What im trying to say is if DD wanted to take the route JL Audio took they have the technology to do so and visa versa. If JL Audio really wanted an SPL monster you would be ignorent to think they could not make one. So if you really love bass and I mean really loud bass go with companies like DD, AA, FI, TC Sounds(Audiopulse), DC Audio, RE Audio, or Earthquake. If you want something for a REAL daily driver get companies like JL, RF, Alpine, Memphis, Kicker, or Diamond.
Digetal Designs and JL Audio are both great car audio brands. Both are very well respected and im sure they respect each other. However they are alot different in who they build there subwoofers for. For example the w6v2 subs JL makes are designed for really small enclosures and high SQ while being played at high volumes. JL makes all kind of shit like that now days just look at their amps. On the other hand You have subs that DD makes like the z series that can handle 30,000 watt bursts.
my definition of a REAL daily driver is for somebody that does not dedicate their car to the sole purpose of "being loud". Alot of people with kids and jobs need their car to do its job, which is to get from point A to B. Most people will need as much space in their car as possible to haul shit in. Also the addition of powewrfull amps will be hard on the vehicles electric system, and most people do not want to add extra bats and altinators to their car to support them.
Also, I'd like to add, JL may be marketed as "high end", but I don't know any "audiophiles" who would outright chose JL or Diamond over the likes of Audiopulse, Zapco, Morel, etc.
At least to me, that say's alot more than "who" or "what" these companies make the product for.
But hey, I'm not trying to make this personal, if that is your preference, More power to you. You don't need to try to justify it by lumping manufacturers into two groups.

Sorry bro but DD utilizes the kevlar and carbonfiber in their subwoofer cones because of the extreme output (In excess of 10,000+ real watts!) and excursion. Any papercone under these circumstances would fold into a taco under this amount of power. Carbonfiber and kevlar are extremely strong yet light weight, there for making the cone 30% stronger and 25% lighter pound per pound !

Well, just to toss this out here, Digital Designs did take a few major awards this year, ( 1st place in some ) in SQ.
As for the Z series woofer, most of those made are used for pro audio applications.

I dont doubt that the DDs are powerful speakers and they can make your trunk and over head lights shake...lol. but on the DDs the Diaphragm is made out of cardboard or paper material which doesnt produce the low bass (drop) that plastic or fiber Diaphragms give off... and over all quailty sound. Thats why people spend that big money on JLs or Fosgate T1s or T2s... Thats all i was saying. That quality bass that some people dont care about all they hear is noise..

Going by your previous statement, i can safely assume that you have no idea what your talking about.....all the "REAL" speaker companies like SSA, Fi, AQ, RE audio, AA, MMATTS, WMD....all use a reinforced version of a paper cone......if you dont know who any of the companys are then you truley are just a rookie lost....becuase just if not all of the ose companys have a line of subs that sound better and get louder than JL, and especially rockford

Yeah paper speakers do have a tendacy to get louder which is my point.. but the low bass frequencys (drop/quality) the tend to lose at a certian level. The better part youre speakin of is a matter of opinion but the paper Diaphragm definetly loses the low frequency bass (drop) at a certian point

Eclipse? You guys are funny.... And yes alot of people dont like Alpine because they fuck up when you start putting burned CDs in it because the laser is so strong they dont adapt to burned CDs well but the laser is quality and if you have real CDs you will get the best quailty out of your music from a Alpine head unit.

yea i agree with alpine head untis goin bad...some of their expensive ones have only 2v pre-outs now.....luckily i have a CDA-9827 thats still the shit. I plan on upgradin, either to a Pionner double din or eclipse double din....i feel as those are the only 2 good HU manufactures left

the cone is only as important as the motor pushing it...if the sub has a strong motor it will hit every note fine, but then its up to a properly tuned box as well

Sorry bro but DD utilizes the kevlar and carbonfiber in their subwoofer cones because of the extreme output (In excess of 10,000+ real watts!) and excursion. Any papercone under these circumstances would fold into a taco under this amount of power. Carbonfiber and kevlar are extremely strong yet light weight, there for making the cone 30% stronger and 25% lighter pound per pound !
