets curly like this because I have not had a relaxer in for about 2 yrs and this is the way my hair gets. I come from a mixed family as well!!! :)
@mzallstar1234567 a texturizer is a mild perm... i have 4a and 4b hair.. THICK and curls the size of a pencil point; the only time it "Tangles" is when i leave it high and dry and dont take care of it.... aka not moisturizing it... use youtube as a tool for enlightenment please,,, there are tons of tons of options to take care of your hair W/O chemicals PERIOD
@hottafire10 but how,i haven't permed my hair for 4 months and my roots has grown like hell, my hair is dry, even when i put lotion in it,i dont wear my hair out when i go out,i wear a half wig b/ c of this messed up Colorado dry weather,my ends are dry,
lotta new growth mama lol but ur hair is gorgeous just the way it is but i know what u mean i only get texturizers beacause my hair without one is really curly and it tangles quickly! it was either this or a perm so i chose this cause i have never gotten a perm and ive heard it damages hair and takes it out
@icyunvme0912 oh kool cause my hair curly or real soft i would say but i have never grew it out but what time to really tell but the reason why I ask though be cause i think im want to where my hair like an luster s curl type deal but with the scurl when i see it lool matted to there heads so im looking for other option but idk just doing research your video was very insight even though i am a man but thanks :)
@icyunvme0912 oh ok kool im going to have to do more research cause i want to get a good but i like the way this just for me make the hair look thanks :)
Hi, My hair is naturally Fizzy/Curly hair, which I hate so much. I am a mixture of 3a/b/c hair type and I am white/Caucasian. Will it work on Causcasian hair? Thanks
@Jmike0907 It doesn't burn for me and I scratch my scalp a lot 2. I guess it depends on how sensitive your scalp is. If you are still cautious about using the product on your bare scalp try oiling your scalp with oil sheen or vaseline. Hope this helped. :)
you comb yours through and it's not straight? i put in a texturizer about 5 weeks ago and quickly washed it out bc i didn't want it to be straight at the time...lol...i'm kinda wanting it to be straight...but not bone straight. should i just do what you do?
@Chasing4eva The softener is not technically used to straighten the hair. It is to soften your natural curl pattern. The softener can be used as a mild relaxer and straighten the hair. You will have to leave it in longer than 5 mins for your hair to straighten. Hope this helped ;)
so if you want your hair to be curly when texturized, and you happen to walk in the hairdressers with it pre-straightened, will it NOT come out curly even if you just smooth it out???
so......just a question if you texturize your hair and thats basically a relaxer how is it natural? i mean i was told texturizing your hair means your not completely natural so i was just wondering
@BoOkWoRmCuTiE1224 My hair was natural before I put the softener in. Yes its true you are not completely natural once you do this. I never wanted to be completely natural that's why I put the softener in.
OMG!! i dnt mean to be rude but what ur doing there is wrong....even though the texture softner that ur using doesn't say this on the box it is a relaxer.... if u check on the back of the box u"l see that it has one of the active ingredients is calcium hydroxide.... this is the same as the active ingredient in a relaxer....im not natural and im not tryin to ridicule u any way but i just want u to be cautious....and since this is just a milder form of a relaxer dnt re-apply to ur ends!!
@prettyladysadie Thanks for letting me know. I already know what a texture softener is and that it contains calcium hydroxide. I don't apply to my ends all the time. I have done it twice and that's cause my hair is 90% natural. I have been using this product for a long time and know what it does. Thanks so much though. ;)
this might be a nice alternative to a full on relaxer. Is this just a very very very mild relaxer? Do you know what chemical is in it to soften the hair??
hayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy i was waiting for this especially after seeing moms results:) and yessss 2years im so proud of you:) xoxoxo u actually inspired me to start telaxing my hair during my natural/healthy hair care journey! i did my first one last week omg...wow my hair is super soft...thick/texture, manageable, and much longer :) i love ya! but i plan on to post telax/stretch them every 4-6 months to see how that goes...or maybe whenever needed:) how about you?
@lmonique314 I do really like the softener. It allows me to manage my hair better. Im glad you are loving what it did to your hair. Yea I usually stretch 6-10 months. i really don't need it too often. I did it this time cause I had a lot of new growth and it was kind of difficult to manage. :D
@icyunvme0912 okk. :) it got combed thru alot but dere's some type of texture here n there. maybe dere will b a way to define it later hoopefully or revert a little
