  • I like the humor ;)

  • Chops.

  • This is actually the true tempo of the piece that debussy intended, around 192, after it was edited or whatever by people down to 144

  • Oh goodness. Only two years of piano playing and my teacher expects me to play THIS?! -faints-

  • i used to play this way WAY back in the day, although not nearly this fast...it's a beauty to listen to after all these years.eu

  • In my sheet music there are two tempo markings. Recommended is around 144. Now....Debussy's tempo is 192 LOL and this is the closest to that I've heard

  • this isn t moderement anime it is prestissimo

  • OH MY GOSH! <3 that was amazing. I love this piece :)

the p[layer did an excellent job

  • This is soo hard :D I have to play this. But I like this piece. It's very fun.

  • Oh mon dieu, i supposed to play THIS !

  • For those whining about how it's too fast. Just because you haven't heard pianists with the techinical skill to play this quickly clearly doesn't mean that the song isn't beautiful.

  • I really like this swift interpretation, which makes the middle part even more charming. Thank you for posting this !

Also, while it is true that most recordings usually have it slower, the speed is not unheard of, and I remember Rachmaninoff playing in a similar fashion (for what it's worth).

  • OH! I love it! I play it on my piano lessons, but no so fast! :D It is to hard to play it, but it is tooooooooooooooooooo beautful!!! :)

  • I don't like it, where is the soul? Let's let just Chinese people to do Circus with piano!!! Fast doesn't mean beautiful

  • @GIULIOPT95 That can also be turned around. Why CAN'T fast be beautiful? The thought that all classical may be slow and dream-like is a bit off. It's a swift, but it's still touching. It still has soul.

  • holy sh*t that's insane , love it big time

  • i think this is supposed to be a little slower. it says moderately animated. so fast, but not super speedy. this seems a little extreme, but bravo anyway!

  • @pianolar If it can be played this fast, I don't think it's such a bad thing. He does some really interesting things with the middle voices. They're only possible to shape as exquisitely as he does at high speed.

  • Is it supposed to be played THIS FAST?! If it is, I'm srewed.

  • @Tedsta101 I'm playing this piece, and I'm almost positive this is not the intended speed. A lot of the expression disappears in the "flurry". The score says "Modérément animé".

  • @Tedsta101 It's supposed to be fast but this is way too much :P If you have the chance, look for Werner Haas' version (some recording for Philips Classics). It's my favourite by far.

  • @Tedsta101 No, you can play slower! But you will notice that when you learned the piece it's fun to play as fast as you can.

  • @Tedsta101 In my opinion this is wayyy rushed. It sounds gross this fast. Beautiful piece though :)

  • @Tedsta101 in fact, yes. I was shocked, too.

  • @maltagirl "modérément animé" - I know how to translate this. Do you?

  • what the hell tell us who this is.

    thank you for posting

  • @legallucy Alexis Weissenberg.

  • I love it !

    Who's play this ?

  • Superb - who's the pianist?

  • sick!

  • i think that this piece is awesome, especially the ending.

  • i think its realy too fast!!

  • @crazymangas

this is the way it should be played!!!!!

  • @crazymangas yes i personally think it's too fast too, BUT that's the way it was meant to be played. Debussy himself assigned this speed to it. So I wont argue with that

  • This is the way it should be played!!

  • is this Glenn Gould?
