Sony is a pioneer in creating new technology. Sony has very qualified engineers who actually work on making the devices of tomorrow.

By the other hand there are other companies that hasn't almost no developing units, companies that just wait until other company creates something to COPY IT. Samsung for example. Of course this sort of companies can provide almost the same specification/gadgets/widgets for a low price, because they spent nothing on research.

LCD is still good, we don't want to get rid of LCD, but we really need to get rid of plasma, plasma doesn't bring any good use over LCD, but we really do want to use OLED and LCD a lot, well... the reason LCD isn't going to go out of the market is because we still need them for airports, who would spend so much time replacing TV's in an airport every day? LCD TV's last for almost 15 years when they are almost on all the time, but OLED lasts less then 4 years unfortunately.STILLITROCKS!

3-4 years lifespan? For me that is huge when it comes to OLEDs, the first OLED only lasted a few seconds, then a few minutes, a few hours, a few days and now a few years. It'll keep getting better and it'll go in the same direction as LCDs. Once its fully researched, they are going to be very cheap to make. It can also produce a more realistic picture than an HD do to the fact that it needs no backlight and that the pixels can be stacked on top of each other.

Why are some of you bitching? This is product for future. Same shit we heard about LCD some 8-10 years ago and look at them now. OLED or what ever other product might arise in coming years is future, LCD are not perfect, dont have highest resolution or best screen, at least we have not hit roof top far from that. Props to Sony and Samsung for investing in this tech. Both have AMAZING and in my mind best LCDtvs on market.
