I never liked this song until a friend from college helped me understand how piercing and substantial the lyrics were. He also told me how positive this song can be. When you're in the darkest of places, a song like this can be the light you need, knowing that people can share pain and overcome it. He died in a car accident, but his spirit lives and I will forever cherish the memories we had together.
