  • love the wheels and gauges...scoop/flames, not so much

  • Looks good but i would paint all the chrome around the windows and tops.

  • What size tires are you running?

  • What size tires are you running?

  • Dude, I envy your ride. Everything is perfect!

  • What transmission are you using?

  • @pimpinken1234 richmond 6 speed

  • nice trans am

  • That's beast!! Best looking trans am

  • sweet ride man ! happy driving !

    regards : from dubai

  • Great job! the graphics are awesome btw

  • Not to be rude, Great car and all, but why change the gauges?

  • My dad has a 78 trans am exact replica of the bandit and in mint condition and it looks better but ur would ilwin in a race

  • Great but i would get rid of the chrome moldings

  • @1977BanditTransAM the scoop was just a temporary fix, the original shaker in back on it now, and, at the time, i paid $1100 for each rear 18x12. the front are 18x10's

  • nice car ,but the scoop kills it

  • I see a trunk load of money you've spent. That car is very bad ass.

  • Very nice.

  • @silvercobra78 what rims are those? where did you get them and what's the size? i have a WS6 Trans Am, i've been wanting those rims but can't ever find them anywhere. thank you!

  • @customcraze65 The rims are 18x10 in the front and 18x12 in the rear. I ordered them from year one in the custom sizes i wanted. They only come in gold and polished, so i contacted US Wheel ( the actual manufacturer ) and had them change the color from gold to black. I was the first and only person to have these wheels in black at that time. So, if you want them, call year one and if you cant get the color in the size you want, call US Wheel AFTER you have placed the order with year one.

  • @silvercobra78 thank you for the information! how much did the wheels cost you? before tires and all?

  • @customcraze65 the 18x10 wheels are $690 and the 18x12 wheels are $1100

  • Silvercobra78 ..... Hey man I have a 78 trans am Ur car is sick ......I made some changes on the motor and is kicking pretty good poneys ..but anyways ... Quick ? What type of pipes u using on Ur ride and flows ... ??? Cuz idk what to use on my ride man .... Cuz u have to have a perfect sound

  • @mixedthugg I custom made my headers from scratch with full 3 inch exhaust and x pipe. Magnaflow 3 inch in and out mufflers.

  • i like what you've done but you should get the shaker back on there :)

  • @stoo1974 You will be happy to know that the shaker is back on there. It took me a while to fab a pan to hold it, but it is back on there.

  • What rims are those??? Cause I want to get them for my trans am

  • @juniorAoK I special ordered them from year one. 18x10 front and 18x12 rear. I had US Wheel (the maker) change the color from gold to black

  • It IS a 400! Thought it sounded familiar. I have one in a 78 Formula. Still have lots to do, but working on it! Did you build the engine yourself or did you have it done? I have been told that one has to be careful not to go too wild with a 400 Pontiac. Any advice? Thanks

  • @Skidhippy A friend and i built this 400 a few years ago. You do have to be careful, you can go 60 over but thats pushing it. Now there is a lot more upgrade for pontiac engines that were not available when this one was built. I love pontiac engines, especially the head design, but i don't like the valley pans. Let me know if you have anymore questions, thanks.

  • @silvercobra78 Yeah, I wouldn't swap that Pontiac engine for anything. The torque, even stock, ist phenomenal. I don't want to go too wild, anyway. No nitrous, but was toying with the idea of a supercharger. However, since I am now overseas with the car, parts are not that easy to come by. I've had the car for years, and only now am finally able to start doing some stuff with it. How do you think a Edelbrock 800cfm Perfomer with a Performer RPM intake, and a Lunati 60902LK would match up? Thanks

  • @Skidhippy Are you planning to use the factory heads? I used Edelbrock RPM heads, intake, and a Thunder Series AVS 800cfm carb. I had to tune the carb by changing out the jets and metering rods. Out of the box, it was running rich and stutter when floored. That cam should be fine to use. I plan to build my 455 pontiac with a blower for my 69 Judge GTO one day.

  • @silvercobra78 Would love to use the Edelbrock RPM heads too, but right now a bit tight for the budget. So factory heads it is. Heads will be an upgrade for later. Considered the Thunder carb, but again a bit pricey right now, I think the performer will do fine for now. Better than the leaky old Q-jet. Thought about rebuilding it, but like Edelbrocks better. The bottom end is ok for now with these mild upgrades. I don't want to go overboard without redoing the bottom end, but that's gotta wait.

  • @silvercobra78 Do you know where I could get a decent dash cover shipped from? The original dash top was cracked already when I bought the car, from sitting in the sun all those years. But I don't know where I could get one that isn't going to cost me a fortune. Thanks. Btw. Like the Phantom gauges. Too bad I can't get a Phantom speedometer in Kph. (Europe!) Might have to go with an Ultra Light.

  • @Skidhippy I got my dash recovered from Just Dashes. I think they offer new ones too. You might also want to try Classic Industries, Ames Performance, National Parts Depot, and Year One.

  • @Skidhippy If you need any original parts, i have several parts car, lots of trans am parts, and a friend with a whole junk yard of nothing but trans ams, firebirds and camaros.

  • @silvercobra78 thanks, I'll keep in touch.

  • hell of a great job! looks and sounds fantastic! what hedders are you using?

  • @barryhorne10 i had to custom make my headers.

  • JUST LEAVE IT ORIGIONAL! to nice of a car to MEXImize! well it didnt come special but i do love ur magnaflows u have on

  • my dream car. very beautiful car. I love it! thanks for sharing this video!

  • For some reason I used to hate this car I was a Fool

  • Glad you went back to the Original hood scoop. You really did a nice job on this car. This may be one of the best I've ever seen. Just fabulous!

  • if I could drive it only a few miles........I´m spanish and I live in love of american old muscle cars, specially trans ams

  • I bought a 1978 trans am with t tops with 350 not the original so now we are rebuilding the 400. but those wheels are pricy so that's why we will get them after we finish restoring the car completely.

  • Amazing trans am , congratulations !!! i would get rid of the t-top and rear window chrome moldings and scoop, that's all !

  • how much for this ta

  • that tachometer would NEVER get old!! haha

  • What mufflers are you using?

  • @80Ls1TA i am useing magnaflow mufflers

  • beautiful car i just think the rims ruin it

  • WOW!! First off thank you for sharing the car with us via video. The only thing I didnt care for was what you mentioned, and thats the scoop! Im glad youre gonna make it look like the original!! Also, do you mind telling me how did you get those wheels to fit in that width!!!!! 10inch on front and 12 on back!! WOW!! Awesome car my friend!!

  • @surf403 glad you like it. I did get the original scoop back on it, check out my other videos of me and my car at the bandit run 2011. As far as the wheels, the front 18x10 fit fine just be sure to order the correct back spacing, and the rear was mini tubbed to fit the 18x12 with a narrowed custom 4 link rear end. I narrowed the rear end to get that deep dish look on the back. i will post another updated walk around video on here soon.

  • @silvercobra78 Beauty for sure but i dont think 790 h.p especially from a 400 ,ive owned lots of 78 t/a s back in the day and i loved them especially w72,4 speed,ws6.

  • @camirocz I think he runs nitrous....could be he's pushing a few ponies... :)

  • wow what a motor, if mine comes out half as nice i'll be happy Great Year One wheels aswell

  • wow what a motor, if mine comes out half as nice i'll be happy

  • These wheels are sick.

  • really nice ride. how wide are the rear tires? thanks

  • @tuifili the rear tires are almost 14 inches wide

  • jizz

  • @silvercobra78 well nice car man i have a 78 too and shes a monster i have a blower too

  • @MrSupermac1 sweeet!

  • wer did u get thos decals at

  • @MrSupermac1 There arn't any decals, they are air brushed

  • @silvercobra78 how much for the cars in the back?

  • @doinurmom517 most in the background are already sold, but i still have a 1970 mustang coupe, 429 NOS 9in rear $7500, a 1968 thunderbird with a 429 thunderjet all original, $9000

  • Love the year one rims!!!!!! Nice Car!!!!

  • It's a beauty. How much does it cost to mini tub it?

  • @gerardop0119 it cost me about $800 to mini tub it

  • @silvercobra78 hey, im looking into getting a trans am in this era, i was wondering how much did the instrument cluster cost you, where did you get it, and price of instillation. this car is the definition of badass

  • @80sKeezy I did all installations myself. I got the swirl dash panel from year one, but i had to enlarge the speedo and tach holes to get the 5in gauges to fit. I overlayed that new panel over the original, cut and trimmed where needed and let the gauges hold the two panels together. It made the install easier. I bought the autometer gauges from summit with their gauge wireing harness, that way i could assemble it on the workbend and then install it.

  • Well Done!! A beautiful car!

  • did you have to mini tub it to get the 18x12 wheels in the rear by the way sick ride

  • @motifman00 yeah i mini tubed the rear, narrowed the rear seat, and put in a 4 link.

  • :') it, it's beautiful

  • when you revved it up to 3000 thats about how many gallons i jizzed

  • awesome. 2 thumbs up

  • if you need anything else original, i have 3 parts cars, 1 front sub frame seperate, and a friend with a junk yard full of the cars.

  • wow you must really love that car

  • man, nice trans am, but shame on you... rev it up like a man, that trans am is hungry for being rev it up only until 3000rpm... rev it up soo we can hear the beast...

  • @yonutfilip :) i'll do better next time, another video coming soon, just finished the shaker mods.

  • I have a question, I'm getting a 78 Trans Am and it's coming with a normal cowl hood, I want to put a shaker on it but I don't know which engine will be in it, it has a 400, but he's going ot let a 455 go with it. Will the same shaker assembly work for both engines? And also, is it possible to just have a shaker breather on top of any air cleaner, like if I just get a Edelbrock breather, can I just put the shaker on top of that without problem?

  • @weaverracing96 if you are using the stock intake manifold then the shaker will work with either motor, but you have to have the breather pan that holds the shaker scoop. The only way the shaker will work is with a base pan made for a shaker. If there is an aftermarket intake, let me know, i'll tell you how to fix it. Let me know if i can help in any way, i love to see theses cars on the road.

  • @silvercobra78 Appreciate it, I posted the question on Yahoo answers, and I've been hearing that too, but I'm glad it'll work with a 400 or 455 the same way. I've heard that an Edelbrock performer intake and Edelbrock carbuerator wont throw it off any either, but anything over an Edelbrock perf. intake, and if I have a Holley Carb or whatever, will cause the shaker to not work. Appreciate all the help I'm getting from T/A people.

  • @weaverracing96 well.......i used a edelbrock rpm performance intake, edelbrock carb w/ electric choke, with a spacer, and still have the shaker on if. However, i bought an aftermarket drop pan and modified it to fit the carb with electric choke. It is a close fit and took a lot of time to fit up, but it can be done.

  • @silvercobra78 do you do all the body work of does some one else do it? do you you do the mechanics or does some one else do it? what do you specialize in auto body of mechanics wow 7 years and that much money i thank god im not married

  • @FARTNOISE100 I specialize in trans ams and GM muscle cars in general. I do all my mechanical, electrical, fabrication, and a little body work. I am trying to learn more from my guy.

  • @silvercobra78 thats deep im barely getting out of lincoln tech in feb im really looking foward to doing the same. i would sell my soul even my kids(joke) for a chevelle anything in between 69 and 72 my father had a 71 in the late 70's the city towed it away because he left it on the street for to long time a month all because of a gear box

  • @FARTNOISE100 I specialize in trans ams and GM muscle cars in general. I do all my mechanical, electrical, fabrication, and a little body work. I am trying to learn more from my paint and body guy.

  • @tripla0 The only thing original is the block, and it is bored 60 over. High performance cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM heads. roller rockers, Edelbrock RPM high rise intake, MARCH pulley system, custom made headers, etc. etc. I could go on and on..... and the scoop, i got it off ebay.....if you want more info, i'd be more than happy to tell you, just let me know where to email the book..... And i used a Quick Time drag racing bell houseing made for a pontiac from summit, bolted right up.

  • @silvercobra78 question what did you have to do to fit the rear deep dish rims what diff is on there and did you do any frame or suspension twicks

  • @FARTNOISE100 I mini tubed the rear fender wells, installed a 4 link rear suspension with a custom rear end modeled after a 9 inch. Fully adjustable coil overs front and rear, pro-touring sub frame in front. Contact Detroit Speed (DSE), they have the best stuff on the market.

  • @silvercobra78 thanks i have a 79 firebird i want to get rid of the unibody because its rusted it spread like notebook paper when i lift it from the rear unibody frame im going to look at DSE thanks again very helpful

  • @FARTNOISE100

if you need anything else original, i have 3 parts cars, 1 front sub frame seperate, and a friend with a junk yard full of the cars

  • @silvercobra78 i don't think i want to go original because i been reading up on rack n pinions for better handling but i would like to know where this junk yard is at once again thank you

  • @FARTNOISE100 rack n pinion is the way to go, i did....... the junk yard is in Wallace SC

  • @silvercobra78 how much have you invested in your car so far i looked at dse and wow im in the right direction. south carolina is a long drive from chicago

  • @FARTNOISE100 I have about 80G in it. over about 7 years

  • dude that is a sexy fuckin car nice work

  • @lowrider121990 thanx

  • looks like the restoreamusclecar site has the same hood bird, same tail "Trans Am" in flames as your car

  • @quadmudrider08 Hell no, this is my own custom design and airbrush work.

  • if you dont mind me asking what was the cost/

  • @callrick1914 about $3600, but you can get them staight from year one now. They copied my idea. I had the only ones ever made at the time according to US Wheel, the actual makers of the wheels.

  • where did u get rims like that

  • @callrick1914 i had the custom made by the same company that makes the year one wheels

  • Like the Trans Am on the back, well cool, nice exhaust note too

  • amazing !!!

  • U OWN MY DREAM CAR! icant stop watching this awesome 2nd generation trans am, she sound,s and look,s awesome ,,absolute perfection, congrats!!!!!

  • @stratcat70 glad u like it. I am working on the scoop base now, i will post more videos when i finish it. Ill try to get by buddy to film me drivin down the road.

  • i was saying that go to restoreamusclecar site - go to 'completed restos" go to the fourth page, and the Firebird should be the 3rd one from the top of the page, and it look like yours, sorry for the misunderstanding.

  • i swear i have seen the exact same thing on the "Restore A Muscle Car" sight, is it the same trans am? or is that built yourself

  • @quadmudrider08 Really? i have not seen it, i built this one myself, from the ground up.

  • TOTALLY AWSOME!! BEST IVE SEEN ON HERE, CAN I BUY IT?

  • @stratcat70 thanks, glad to hear that you like it, but i can never sell my baby

  • Im interested on the cars behind it..could you send me your info to fishingantonio@yahoo.com

    thanks

  • beautiful

  • Is that a 78 400 block you used?

  • @samw454 it is actually a 76 block

  • thanks for the info

  • where did you get the head lights

  • @chevellenut1968 I got them from summit racing. they have an blue LED light that outlines the light when the park lights are on. It gives it a cool look when crusin through town.

  • by the way, what kind of cams did you put in that 400, i was thinking of putting a comp cams set on mine. i saw you also used edelbrock rpm heads, did you also use the edelbrock rpm intake manifold.

  • @almostdriving If i remember right, i used comp cams, and i did use an edelbrock rpm high rise intake

  • i have my own 78 ta me and my brother are working on, your ta is great, i like how you still used the original pontiac 400

  • dont listen to redstorm0003 we can see he is a dum ass with no taste that car is beautifull and i want it im in love with the tiger cage best cage ever!! hell my self i got a hell of a deal i traded my 94 Z28 convertible for a completed 79 firebird with perfect oreginal inter and new stroker and i got a 78 bandit ta no eng but new floors shaker hood new quarter panel t tops and good inter t/a's are # 1 praise to the muscle car gods

  • @chevellenut1968 Sweet

  • what kind of springs you have on her, did u lower it?

  • @demarcuswillis1 I used adjustable coil over shocks and springs on the pro-touring front frame, and also on the rear 4 link from Detroit Speed. I also used half height body bushings. All that does lower it quite a bit, and it sticks to the road like its on rails.

  • what type of mufflers are you running

  • @Matts89 Magnaflow 3 inch

  • So nice --Pontiac power !!!!! .

  • U just ruined a perfectly good trans am.

  • Why do you say that?

  • @silvercobra78 I disagree

You've done nothing but make it even better! =D

but i am just wondering... how much $ did you put into her?!

  • @gtakilla22 I lost count on the $ amount, i doesn't really mater when you are building your dream car.

  • I just love those kickass Year one Snowflake wheels nice Trans AM

  • Nice special edition wheels where did you get them??

  • I have them custom made by Year One then had US Wheel (the actual manufacturer) use blake powder coat instead of gold. They told me i had the only ones in the world at that time.

  • Thanks for the info man, just love the way your car sounds, hoping mine sounds that good once im done

  • Great 400 build. E-heads? and whats the cam specs

  • Edlebrock Performance RPM heads, have to find the cam specs for you, i built the motor about 5 years ago.

  • not a fan of the scoop but nice car!

  • I plan on putting the original one on as soon as i build a pan to hold it to the carb.

  • wow great looking 78 t/a. Just starting my build on a 78 t/a. curious about the motor, sounds great. did you put a stroker on the 400 or keep it a 400

  • i left it a 400, bored it over

  • Very nice ride!! will the front 18x10 wheels clear the factory upper and lower control arms? I am guessing you mini tubbed the rear for the 18x12s,

  • they should fit depending on the backspacing you want.

  • Only thing it should have was an shaker scoop ;)

  • I have the scoop for it, i just have to make the pan to hold it on the carb.

  • Okay:) It looks very good ;) and with the scoop it will look the way it is supposed to :P Love it with T\A's with some modifications on the engine etc, but with the original look. got 2 T\A's myself

  • Oh, and are you gonna have a Hood bird on it?

  • There is a bird on the hood, its just hard to see because of the sun glare. It matches the other flame work but with an orginal look. I have 3 other T/A's, but they are mostley for parts.

  • Are they that bad if they have to be used for parts? I think its sad to see them parted out, you see :/

  • Me too but, one is missing the front clip, the hurst edition has been hit in the rear, and the other i'll fix up later but has no t-tops

  • Got any pictures of the car(s)?

  • Yeah, do you need some parts? If don't have what you need, i have a friend who has a junk yard of only camaros, firebirds, and trans ams.

  • No, not at the moment, but who knows :P Just wanted to see if they were rescuable;) I think every T\A should be rescued ;)

  • Nice - could have done without the flames though...

Flames on this ride is like putting a picture of MLK on the tail gate of a black Escalade riding on 32" rims...somewhat gratuitous. my 2 cents

  • i want it

  • showoff haha cant wait to ride in it bro

  • that car is sex
