  • everybody seems to think he invented this style. don't get me wrong he's amazing!! but what about Michael Hedges and Preston reed? they were more the forefathers weren't they?

  • We used to see him every year at "Music Live" at the NEC - he'd regularly chat with my sister with a little running joke of him tryin to get her to "fetch a cup of tea for a poor old man" - quite a character and a truly unique talent.

  • This is my fave Eric Roche performance. Magnificent, please buy some music from his website if you can afford it.

  • I've got that book, I don't think anyone could play this anything like eric though because he is just so unique, we can merely take his inspiration and try to create something only half as good, this is the kind of thing that only the person who wrote it can play it how it should be played

  • @alcoholya

There are tabs in his book "the acoustic guitar bible"

  • tab? fuck it, I'd never figure it out.

  • must be something with the name Eric and Prodigy

  • I was lucky enough to see Eric live. He kept apologising for 'not being upto par' on his playing due to his treatment. He was phenominal and he still left everyone open mouthed and also was a really funny, nice guy. A real inspiration!

  • INCREDIBLE !! <3 x

  • from nearly every single comment anyone can see that he is a modest and truly brilliant guitarist and an inspiring teacher. R.I.P

  • what a musician the best thank you eric for making a difference in peoples lives and making people happy you are a true legend rest in peace your memory lives on... hope your rocking them up in heaven god bless you............

  • I miss his teachings big time :-(

Fantastic Musician and above all a great Human Being, R.I.P. mate!! another one joining the great gig in the sky.

  • I notice that he has three cables coming out of his guitar. Is it that he needs the extra pickups to capture all the percussive stuff properly? And maybe get the relative volumes correct for each section, so that the "drums" aren't too loud or soft compared to the other parts...

  • think so, i read somewhere else on youtube hes got quite a complicated arrangement of pickups

  • I want that rig, and his guitar : )

  • You had to see Eric live it was amazing I met him several years ago he was such a nice guy sympathetic I was gutted when he died a lovely man another great talent gone!

  • He lived in my hometown for ages.... damn...

  • great piece... many musicians happen to die very young..

  • What the hell, he's dead??? I was taught by this guy at LMS in Wapping about 5 or so years ago. I can't believe he's dead, he was a great inspiration to all who were taught guitar whilst had the pleasure of working with him.

  • @mechahalcon yeah cancer i think he was 32, i have his acoustic guitar bible with the tab for this song in it!!!now theres a challenge

  • @mechahalcon Yeah, it's a real kick in the nuts, although that wouldn't be as bad.

  • only just heard of this guy, and hes dead!? hes such a talented guitar player. how famous did he get before he died? such a waste. he doesnt look that old.

  • Same for me. And Michael Hedges! Boy am I unlucky

  • Nice piece! Five big fat stars from the Derek! 5*****

  • This is amazing.

  • brilliant RIP eric ur a legend

  • THe "best"... we all miss Eric..

  • the best irish fingerstyle guitarist there ever was

  • I see alot of Michael Hedges' "Arrowhead" in this song. Anyone else familiar with that tune?

  • @ericdaft

Arrowhead is a fabulous tune by Michael. I was fortunate enough to see him debut Arrowhead, Java Man, and Shell Shock Venus at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco just two months before his death. He seemed to be introducing his audience to a lot of material that would appear on his next album "Torched". This is the first I've heard of Eric, but I am definitely going to check out more. It's too bad that we seem to lose the good ones early.

  • this is a great version of this:

  • The best finger-style guitarist of all time.

Died at the age of 38 from throat cancer.

    And he didn't deserve it.

He was one of the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet.

  • I would like to see more program on this DVD!!!!

    He's my favorite player,teacher,and performer!!!

Incredible play,he should have been worthing.......

  • I remember seeing eric live in concert and this song particularly stood out for me. Apparently when he took his driving test in Ireland all you had to do to pass was a hill start and a 3 point turn...his liscence was under EU regulations so apparently could be used in any European country. Upon arriving in England he encountered a roundabout for the first time. He joked that he had to camp in the middle of the roundabout for a number of days before he could figure it out. hence the song name.

  • I was priveledged to work with Eric before he bacam ill and I can only say he was the gracious artist I've ever worked with.

Jan and I miss you still and listen often to the tracks and our own video from Ringstead.

    To when we meet again.

    Love & peace,

    Tom Hunter UK.

  • superb

  • I was privileged enough to meet this man in 2002. An awesome musician and guitarist and I really can find the words to do him justice.

    R.I.P Eric Roche

  • I met him a couple of times here in England - what was great was he was so talented and was also such a lovely fella

haha - his requests that we get "a poor old man a nice cup of tea - and maybe some cake too" haha

  • saw him a couple of years back then a week later he came to my school, was amazing both times.

  • such a massive talent thankfully his legacy

    can be enjoyed by all

    an inspiration to all musos

would have enjoyed a beer or two with

    nice one man

  • wow

  • what an awesome man, saw him about 5 years ago at Music Live, my first introduction to this style, sadly no longer with us but would like to think he'd be proud of his pupil Newton Faulkner bringing percussive playing into the limelight, who Eric taught at ACM in about 2004

  • This man was stunning, He left a massive hole in the music world when he lost his battle with cancer. Check out his cd's

  • simplelly .......... I.M.P.R.E.S.S.I.V.E.

  • The reason I started doing the things I do! He dropped my jaw at Music live 4 years ago and I haven't looked back :)

  • What an inspiration! I much prefer his own material to his covers. The acoustic scene owes alot to this man taught many of my current idols!

  • wow

  • that is really beautiful
